There is nothing wrong in learning how to withdraw our bitcoin and as a matter of fact that should be among the basic knowledge that one ought to know before going into bitcoin investment. however, knowing how to withdraw our bitcoin does not mean someone should focus on withdrawing any small profit they see in their bitcoin otherwise it becomes trading and it is not advisable for newbie to be trading bitcoin because there is a high chances of them losing their funds.
We may agree with you that, having different ideas of how to do things that are part of Bitcoin investment is good, calling learning withdrawal of profit whether small or big from your asset a basic knowledge is what I don't understand, what do you understand by basic knowledge in the first place? I think it is knowing how to start investing, which is mainly figuring out your discreationary income, and investing immediately as soon as it is available, withdrawal shouldn't be in the picture at first because you don't even have a portfolio to call your own as an intending investor, so of what use is withdrawal to you, one can learn how to withdraw along the line since it is not as important as figuring out your discreationary income, which will enable them to build a versed Bitcoin portfolio.

Many people here are very optimistic about the future of Bitcoin, I also and can ultimately benefit from investing with this belief. But even then, there should be a separate fund so that if the price of Bitcoin falls by 50-70% in the middle, someone may not have to sell Bitcoin at the worst possible time to meet emergency expenses, repay debt or meet any other important need.

So I support his saying “Invest as much as you can afford to lose”. However, newbies should not misunderstand this because losing does not mean that the money will actually be lost, but rather it is a way of conveying the risk of it.
I'm always of the opinion that people should know the risks involved in whatever investment endeavour they are going into and bitcoin isn't excluded because, let's face it, there is risk involved and even though bitcoin has never failed to impress over the years that it has been around there is still no guarantee that it won't fail tomorrow so anyone investing in bitcoin should do so while knowing that their success isn't guaranteed, invest from your discretionary income but more importantly invest with money you can afford to lose, I'm not saying you will lose it, I'm just saying that there is a possibility of it happening.

This is correct, before someone invest in bitcoin they need to understand the risk involved in investing in bitcoin and how the investment works. The moment someone invest without a prior knowledge of how bitcoin works they may be disappointed at the end because they started without understanding the risk that is involved in the investment. Most at times this may result to massive loss since they don't know the risk or were anticipating such risk and probably was never prepared or planned for such risk. It is important for anyone that wants to invest in bitcoin to understand the risk involved before they start to avoid starting with the wrong mindset.

Discretionary income it very important but won’t say learning about withdrawal isn’t of use due to the person is still building up portfolio. As a beginner they might start with just little now, but if they don’t grow up with understanding how to move out their BTC to their personal wallet it will later be a problem when they have sum up a big amount.

This withdrawals am taking about must not be about selling and profit, I can just be having to move you BTC from just an exchange to your own personal wallet just as simple as that. So my own opinion is, while someone is gradually building their portfolio, learning the basics  securing, buying and moving Bitcoin can still happen together as you grow/build.

There is no need for a beginner to feel pressured to learn everything at once. It is not necessary to understand everything perfectly at the beginning  wallet withdrawal self custody, security and then start Bitcoin. The most important thing is to understand your financial situation first. It is most important to find out whether the money you will use to buy Bitcoin is discretionary income or not. Because there is no point in ruining your financial safety while investing. And there is no need to make withdrawal the biggest priority at the beginning. If someone's Bitcoin holding is very small now then there is time to understand the exchange fees and basic security before transferring to a personal wallet. As the portfolio gradually grows, self custody and wallet management can also be learned. In the case of repeated transfers of low amounts transaction fees can also be a matter of consideration. For me the most sensible approach for a beginner is  first understand your financial limit keep an emergency fund start with a small amount of discretionary income and then gradually increase your knowledge. It is neither possible nor necessary to know everything about Bitcoin in one day. Market DCA wallet security everything can be learned over time. The most important thing is to create a plan that fits your income and financial situation and is possible to follow even when the market is bad.

Well the idea behind learning how to withdraw Bitcoin from the beginning doesn't necessarily mean the newbie investor is already preparing to withdraw any profit from Bitcoin or planning on becoming a trader by implications. But then learning how to withdraw Bitcoin from the beginning shouldn't be seen or made to seem so paramount, so unavoidable at that beginning stage. For sure trying to learn everything from the beginning before starting can be a useless delay and so not realistic. Therefore, the learning of withdrawing Bitcoin can be part of what a newbie investors can grabs on the long run or on the move, it should only remain paramount for newbie traders.

