Let's look at it from this angle. If consistency is very important, what if someone's income is not consistent? That can be a problem. We can't all be always be financially capable to continuously buying Bitcoin all the time.
You are not buying bitcoin with your income but with your discretionary income. Some people have consistent income but they don't have any discretionary income. Whereas, some people income isn't consistent but they have enough discretionary income to keep them in the bitcoin accumulation game overtime. Example of such people are contractors.

It's good to be consistent in your bitcoin accumulation to reach your target fast but you don't need to force yourself to buy bitcoin when you don't have a discretionary income at that moment. Skipping one or two buys in six months doesn't mean you ain't consistent. It becomes a problem when you have discretionary income but choose not to buy bitcoin for no reason.

Circumstances can arise and make it difficult. At the same time we can't ignore our finances just to serve an obligation of the continuous accumulation of Bitcoin. Not saying we shouldn't, but ignoring factors in the house will eventually bring that accumulation of Bitcoin to an end
That's true. There are times that your expenses will eat up your discretionary income and you will be left with nothing, you don't need to buy bitcoin that week/month until, when your discretionary income is available again the next week, you can buy again. It's a must for a long term bitcoin investor to put his basic needs and monthly expenses prior to his bitcoin investment.

You can also look for other means to increase your income in order for you to be consistent overtime so that, you can always have discretionary income to buy bitcoin till you reach your bitcoin target.

Are they not all classified as income? Yes they are. But there's the main income that allows you do split your income across board of which one of the board is discretionary income.

Moving forward, as I have clarified that. Can discretionary income remain the same in inflation period? Of course not. In as much as you said one shouldn't force himself to buy Bitcoin he or she has to adjust to keep up the pace. It's not all about increasing. What if there is no way to increase your income? Then the alternative is to adjust your income across board. Pending when you find a way to increase your income.
You’re trying to create a scenario for an excuse why someone would not invest in bitcoin. One thing you have to understand is in life development and growth is necessary. Everyone, investor or not should always thrive to increase their incomes. If your today is not better than yesterday then you have much work to do to better your life.
Consistency in bitcoin accumulation is important but also is survival. If your basic expenses cannot be adjusted to provide more discretionary, it’s best to leave it than to reduce it today and suffer tomorrow and even jeopardise your investments.

I don't disagree that we should not increase our income. In fact, I very much love it. That is actually good and a long term goal. My point is and will always be that before that goal is reached, what happens along the way. That is were I am driving at, let me explain.

Inflation doesn't wait for nobody it creeps in like a thief. Affecting all your finances as the same time. And it won't wait for you to increase your income. Follow along. Now, there are people who's finances at that period becomes small and it will affect that discretionary income. Remember I am not implying that it will stop their discretionary income. Hope you are following? Smaller, in the sense that their expenses has risen due to inflation. In that situation, there's only one thing you can do. Remember again, the income is still sustainable but not like before. But can still carter for upkeep and investment. Only thing here is reduced. Pay attention.

This doesn't mean the person has to stop investing. Because our aim here is continuation. Not stopping. When affected by a plague called inflation, you don't stop investing. All you do is reduce the amount pending when your long term goal kicks in or something pulls your income up and allows you to go back to your original funds for investing.

I was never suggesting that someone should sacrifice their basic needs all in the name of investing. I never said so. My first point was that consistency doesn't always mean investing the same amount. Things happen. Pending when your finances are back up again.

Hope you understand me now? I made this so you won't misquote me when you reply me.
I didn’t misquote you, your previous comment wasn’t as clear as this one. This here is a better explanation of your idea and the scenario you were trying to explain.
With your explanation now there’s consistency in the investment even if the quantity is now reduced as against not continuing because of inflation, the way it sounded in your previous statements. I wasn’t the only one who misread it, so you can see that you didn’t present your thoughts very clearly.
Now we’re all on the same page. Thank you for elucidating.

When someone wants to invest in Bitcoin, there should be careful observation because some people just jump in and buy without understanding the system. This is because when the market isn't moving in the direction they want, they will rush to sell because they don't understand how it works. I don't know why they will be panicking when they know that the price will return to normal and even surpass the initial price they bought. Because of the way the algorithm operates, there is no way that there won't be a recovery from the decline. When investing in Bitcoin, you should know what will make it easier, which is to use DCA and have emergency reserves at the same time. And people who know what the dip is about are always happy. Because they can even buy more.

