Even I read this news today on Cointelegraph and was quite surprised to read that Amazon is planning to use bitcoin.
Amazon is a giant and bitcoin being accepted as a payment by such a giant will surely be a huge benefit for the bitcoin community.
May be this is why we can see a sudden pump in bitcoin's price today. The price has spiked up from $34k to $38k.
At the same time I think this is just a rumour since Amazon hasn't officially announced anything regarding this.
If this rumour becomes true then we can see a further increase in bitcoin's price.

Another clear picture on how much bitcoin is already progressing. Little by little or inch by inch, bitcoin is starting to be able to become publicized through different means and in no time, we will definitely see it becoming one of the primary currency the whole world will be using. Amazon is a huge company that is in line with the other huge companies like Microsoft, Google, Apple and Facebook. It would surely make a huge impact to bitcoin's price as well as its influence so let us hope it would work out well as it becomes a form of payment for Amazon.

so far this is just a rumor there is nothing confirmed and unfortunately as this is a manipulated pump and dump market someone spread this rumor to make a profit with this pump and dump market and as most people in this market are greedy people they didn't need take any minute to investigate whether the news was true or not, people immediately rushed to buy bitcoin and the price is at $39,000, the problem will be:

how will the price hold up at $39,000 if amazon doesn't accept bitcoin as a means of payment in the next few weeks? That's what people aren't thinking about and the unlucky one who buys high will be the one who reaps the losses

Amazon is looking to accept Bitcoin payments ‘by the end of the year’, and is investigating its own token for 2022, says an insider:
Let us say that we are hearing the same news for the past 7 years and yet Amazon did not accept Bitcoin as a payment and i am not sure how we could trust again and whenever there is a rally we hear this speculation that Amazon is planning to accept Bitcoin, let us hear from them officially and then we can talk about it because if they wanted they would have accepted Bitcoin already.

A few years ago amazon did plan to accept bitcoin, but that plan didn't happen and there was a lot of speculation about why amazon still didn't accept bitcoin.
But this time Amazon seems serious about accepting Bitcoin, as a new report from City AM comes after internet users saw interesting job openings on amazon over the weekend, including job openings for the "Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Leader" section.
https://www.amazon.jobs/en/jobs/1644513/digital-currency-and-blockchain-product-lead

It proves that amazon is really serious about accepting bitcoin as a payment option and of course Amazon will develop its own crypto currency.

Anything involving Amazon is definitely going to move a market as they are the most profitable online retailer in the world, so it is possible there could be more upside once they make some sort of official announcement on the subject. They would probably prefer to keep it low key so it feels like a bit of a slip-up for them to disclose the information in such a way. I have a feeling that they will build up an enclosed ecosystem like we've seen at Paypal, where people can pre-purchase and store Bitcoin internally within their systems. After that they can profit from internal transactions that are essentially free compared to paying a small cut to payment networks like Visa or Mastercard.

We should still not forget that Bitcoin has transaction capacity issues. If Amazon were to accept only Bitcoin and no other payment method at all, we would be screwed. Their revenue is so high and their transaction volume insane, we would quickly be running into a deadlock as Bitcoin couldn't scale quickly enough. It is good news on the one hand, but it would be even better if we knew that Bitcoin could live up to the challenge technically.

Ethereum, Cardano and Bitcoin Cash will be as well in the line for acceptance after Bitcoin as they say. But in my opinion it is still on the level of talks and rumours. Closer to the real deal we will see what it will be. Sometimes such kind of news are just the way to make popularity higher or make some manipulations and that is all.

I don't trust anything that big tech, Bezos or Amazon are saying, and they always have some hidden motives behind everything they do.
They hired some blockchain people few months ago, and there are some rumors they are working on creating their own token to be used instead of Bitcoin.
You can imagine that they will control supply and everything else related with potential amazon token including some kyc verification, and for Bitcoin they can always have some stupid excuse like high fees, etc.

I can imagine now that they have been quiet for so long regarding cryptocurrencies and accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment in specific, it is possible that they loaded their bags for years now and are indeed going to make a huge announcement that they accept Bitcoin. Maybe they even come up with additional technology to support Bitcoin. That would make them immediately rich just by selling their bag I guess (if they have one).

Don't know whether it's a good thing or not. It would be a good thing if Bitcoin wasn't so volatile and speculative but it's so easily speculated right now, especially how Elon Musk used the coin in every way that I am not happy with something like this. It may increase crypto adoption but I believe it will be used for other personal gains. One word and it can 50% increase or decrease the price. That's an insane and easy profit, that's the loophole that the richest people found and I am afraid that they'll use it for personal purposes and will test their powers that won't benefit the crypto community.

