This thread is about Portuguese football league Primeira Liga. Let's discuss new season here.

Last Champion is Sporting. Benfica have the most valuable squad. Porto is following them. In 87 season league history only these three clubs were champions except one time only achievement of Belenenses and Boavista. Most likely we will see Sporting, Benfica, Porto combat this season as well.

18 teams play in Premiera Liga. First 2 teams will directly go to Champions League. Third team will play in Champions League qualification game, fourth and fifth teams will play Conference League qualification game. Last two teams will be relegated and third team will play a play-out game to stay in the league.

I added a poll which will run for 30 days, which team will be the champion this season? My favorite is Sporting again but this time it will be harder to be the champion.

Are you talking about Portugal's NOS League, however I admit some NOS clubs have managed to produce famous players, such as: (pepe, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruben and many others), although the Portuguese league is not as popular as other leagues.

If you talk about Sports, what about some other clubs, also have good opportunities this season like: you mentioned Belenenses, FC Porto and Boavista they are also the oldest and known club in Portugal and have also won the NOS league.

I have been follow Portugal Primeira Liga for long, I have noticed Benfica to be very strong while FC Porto can be so unstoppable at times. Sporting CP are not bad either. SC Braga can be tough and one of my favorite that is just tough a little but gone not so far. This thread will likely make me follow this league this season.

A great opener from Sporting CP, they had over 65% possession, took 15 shots and 5 shoots on goal.

I do not like to predict away matches but Benfica has the highest chance to win, I prefer to predict only home matches. If I will have to playlce bet, I would have preferred to choose only Sporting CP and FC Porto bacuase both clubs are at their home. This can be a risk bet as I may go for first half win, but just with the money I can afford to lose. This is not a betting advice.

Benfica or Porto will be champions this season I think that Porto has the better players and can be one of the best teams in the world on their day but they are inconsistent and struggle with getting results every week. Benfica have less good players but are more consistent if they had to pick one from these two to win this season it would be Porto because they have a special place in my heart because of the football that they have played in previous seasons. I think sporting will surprise a lot of people this season too.

I don't understand what you are talking about, do you follow Portuguese league? Sporting is the last champion, which is 2020, not 2002.
2002 was their previous championship, I guess you didn't watch Portuguese league last year at all.

Anyway, title holder Sporting started with a Vizela win at home. Vizela just promoted to Primeira Liga so there was a huge quality difference.
Today there are three games. Estoril already beat Arouca. Now we are waiting for Benfica's first match against Moreirense. Odds are tempting for Benfica win. Another favorite Braga will play with Maritimo at away game. You can parlay Benfica and Braga win.

And the new season started yesterday. The last champions Sporting had a really good start by defeating Vizela 3-0. Pedro Goncalves scored 2 goals.

Benfica also started season with a win against Moreirense , despite red card that they got and had to play big part of 2nd half with just 10 players.

What a win by Sporting they just dominated the entire much and destroyed their opponent with 3-0 at start showing they arent joking. While other top teams in other leagues didnt start very well they showed they are a team to bet on this entire season even in the champions league as well

Moreirense 1 - 2  Benfica

I did not watch the match, but it would be a tough match, 8 yellow cards and one red cards in just a single match. Benfica has the highest chance to win the match and she won it right from the first half, no team scored in the second half. I will be expecting FC Porto to also win their match.

Benfica won the game 2-1. 3 goals scored in the first 30 minutes.  Benfica had a ball possession rate of 75% in the first half. As Diogo Gonçalves was dismissed with a red card at 56 minutes, moreirense tried to dominate the match, but they could not score. There was a very hard contention in the second half match. both teams played hard. too many cards came out and 8 minutes of lost time was played.I think Benfica plays with the potential to become champions. I chose benfica to be champion in the voting. I think Porto will win in the Porto-Belenenses match tomorrow. Actually, I could say something clearer after watching Porto's match, but ı believe Benfica will be champions.

From my analysis, Porto is a good team and this season they are set to make a come back. Although they finished five points behind Sporting Lisbon last season, I believe that Sergio Conceicao has some new tricks up his sleeves to make the regain the trophy. I am not at all perturbed by Sporting Lisbon opening victory, the season is still long.

Porto-Belenenses match ended 2-0. In my opinion, Belenenses has not prepared properly for the season this year. They made a lot of mistakes in defense, a lot of turnovers were made. I'm positive for Porto, they made very nice intermediate passes. this is in accordance with what was predicted by observers because from a head to head perspective it has been seen that fc porto is superior and even though the ball is round and on the field what is needed is team spirit but it is predictable that fc porto can win the match.
On the other hand, for Belenenses themselves, if you look at the matches that have happened, I see they are still not united as a team and they still make many mistakes in their area which makes midfielders and wingers from FC Porto free to mess with Belenenses' defense and I think this is a start. which is good enough for porto

FC Porto 2  -  0 Belenenses SAD

FC Porto did not fall my hands, it is as I was expecting FC Porto as A. Martinez scored in the 19th minute while Luis Diaz scored in the second half. The league has just started, but the three clubs will still have there best performance as they are the ones winning the league always, but one will still later emerge as the best to win the league.

Sporting Braga - Sporting CP - Here is the match of the week. Big matchday for Braga and Lisbon teams. It's hard to pick a side really. Sporting CP won last 4 games between these teams. Last time they meet it was two weeks ago in Portuguese Super Cup match. Sporting CP is favorite again but a draw will not be surprising to anyone.