I think it is necessary to clarify a technical fact about the price recovery of Bitcoin. Many people have a misconception that Bitcoin's algorithm guarantees a price recovery! In reality this is not the case at all. As far as I know Bitcoin's algorithm is mainly responsible for ensuring network security creating blocks at specific times and managing the rules for issuing new coins and has nothing to do with causing market price fluctuations. Bitcoin's price mainly depends on the demand and supply of buyers and sellers in the market investor confidence large institutional investments Institutional Adoption liquidity and the global economy. Every time we have seen Bitcoin recover after major crashes in the past, no automatic coding or magic algorithm worked behind it. Rather it was possible because new buyer demand was created in the market its acceptance by people increased and investors trusted the foundation of Bitcoin in the long term. But yes, just because the past history was good, it is not a guarantee that the same thing will always happen in the future but the financial market cannot guarantee that the same thing will always happen. In my experience the main reason why new investors panic is that they do not really understand how the price of Bitcoin is determined. If someone thinks that an algorithm will miraculously increase the price, it is natural for them to get nervous when they see a 30 --50% collapse in the market. But when a person understands that the real strength of Bitcoin is its limited supply Scarcity excellent network effect and its growing acceptance around the world then he will no longer be disturbed by a small or short term decline. Therefore, investing with blind faith in an invisible algorithm is not at all wise. Rather, the best strategy is to buy DCA regularly little by little with a calm head following the rules with the additional income Discretionary Income in hand. And at the same time you should keep a strong emergency fund or emergency reserve so that you do not have to do something stupid like selling Bitcoin at a loss in case of danger. Having a strong backup reduces stress and makes it much easier to stick to long term goals.

I consider you correct for calling out Nwaswago, yet at the same time, you seem to be close to making the same mistake that he is making with the implication that "basic knowledge" is necessary, which you do not explain what is the basic knowledge that you are suggesting to be necessary.

What if some newbie reads your post and he is getting ready to buy bitcoin based on his knowing that he has discretionary funds, but then he sees that you are recommending that he needs to have "basic knowledge," so then he decides not to buy since he does not know what "basic knowledge" is.  I would not consider it unreasonable for a bitcoin newbie to potentially come to the wrong conclusion about his needing to learn more about bitcoin based on your assertion that "basic knowledge" is required in order to get started buying bitcoin.
Yes you got me there and I get your message because personally I was finding it difficult using the word “Basic knowledge” when trying to make my assertion of getting started with bitcoin investment knowing fully well that newbies can actually swing into action in buying bitcoin once they learnt that their discretionary income is available. I was not really intending to say that newbies might need to wait to learn more before getting started with bitcoin investment, but a common sense should always set them on the path that they should get started with buying bitcoin immediately  their discretionary income is ready and not to wait to learn more knowledge. Because this basic knowledge sometimes most newbies might be confused and think they maybe needing to go through some specialized training to gain this basic knowledge In bitcoin investment whereas in real sense they don’t have to, all they need to do is get there discretionary income ready and start buying bitcoin and hold and they will learn more from their real life experience while buying bitcoin and hold, so yeah you’re on point.

I think that part of my ongoing emphasis is that individuals can decide what they want in terms of if they are ready or not ready or if they believe that they need to know more. Having discretionary income and knowing from where they are going to buy their first bitcoin (satoshis) are the only objectively needed items. Otherwise, they use their judgement both in regards to whether to get started and then also how much they are going to start with, whether that is $100, $10 or some other amount that they consider to be comfortable for their assessment of their situation.

Maybe, for example, I might run across a person who tells me that he had heard about bitcoin and he even heard about a specific exchange that he could start to buy bitcoin, and he even tells me that he has $100 per week that he could invest into bitcoin, but he is nervous that he does not know enough about bitcoin.

I will tell him that it is important to get started as soon as possible, and maybe if he is not comfortable with investing $100 per week, maybe he can start with $30 per week and then figure 0ut what he needs to figure out in order to become more comfortable in order to increase the amount per week that he is putting into bitcoin.  I cannot decide for him, even though I can tell him that it is likely a good thing to get started and then also to spend time learning about bitcoin and the strengthening his cashflow management practices, and in the end he is the one who has to figure out both what bitcoin is and what role bitcoin could end up playing in his life if he might be considering an investment timeline of 4-10 years or more.

There are many guys who might mention something about a shorter timeline or trading or even mention some shitcoins.  I will tell them that I don't recommend trading bitcoin and I also don't recommend shitcoins, yet if they end up getting involved with any of those bad habits or pump and dump schemes, then maybe they could at least try to figure out ways to limit that trading and/or shitcoining to less than 10% of the size of what they are putting into bitcoin.. .and again, it is important to get started, even if they might make mistakes in the beginning and even have a lot of bad ideas in the beginning.