There's a flash report that Amazon denied the rumors that they're going to accept bitcoin payments at the end of this year. Well, that escalated so quick and never expected that they'll deny it. But that's better than to hope for a false rumor.

I think that there has been clarification from Amazon about this news.
Amazon denies report of accepting bitcoin as payment
We can see clear information from a spokesperson from Amazon.
from the statement, they focus on something others do right now.
Quote
"We remain focused on exploring what this could look like for customers shopping on Amazon."

But hopefully, this can be one of the other focuses later by Amazon to accept BTC as one of the payment methods. hopefully, and who knows the future  Grin

But, we must be happy enough with the news yesterday although it is not true because at least, we can get the price little bit higher, although for a while only.  Grin

Oh crap, my perfect week start has just been ruined!
Don't worry, even if this turns out to be incorrect, some new positive news will appear - because this is the ideal time for such news, people are a bit relaxed and don't check too much if something is true or not Wink

Exactly this pissed me off today!
I hate rumors, bad or good, I hate them. China bans bitcoin mining, show me proof, it did happen, ok, it was true let's deal with it when it's fact! European bank bans anonymous wallets, screw that again, it's a rumor based on somebody not understanding English, and it's a damn project, if it even happens it will happen years from now!

But!!!! We had tons of goods news, checked news, confirmed news, from Microstrategy buying, from Salvador legal tender to German banks allowed to service crypto, confirmed positive news, yet the market was going down. And now we have a rumor from a "sauce and suddenly we're 16% up, seriously, what the hell? I know it's going to sound bad but now I do understand the people saying that this is a damn manipulated market case what happened in the last month makes really no sense compared to the way the price has moved.

Let's see if it will come true or just an issue. Or it will last for a very short time as Tesla ever did. I am not really optimistic anymore about the news of a big company adopting Bitcoin. What I saw, many of them just take advantage of it and ignore it after getting people's attention. In my opinion, most of the scenario isn't too much different with Tesla. But it is still my perception, I hope Amazon is really serious to accept Bitcoin.

after we experienced many setbacks from Elon Musk Amazon gave us all the good news by accepting bitcoin, hopefully this will really happen and be the beginning of the revival of bitcoin in the crypto world with this, we really appreciate what Amazon has done .and we hope this will be followed by several companies in the world to follow Amazon in the process of adopting bitcoin in the world
There's no official confirmation yet that Amazon did it but I hope so they really did it but for now this is just a speculation/rumor and someone who spread this might actually be gaining some profit since it looks like a market manipulation again. If it's a price manipulation we will see this price won't last for a week or so and we will come back to the level of $32k to $34k again.

I don't know if we were just lucky this time but this is not believable that Amazon did this ww should wait for their confirmation.

Apparently, the news that Amazon will accept Bitcoin payments "by the end of the year" turned out to be fake. I just looked at the Cityam where this rumor was posted. The website does not look trustworthy. It even uses a free SSL certificate that will expire in two weeks.

In any case, as they say, there is no smoke without a fire. Perhaps Amazon is preparing to enter the cryptocurrency market in 2022, but representatives do not want to publish reports of their intentions too early.

Yeah, and with this denial, no wonder the price goes from $39k back to $37k as of this writing.

In any case though, it was a good run from $29k-$39k and for sure, speculators have made big profits from this jump. And so we are back to trading sideways again and let's hope that Amazon will "change" their mind at the end of this year and start to consider bitcoin as payment method in 2022.

Amazon on Monday denied a report that the e-commerce giant planned to begin accepting Bitcoin payments by the end of this year, Amazon's payments team is looking to hire a digital currency and blockchain expert, according to a recent job posting. The posting signals that Amazon may be taking a more serious look at cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin.

Amazon is looking to accept Bitcoin payments ‘by the end of the year’, and is investigating its own token for 2022, says an insider:

They might as well introduce their own token. I am not so sure whether this article right. This is not the first time I am seeing a news like this, but it has never happened. But it wouldn’t be bad to believe that they are working on something like that, that’s if they really hired Blockchain experts as some has said. When the time is right we are going to know what they are really working on, whether they are trying to implement Bitcoin as a method of payment on their platform or they are just trying to create their own token and use it instead of Bitcoin?

Can be of interest:

There is a Poll happening now in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5351319.0 in which looks like Many forum members are positive on will amazon accept bitcoin this year.

But i doubt that they will open their cash for conversion in this market. instead they will only accumulate bitcoins.