You must be aware of buying and selling along with basic knowledge about Bitcoin. Partial knowledge is not the mark of a smart investor. You need to gain complete knowledge about any subject and be patient to gain experience. After learning about Bitcoin initially, you should realize that this asset is one of the best digital assets for long-term investment.
Bitcoin can be risky for traders and traders who want to get profits in the short term. Even if the amount is small, stay regular in Bitcoin and accumulate regularly and be aware of the issue of sustainable withdrawal if necessary when the cycle is complete, but partial withdrawal is better and you should also continue accumulating Bitcoin.

We don’t have to be over confident when it comes to investing in bitcoin, the most important thing is doing the right things when we are investing in bitcoin, investing in bitcoin is all about risk, minimization of that risk is something that we should have as a priority, which is why it’s important to understand bitcoin in the aspect of investing in long term investment, holding for a long term gives us that leverage to be able to minimize risk.

There is absolutely no guarantee of having profits jus like you have emphasized, but consistency and regular buying and accumulating bitcoin would give an opportunity of having profits.

You are right, even if we cannot be properly informed about the future, if we continue to save Bitcoin in the long term, there will definitely be a possibility of achieving the desired profit target. There will be uncertainty, but not preparing for the future will be unwise. We need to be disciplined and regular without being overconfident in accumulation Bitcoin. You just mind that discretionary funds/extra fund reduce investment risk. It is not difficult for an investor to build a Bitcoin holding. There is no need to take risks if you think not necessary , you will just accumulate Bitcoin regularly in line with his daily income. Use discretionary income to reduce risk. But taking risks sometimes is suitable for successful investment in the interest of building a long term Bitcoin holding. Not taking risks for some time for the sake of long term interests creates a kind of risk which you should also keep in mind.

No doubt in what you are saying mate death is just one that that is guaranteed in life, there is no guarantee in Bitcoin investment that we are going to be successful or that we won't be successful it's two sided investment win or loss so those investing in Bitcoin should be able to know this and invest with they can afford to lose.

Bitcoin is volatile so we are not sure that we are going to make profits from it, i believe this is why we should invest with our discretionary income alone since we can't be sure of what the outcome will be come in the future time but we hope we become successful in a long run.

Investing in any asset be it Bitcoin or whatever without getting to know about that particular thing is a big mistake and it means that  the person has started failing already because when you fail to know and understand the needful it automatically means that someone has failed already because people who want to succeed in whatever they do always try to gather everything necessary concerning what they want to venture into before they even start and it is the right to thing do.

Learning withdrawal and at the same time learning Bitcoin investment process are literally nice idea to a very reasonable extent. Just the postulation of JJG's on outline of Bitcoin Investment Idea, is an educative idea to work with especially on Bitcoin investment. And investment needs quiet time and best commitment to have the needed knowledge to help escape losing capital investment rather than optimizing in profit making. So, I see that the best option should be learning the withdrawal methods before going into investment to gain at least the necessary basic knowledge of do and not in Bitcoin trading system. And if learning and investment basic knowledge are being split into categories the knowledge will appreciate and carry both task at the same time.

Even after a person has made a long-term plan, there is a need to withdraw. Of course, it can be. Because not all problematic situations are the same. If there is a situation where it becomes a question of life and death, then it is not unreasonable to withdraw.

It is not mandatory to learn how to withdraw money before starting investing. The so-called basic knowledge that we condition to learn at the beginning of investing is actually nothing more than a waste of time. If a new investor can set aside his discretionary income, then he should not be stopped with any excuse. There is no point in delaying learning the method of withdrawal in the beginning. Anyone can start with discretionary income in the beginning. Later he can decide for himself what to do.

Investing in an asset based solely on others advice  market rumors  or temporary price surges—without understanding the asset itself—is not a prudent approach. It is not essential to possess comprehensive knowledge before starting to invest . rather  understanding the necessary fundamentals is key.   more realistic approach involves being aware of one's own limitations while gradually building experience and knowledge over time. Investors must recognize that this is a high-risk and highly volatile digital asset. Decisions should be made by aligning the risks and potential of Bitcoin with one's financial goals and capacity. Attempting to make quick profits in the short term can be risky. If a new investor becomes overly excited by every price rise and panicked by every drop, they may easily make buying or selling decisions at the wrong time. When investing in Bitcoin, the quantity purchased is not the only factor that matters.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

As long as you have been able to take care of your essential expenses, if you happen to have some emergency cushion available to you at that point in time, putting in a small portion of genuine surplus into Bitcoin can let you have some exposure without putting yourself under too much financial pressure.
Just because you have some emergency savings doesn't mean it's safe to buy Bitcoin. Because if your emergency savings are very small, you may need to sell Bitcoin if your income or expenses suddenly stop. Then investment risk and financial-security risk come together. However, there is no rule that prohibits taking Bitcoin exposure until your financial security is 100% perfect. So first decide what is right for you according to your ability. Because what is right for Lil may be risky for X.