Without having further information about the particular person, I am not going to presume that they are not ready, willing and able to learn on their own, yet if I see any problematic areas, I might end up addressing them, and if the person has bad habits and inclinations to gamble or shitcoin, for example, I am not going to be able to stop them, even though I would suggest that they focus exclusively on bitcoin and investing, yet if they are going to fuck around with trying to trade or getting involved in shitcoins, then they should at least try to limit themselves to something like no more than 10% of the size that they put into bitcoin.  My philosophy is that people need to learn on their own and I consider them as capable of learning, unless red flags are raised then sure, I may well attempt to address them to the extent that the person gives any shits about what I have to say on the topic.

Nice guides, I will agree with you that the most relevant ideas here is just 2, which is discretionary income and where to purchase bitcoin and get started, as such its better to be known by some newbies that the only money they can invest into bitcoin should be discretionary income and invest whatever they can afford to lose at thier confort. Once you have it available there is no need to think otherwise, the common sense will surely help to calculate when to start and how much to start with. @ JayJuanGee your opinion's are okay, because even if the person have more than $100, it is more safer to begin with little amount of discretionary income first, like either $10, $20 or $30 weekly than starting with $100 at once, and he will surely be learning as it goes or continue buying and stacking Bitcoin. If at all, the best is to start ealy as soon as possible and also managing cashflow than waiting to aquire or know everything first.

, I think I have heard enough about the DCA and I'm literally getting fed up with the way folks keep talking about it some even mistake it to something it doesn't do. So whether DCA or not aside from buying the dip the lump sum buying is also a very nice strategy and it can make it easier for you to  get to your investment goal quite on time. But sure, everyone have the right to go for the strategy they think is best for Thier Bitcoin accumulation.

I like the fact that as a newbie, you are already this informed to know that you don't have any business buying the dip or waiting for the dip before buying because you are already far behind in your accumulation journey, so buying and accumulating consistently through the dca accumulating strategy or the lump sum strategy is the only reasonable way forward, since your goal is to build your stash of Bitcoin faster, not by waiting around and wasting valuable time you should have been using to accumulate and build your stash.

Bitcoin did well in the past, but nobody know exactly what it will happen in the future. It is better to encourage people to have realistic expectations, manage their risk properly, and only invest money they can afford to leave invested over time

I am hoping for grace and luck for myself and for anyone else who is investing into bitcoin.

Of course, the actions of any bitcoin investors likely will help them in the potential for their grace and luck, especially if they get started buying bitcoin in the case that they had not yet started, and continue to figure out ways to strengthen their cashflow management systems and practices so that they won't have to sell much if any bitcoin at a time that is not of their own choosing.

Grace and luck certainly have their place in bitcoin investing. but our actions often determine whether we are in the position to benefit from both. For someone who constantly delays waiting for perfect time to buy bitcoin is less likely to benefit from any opportunity that comes along,The most important habit is to build financial system that would keep you holding your bitcoin through both good and bad market conditions.

And your point about strengthening cash flow management. I think is the one of overlooked part of successful investing. Because some folks only focus on buying bitcoin and neglect their personal finance, without the strong financial foundations, even the strongest bitcoin believers will be forced to sell during market downturn, that’s the reason why maintain the emergency savings and budgeting well are so important  as buying bitcoin itself.
I wouldn’t think about grace and luck, if I’m considering starting my investment in bitcoin, however if you have a discretionary income I suggest what you need to do is get started with your investment in bitcoin because that would be more important instead of thinking that grace and luck is there for you, your grace and luck will only depend on your ability to invest consistently on a regular basis when you have a discretionary income, you can possibly work on your cashflow and also hope that you continue to have a discretionary amount to buy bitcoin, apart from this I don’t see how Grace and luck will work for you, volatility will always remain there, we would always have bear and bull season, the only way you can navigate such things is by staying consistent and keep buying of bitcoin.

That's consistency that's more important than luck. In some cases. A favorable timing can enhance returns. But typically the disciplined accumulation strategy and financial planning will result in better returns for long term Bitcoin investors. A steady stream of income, an Emergency Fund, and investing the money only after food and other essentials are paid off, minimize the risk of having to sell when markets are down. Bitcoin's volatility cannot be avoided, but it's much more manageable when your own financial situation is in order. Time in the market, patience, and steady investing  these are the best strategies for long term success.

You made some fine point here mate, and I largely agree with your sentiment, but what I totally disagree with you is the highlighted statement I made bold in your write up.

Once you start timing the market, you are no longer an investor, but rather a trader that is thinking on how to outsmart the market, because a real Bitcoin investor will not be messing around timing the market, and be wasting valuable time he should be using to buy and accumulate.

