Gambling should be done for fun only. In this process of fun, if you make some money, that's an extra! It should not be played with a single minded goal to make money. If you do, that's when the addiction starts controlling your mind. I personally like crash games a lot and I play sometimes during weekends. But that is strictly for fun. I make money sometimes and I loose money sometimes. But since I do it for fun, my looses don't make me anxious and I know when exactly I have to stop. Gambling is just an adult's way of entertainment and nothing else!

Of course the goal is to make money out of gambling, however, when you have been in the game for so long, you will realized that instead of profiting, in the end you are going to lose more money and become addicted. So it's better to minimized your bet, just like what you are doing, just bet 1 or 2 and then wait for the result. Happy to hear that you have overcome your gambling addiction and i hope you can continue to gamble just for fun and don't slowly but surely get back to your former behaviour. You always have to be very cautious about that. I personally only gamble or place sporting bets from time to time but whenever i went to a casino or if i am transferring money i only use a certain amount of money that i decided before and when the money is gone i won't put in more money for the time being. So of course i am happy if i win a bet but i am not betting primarily because i want to make money with it because i think that is the wrong approach. If you start gambling because you want to or even worse, you need to make money, than this is a very bad starting point.

This is why I only gamble the money that I make in crypto. But even with that, I am a small time player, I really just use extra funds. Because I only play just for the sake of fun. That's good, at least you know your real purpose and your capability. some gamblers are just ambitious, they want more than just fun and that is making constant money in gambling. I have some ability to analyze and predict soccer matches such as EPL matches having been a keen follower of the league thus prompted me to gamble or bet on some sure matches which I did for fun and to earn some little bucks, of course it can't be for fun only monetary earning by winning some bettings is an added advantage although I only gambled with the amount of money I can afford to lose by placing a parley of two to four matches although the odds might be small, I spent  profits earned from those wins to pay for some bills and some little expenses in my home.

But if you have fun while you gamble, there is an ease that comes with it having less anxiety and a higher probability to win. As ironical as it may sound too, you might not become addicted if you gamble to make money because if after many consecutive loses, you might just come to terms with the idea or fact that gambling is not the way for you to make money, you might stop and just find something else to do, which is good in most cases. I have always seen gambling as nothing but a source of entertainment and the reason is simple I understood the concept of the house edge and I just accepted the casino had an advantage over me that will be impossible to overcome unless I played a game of skill and I was extremely good at it, and since that is not the case any dream that I may had about it died before I made my first bet, so I have always gambled for fun and this is the way it should be for all people.

I gambler for both fun and making money. Nobody plays and expect to lose, when we all stake our bets, we always look forward to win, to make more money. Personally I just gamble for fun and to try and make a little bit of money on the side.  Here's the thing, in my opinion anyhow, if you aren't a professional gambler who understand all of the math behind gambling, then it really shouldn't be played just to make money because more than likely this is going to cause you turmoil at some point.  There are people far far smarter than I that gamble professionally, like Alex Jacob whom is one of Jeopardy's longest running winners.  The guy is a genius, understands the math behind it all, and does it for a living.  Unless you are like that guy, it's probably best to just play for fun and to try and win a little dough on the side.

I guess we all have been there. The starting days of gambling are the most memorable ones I believe.
It usually starts with fun but once we start getting deep into it we tend to gamble frequently and most often lose our money.
Even I have lost some in gambling but I didn't take it seriously because I could afford to lose it.
But as things started to get messy and I started to notice I am putting more money into than I should, I took a break from gambling.

I am quite the same as you. I am a small time gambler and I control myself not to gamble too much. I basically gambled in a casino or sportsbook that I haven't created an account yet and enjoy the welcome bonus as it might bring a luck to win decent amount of money just by depositing a small amount of money plus welcome bonus then after that I also entertained myself the same as you after gambling. Actually, this is a natural result.  I think that everyone who plays for fun remains in the red for a long time.  And this money spent can be seen as payment for your enjoyment of the game.  But of course that euphoria and delight of winning when it happens is certainly worth playing.

Naturally, I play only for fun and sometimes it's not even real money - I like to play dice and in order to test strategies I just need to launch a bot, and not go to the casino. The last time I thought about a big win it was a distant youth, then I studied the mathematical part of gambling and stopped being naive.

For us, maybe gambling just because we want to be rich, it's impossible, this is not a good criterion for me. Of course, gambling games must start with fun and don't make it a daily income. This will be very difficult for us, unless a pro gambler can do it because of their bets. bigger the more the pope said at the gambling table.

For both. I bet for fun and winning is part of that fun. But I'm also ready to lose. For example if i have to lose my money in gambling, atleast i have tried my best. As long as we only use the money we can afford to lose, there's no harm in trying our luck at the gambling places.

I believe that every beginner or newbie gambler was been in this place first thing because of fun. I mean i am speaking based on my personal experience and based on my self-explanation. I am a gambler in a sense where I just wanted to have fun, spend my leisure time but with a limited money involved. For me I am a very competitive gambler and I wanted to win which i bet everyone wants it too and I'm afraid to lose so I guess this way is better for me because I managed to have a self control when it comes to money involved gambling but a lot of gambling activities is just for fun without any money involved.

When you do really push up that belief inside you that you can make out easy profits with gambling then think again because this small motive of yours will definitely wrecking up your life if you do tolerate it

^ Hey! How did you overcome that addiction? It means it was totally stopped when you are thinking that you are addicted and change your daily to a weekend habit of gambling, it seems quite difficult but good to know you have been able to manage yourself from possible addiction.
However, on your selection, I voted both because for me that was how I feel and I selected both because it can be while having fun it also hoping that you will upon placing bets. OP, I chose both to answer your question. I bet for profit, but at the same time I also want to have fun. I really have to position which is the best as the main goal between making profit and getting pleasure so that I can consider the consequences when I lose. We can't just have fun at gambling while we can't win anything because that would be very boring. We need profit from gambling, even though it seem inadvisable to gamble just for the sake of profit because we need both pleasure and profit.

It's really great that you've managed to recover from addiction, that's very uncommon. In fact, some don't even believe that it's possible, so kudos to you!
I checked "both", because, as you know, there are different types of gambling.

There are the ones that only depend on luck - slots, crash, dice, those I only play for fun, I never expect to win anything from there.
And there are those that depend on skills. From the latter, in particular, poker, I actually manage to win some money. But still, it's not enough to make a living, so I use this money for fun. Most often the money I win from poker I end up spending on other gambling games or sportsbetting.