On the other hand, if the price of Bitcoin drops by 50% and you don't have to sell Bitcoin to anyone for months or years, will he/she be able to handle their essential living expenses and emergencies? This answer will not be the same for everyone.

Similarly, if the answer is yes, then investing a small portion of your surplus in Bitcoin is quite reasonable. But if the answer is no, then it is more important to strengthen your financial cushion first than to buy Bitcoin.
Look bro, as long as the amount you’re putting in into bitcoin is at a level of risk that you can afford to handle given your overall financial situation, it doesn’t matter whether you have large emergency funds or not before you can buy bitcoin; as long as you have atleast some reasonable amount of emergency buffer available to you, you’re good to go.

An allocation that is modest and comes from a genuine surplus can be very reasonable even if you have a relatively small cash buffer.
Whereas in some cases, putting in a large portion of your wealth into bitcoin may be reckless even when you have a substantial amount of emergency funds.

Why do i need to worry myself with trying to choose between building my financial cushion and investing when I could just do both simultaneously and adjust the proportions as my financial situation continues to improve ?

You need to understand that financial responsibility is not about trying to eliminate every risk before you can start investing, you just gotta make sure that any risk you take will not threaten your ability to meet your essential obligations, simple as that.

It does matter how much back up funds a brand new guy to bitcoin has.  If they have absolutely no back up funds, then they likely have to put some emphasis on making sure that their cash cushion is enough and if they have a large amount of back up funds, then they likely need to figure out ways to put way larger amounts of that into bitcoin, since they may well be overdoing it in regards to how much cash they are keeping while not having any bitcoin.

In bitcoin, it remains important to get started as soon as possible, and yeah, each person will also end up tailoring how they get started in accordance with their own financial and psychological situation and perhaps giving consideration to their 9 factors too.

So what are you advising him?

You are sounding as if  taking long to build a good foundation for your investment is wrong, if it will take you 1 year to build a very good foundation for your investment it is very good and it worth it.

You have two options to build a very strong and good foundation for your investment.
1. Build a very strong and good backup funds, which is emergency, reserve and float funds before starting your bitcoin investment or.

2. Divide your discretionary income into two part or you use 60% or 70% of your discretionary income to build your investment and the rest for your backup funds or you do it the other way round, any way you feel will be more convenient for you.

Number 1 sounds close to completely retarded, since there remains a lot of importance of getting started and building up bitcoin holdings and back up funds at the same time tends to be good.

It will be better that it take you 10 to 20 years to build a very good investment than rushing to start your investment and then find your self dipping hands into your investment every month to solve issues.

You, SuperBitMan, make is sound as if there is much if any value in building up cash first, before starting to buy bitcoin, which again sounds quite retarded to me, unless the guy has some specific uncertainties in his income and/or expenses that make it quite likely that he is going to have to dip into his back up funds.

The better way is to build the bitcoin and the back up funds simultaneously and figure out how much emphasis to give to 1) bitcoin buying, 2) back up funds and 3) discretionary consumption

Some people have spent 5 years in bitcoin investment but there investment has no strong foundation and they accumulate and dip hands, this has been there routine for years.

sounds like you are describing guys with a lack of focus in terms of their bitcoin accumulation or perhaps guys who lack discretionary funds.

Guys with 5 years investing into bitcoin should be able to make good bitcoin accumulation progress within a 5-year timeframe.

[edited out]
I'm saying that people shouldn't think that being able to save up to 6 months worth of emergency fund is easy, it will take time, rather than shot that high you can go for 3 months and then still make sure to keep your reserve fund in place.
Unless you are saying that 3 months worth of emergency fund isn't enough for an investor and they should save more, that is also the investor's choice but it's not just about talking about saving uo to 6 months but rather about being able to actually pull it off.

Guys have to figure out their focus, yet if they are seriously accumulating bitcoin, it seems a bit of overkill to believe that it is necessary to have much more than 3 months of back up funds, except in cases in which income and/or expenses are quite uncertain and likely to cause needs to tap into such back up funds.

If guys are beginner investors into bitcoin, they should be investing an amount that they can afford to lose, and so therefore, they likely would not be focusing on price for at least a whole cycle, so if they already have a budget to buy bitcoin every week based on their discretionary funds, they should not be concerned about price and they are continuing to buy, so if the BTC price ends up going down 50% then they are getting 2x the amount of bitcoin that they had been getting previously each week for the same amount of dollars.
That is one of the benefits of using the DCA strategy. A beginner who has  discretionary income, using the DCA strategy can buy bitcoin whenever they want base on the their accumulation plan be it weekly or monthly without having to worry about bitcoin price movement and this totally takes away the pressure of having to time or try to predict  the  market.