By waiting and timing the best buying price, it's going to slow your accumulation process, and as we all know, no one can perfectly predict the price of Bitcoin in the next hours, days or weeks, so it's an unhealthy waste of time all bitcoin investors should avoid, since you may miss so many buying opportunities by timing or waiting for the market.

I think I'll agree with you cause that's yet another investor borrowing ideas from trading, timing the market involves buying at low prices to sell when the market is high but that's shouldn't be investors focus, investors should take the DCA more seriously to avoid unnecessary market timing and buy at all points, whether the market goes lower or higher.

People with long term mentality should take consistency seriously cause that's the best way to beat volatility and avoid anything that would trigger emotions, a wrong time would definitely trigger so  since there's chances of making errors with it, it's better to focus on  the DCA accumulation method.

You are correct. This is a common mistake that most folks do make by bringing the mindset of a trader into bitcoin investment. Anyone that has the objective or whose sole aim is to hold bitcoin for a long term won't prioritize waiting for a perfect entry point. Moreover, it is not possible for anyone to outsmart the market, they may end up waiting for a dip that may never happen or even delay to buy when they are supposed to, there by missing market opportunities. With DCA strategy the pressure of always waiting for a perfect entry point is being removed. By being consistent, buying bitcoin becomes more of habit rather than impulsive decisions. Consistency plays a major role in the long run than buying only when the price is low. As long term investors having patience and discipline is essential for long term success.

Your intention is correct.  I actually see a matter differently. If you invest the remaining money after meeting all the expenses, you are not forced to sell bitcoin after the market falls. When the market price falls, you do panic selling. But if you do not have a backup fund, and suddenly need money for an emergency, then selling bitcoin, is that force selling. People panic sell when the price of bitcoin falls and force sell when they cannot do their proper fund management. And proper fund management depends on making DCA with discretionary income and giving importance to forming a backup fund. In the case of force selling, the presence or absence of a backup fund plays a greater role, while in the case of panic selling, the sudden change in the price of bitcoin acts as an influencer.

I don't think if there will be any need for beginners to make observation before getting started, Those who mostly go with this strategy of observing the market before getting started are traders . any beginners with Long term mindset wouldn't wait to see where the price is heading but to start as soon as possible so long as they have discretionary income and also learn some basic things about Bitcoin investment. However, I think I have heard enough about the DCA and I'm literally getting fed up with the way folks keep talking about it some even mistake it to something it doesn't do. So whether DCA or not aside from buying the dip the lump sum buying is also a very nice strategy and it can make it easier for you to  get to your investment goal quite on time. But sure, everyone have the right to go for the strategy they think is best for Thier Bitcoin accumulation.
A beginner as it is been mentioned is someone at the starting stage of his Bitcoin investment and if we should go with the norms, a beginner should start investing as soon as his discreationary income is ready or should I say available, there is no need to look at the market, or even try to learn more at a spot, there are things people bother themselves with, these things can actually be be figured out if someone start investing.
I don't totally agree with you that all the people that watch the market before the start are all traders because there are beginner who are ignorant that they don't actually have any need to watch the market before the start as long as they got their discreationary income, although the truth is that any investor whose mind is made up to invest for a long term wouldn't pay any attention to the marheg rather his owe mojor worries will be how to invest without encountering any problem on the long run.

This is exactly the reason why newbies shouldn't jump into bitcoin investment big even though they can afford to do so, for something that they are completely new to it's smarter for them to start small and with time adjust their investment rate to match what they will be comfortable with, a newbie can spend all the time trying to make it so they don't panic before they start buying bitcoin only to still panic and realize that all that time was a waste, bitcoin's history has shown that it can drastically DIP unexpectedly but it has also shown that it can recover from these dips, success might not be guaranteed but and that's why investing with our discretionary income positions us better to handle such unexpected dips.

So you are saying that until we understand the system we shouldn't invest in bitcoin? If that's what you are saying then I must disagree with you, you don't need to understand the system before you invest in bitcoin all you need to do is figure out your discretionary income, with basic knowledge you can start buying and holding bitcoin, if you want to understand the technicalities of bitcoin then you can decide to learn that as well but it shouldn't stop you from investing in bitcoin.

In Bitcoin investment, you have to separate the mindset of "waiting for luck" with "building a system" because the two levels are very different. Investing in Bitcoin is not about luck and fortune, you have to be consistent and hold it long term to achieve maximum profit. Until now no one can predict tomorrow's price, but those who consistently DCA for 4 consecutive years are much better than those who just wait for the right time. The luck of investing in Bitcoin is only one, you have to start faster than others.

