Not trying to discourage you but people starting to follow altcoins right now should be a little careful. The Best time to look at altcoins was in January this year, a Fortnite after it Bitcoin  surpassed the previous all-time high of 20K.

The second-best time was any day in 2020 before going past the 20K mark.

I sort of agree with your opinion,  altcoin rally started long time ago,  precisely in January.  Look at Etc price from $4 to more than $100 before correction to $50 range.  Decred is also another 1000 x and many L2 coin like Matic,  avax,  bnb,  kcc etc.  The bull market circle is driven by bitcoin and bitcoin is testing new ATH!

The month of October were only 6 days left before it ends and based on what I have observe the altcoin market currently some altcoin are made it's way to pump some are not. I don't think so that this month will be for alts because bitcoin dominates the month with a significant increase in market price. No one can actually say when will be the month for alts to happen. the market was so volatile and unpredictable but I do hope that before the year ends we could see significant movements for alts too because it would be beneficial for many of us.

As long as the Bitcoin market is in a bull phase the altcoin market will move along with it. If you are holding the top coins then you will end up earning a good profit. I am not confident to invest in any market right now because the opportunity to invest is when the market is in a correction phase and not when the market is rallying.  ETH is not a substitute to Bitcoin, please do not make me laugh  .

OP, you should realise that history has a way of repeating itself. Until Bitcoin loses steam, alts don't start their rally. As it's now, it's very obvious that Bitcoin is still waxing strong, hitting and breaking resistant points. Sometime recently I shared a table with a forecast that Bitcoin will continue to rally until November. In 2017, I'm using that year as instance because it was also a post Bitcoin halving year like 2021, alts started their rally in the first quarters of 2018 after Bitcoin ended its in December 2017. It's the same way I see alts commencing theirs in 2022 after Bitcoin ends its this December. This is just my speculation. It may be right or wrong. Whichever way, whatever we see in alts going up in price now isn't a rally for alts. It's best described as flash in a pan. Wait until alts rally begins you will realize that what's happening now is child's play.

You may want to include the source of that so you don't run the risk of being accused of copy right theft.

If you check on CMC, you can filter the following parameters with the site. Check the 30-day chart and 30-Day percentage gain. You can see that it is almost like a Christmas tree but the majority of the top coins are green.

This month's have been positive for bitcoin and altcoin will respond to bitcoin movement.  I am hoping to see ethereum at $5000 , Solana will also reach a new ATH.  I am also cautiously optimistic about other coin like fantom,  polygon and kusama.  I believe these coin will respond positively to bitcoin movement.

We will see it later as sometimes, the crypto market can give surprises to us, which can be out of our expectations. Hopefully, the altcoin can follow bitcoin to increase so we can make a double profit. But I agree with you that no one can actually say when will be the month for altcoins to increase and we can only predict the time. If the altcoin moves after bitcoin reach the high peak, that will not be a problem as we can profit from bitcoin.

Alt-season part never comes before bitcoin reaches its peak. Sure the price of alts do go up, but there is nothing that will make alts go up in an alt-season level of situation. Which means that first we need to see bitcoin reach its peak for this time around. Some say that will be 70-80 thousand, some say it will be 100k+. Whatever that number is, we surely know that there is a good case to be made for much more increase and we are not at peak just yet.

This is why I believe that we should not be waiting for an alt-season just yet. Let bitcoin reach its peak, and whenever it goes up more and more and more and then suddenly stops and even has a little crash, THAT'S when you will see the prices of alts start to skyrocket. Although the increase in altcoins was not that significant in October, at least I am grateful that altcoins prices have started to move up. I really hope

Well I see Polkadot making lots of noise with its parachain auction. I had to do some research on the project and I'm impressed. Not giving this as an investment advice but maybe putting in few dollars could turn out to be profitable for trade purpose only. You should understand that unless Bitcoin does increase in price, neither of this altcoins will be getting any attention. First Bitcoin has to show some positive signs of bull for the altcoins to pick up.

The goodness is that Bitcoin isn't finished yet. We still have a chance of more increase in price before the bull runs comes to an end then we start battling with the bears that might take years. Investing in altcoin might be very risky right now as if misfortune falls on you and your coins doesn't increase but dumped then it means you're trape and this might take years to recover.

After reading bunch of replies above it does feel like we are already in the alt season and some of the predictions states we already surpassed the one. If that's the case then one needs to be way careful with the alt investment. I think for the day trading that won't be a problem because you have to tackle with the smaller window in case of day trading while if someone is planning to buy it for the longer periods and hold to trade then that's gonna be risky shot for sure. We are hoping for more increase not just for the next month but until December, however, we can decline the possibilities of price corrections, and might after this new ATH we've been having a huge decline as well. In fact, Bitcoin is moving down slowly, it is possible that altcoins will come next to it.
The nature of being optimistic is still coz we believe and trust Bitcoin but not that we can hold such fallback if whales/big investors will sell their coins at a lower price as this will certainly drag the price to dump.