If you have disposable income, get started, I think that's the key. Volatility will always be there, Bearish and Bullish can never be separated from the Bitcoin market, but whatever happens in the market, don't be afraid/panic and Fomo, the only antidote to prevent it is to always buy consistently. Here I also want to say that the formula you described is correct, using disposable income, managing cash flow, DCA consistently and letting investments grow in the long term.

If I may ask, he is far behind who or where in his Bitcoin accumulation? The reason I'm responding to you is because the tone of your comment makes it look like he is late therefore he need to hurry. Do you know what this will do to him as a newbie?
  • He will ignore the idea of investing with his discretionary income only, I guess you already know what problem this will cause for him
  • He will not consider setting up emergency funds and that will put the entire investment at risk because there is nothing to fall back to in case of emergency
  • He will likely FOMO when volatility becomes erratic because he has invested more than he can afford to lose or bear.
There are many other problems that can happen as a result of this line of comment from you and not only to him but to other newbies. Rather than this sort of ideas, it is better to let newbies know that they are right on time in their bitcoin accumulation, they just have to give the process time. Remember that whenever someone begins his investment journey is not relevant, what matters is how committed he is and the amount of time he is willing to do it consistently without selling.

You said you need to watch the market before buying Bitcoin. So tell me, how long should we watch before we start? A month, six months, or a full market cycle?

You should understand that if you just wait and see the charts, you can get busy guessing the meaning of every price change instead of becoming an expert in Bitcoin. And Bitcoin’s algorithm never guarantees that the market price will return to where it was. You are wrong in your assumption. Bitcoin’s limited supply and the creation of blocks and the operation of the network control it, but it does not guarantee at what price people will buy or sell. You are probably trying to confuse past results with the future. Just because the price has rebounded after a big drop in the past, you cannot guarantee that the same thing will happen after every future drop.

We cannot predict accurately, and with the right time can increase this profit I don't understand but what I catch here is that it means there will indeed be the right time to increase profits with none other than when the price rises but yes it is not clear when it will happen. It does not need to be considered because we better pay more attention to other things such as emergency funds that play an important role in the long term.

And to make an investment there is no right time, when we are ready to make an investment and feel able then immediately lakaukan not by waiting for the right time, this allows only will delay the investment only. But I agree with the finances themselves Yan orderly.

There is no right time to buy and /or increase your buying amount provided you have the financial power to do that. Are you in anyway suggesting that there is a right time to increase profit, as in increasing your amount of buy or what?, or you mean the right time to increase your buying amount is when the price rise? Your statement isn't really clear.

Buying Bitcoin consistently is necessary but timing the market isn't necessarily important. You can increase your buying amount if you have an extra income or an increased pay or a less expenses week or month. This way, you get to buy more BTC as usual and gradually grow your investment. If we Ignore market fluctuations and concentrate on continuous accumulation of Bitcoin, hopefully, we might get something tangible out of our investment in a long run

I don't think it would be a good move to completely ignore the market ups and downs, because you can take advantage of the market volatility to move towards your goal quickly. On the one hand, ignoring the market ups and downs can be a good move, if you have a tendency to panic or you are a weak-willed person, then try to ignore the market ups and downs. If you can enjoy the market ups and downs, then it is better not to ignore them.

When the market starts to show an upward trend, we can be more focused on protecting our investments, that is, on the backup fund, by being active with DCA. But when the market is down, we can focus more on investing and buy more Bitcoin at a low price. Even during the dip, instead of panicking, we can try to enjoy that time, the dip is not a time to panic, but a time to take opportunities according to our ability. However, I would suggest that you take steps according to your ability. Ignoring the market ups and downs or taking opportunities is not mandatory.

He is probably talking about speculating in the market to know the best entry point to maximize his potential to make more profit after this. Sometimes we need to take our time to understand the market truly; this is when we discover the season we are in and the recent performance from the market before we decide how to come in.

Of course over every investment we are making we should have a plan towards the position we are going totoake on it, another thing to consider is having a particular strategy that will enable us to maintain holding our investment after buying, just as you wanted to speculate to know the particular entry point you are giving to invest, everything in cryptocurrency Bitcoin investment comes with a step at a time and we must be deliberated on how we go about with anyone of them to make things work out as we expected.
This is also where the DCA plays it's role, you don't get to wait to understand the market before you decide how to come in but rather you can get in right away provided that you have your discretionary income for investment, trying to understand the market before you come in will lead you in to making an investment driven by emotion but with DCA you are free from this emotional stress, there is nothing like best entering point other than when you have your investment money and ready to be used, an investor don't get to be chasing the market waves before taking their decision.