Also I would like to correct  that part in your writing that says “money you can afford to lose” because it can give beginners the wrong mindset. As a long term investor it is better to use discretionary income which is the money left after taking care of necessary expenses.

Investing money that you can afford to lose is the correct expression.  Guys (whether newbies or more experience investors) should not be investing into bitcoin with money that they cannot afford to lose (either financially or psychologically), so they have to figure out a balance and not get too attached to the money that they are putting into bitcoin, especially if they may well would have considered that their bitcoin investment timeline is 4-10 years or longer and if they do not have age and/or health considerations that restrict their bitcoin investment timeline, then most likely they would be planning to invest into bitcoin for 10 years or longer.

[edited out]
I understand that it takes years to build backup of that amount. I’m not making light of that, I was just giving an example of different guys and their different financial situations especially someone who has already built a standard back up not one just starting out, to drive my point.

Yes everyone can’t be in the same position or situation. Backup funds aren’t necessarily for only Bitcoin, so a guy who has no investment in bitcoin but may have several other businesses or other investments can still have up to 3-6 months of expenses set aside. And if that person decides to invest in bitcoin he doesn’t need to put priority on building backup funds.
For someone just starting out he can just build his backups as he invests, as much as he can. It all depends on the investor and where their priorities lie; they can decide to be more aggressive with building their bitcoin portfolio or building a substantial backup.

What I said in the previous comment was to drive a point that even if you’ve built a sufficient backup of 3-6 months you don’t need to totally stop adding to it. Because as your investment grows so too does the amount you have exposed to risks and the need to protect it.
A large holding requires a large buffer.

A guy who starts out with 3-6 months of back up funds before he even starts out buying bitcoin likely has way too much money in cash. He may well need to take half of his cash and put it straight into bitcoin in order to bring more balance towards his beginning approach.

Of course, in the end guys have to make their choices, yet it can be quite problematic to put too much emphasis on cash for guys who are still early in their bitcoin accumulation phase.  Don't be overly emphasizing cash unless you have some specific reason such as problematic and instable income and/or problematic and instable expenses that might well result in  in likely needs to tap into back up funds.  Otherwise it is probably better for beginners to bring their bitcoin holdings up to some level that is similar to their cash holdings and to build the back up funds and the bitcoin holdings at a similar rate, and maybe after a guy reaches 3 months of back up funds and three months of expenses invested into bitcoin, then he would be able to put even more emphasis on building the bitcoin at even faster rate than any back up funds that he keeps and/or continues to build.

divide your discretionary income into three use part, part A for investment, part B for emergency funds and part C for your discretionary consumption, after getting all this, you increase your investment when you have increase in your income or in your discretionary income, so that you continue to accumulate more bitcoin.
You’re mixing your discretionary income with your earnings. How can you still divide your discretionary income into three different ways when the money alone is meant for investing? That’s the money you can afford to lose because you have taken care of your expenses. From the moment you start to invest in Bitcoin, the money you invest with, that’s your discretionary income. You can increase your discretionary income along the way to any amount you feel comfortable investing.

Emergency funds are different from discretionary income, and there is no way you can remove your emergency funds from your discretionary income. It’s not necessary to increase your discretionary income if you do not reduce your expenses or get a payment increase from your income. You may end up investing more than you can afford. Just maintain your investment plan and continue buying.

You are confusing SmartCharpa.  If income goes up and/or expenses go down, then discretionary income would end up going up.  We are not choosing how much is our discretionary income except to the extent that we have control over our income and/or our expenses, so the discretionary income reflects the amount of money remaining after accounting for our expenses... and when we have our discretionary income amount then we can choose how much of that discretionary income that we want to put into investing, savings and/or discretionary consumption.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

The idea of someone has to finish building some cash aside, before starting buying bitcoin, it seen to me as totally waste of opportunities, because both the cash and bitcoin position can be built at the same time without you hoping for one to finish before starting another one. The must important point here is to start accumulating your bitcoin investment no matter what, in gradually and consistently process. As a serious investor who truly believe in long term bitcoin investment, don’t have to delay their starting of bitcoin accumulation, even if they don’t have enough money, they can small and be consistent with it until they build a meaningful bitcoin position.

I think your answer is very appropriate, because simultaneously utilizing both activities will maximize our time, so if the results are in our favor, they will also occur simultaneously.

Wasteful behavior often occurs in the way people treat themselves. If they can do both simultaneously, why do them separately? Consistently it's better to do both simultaneously as our minds will naturally be focused on one goal and not think about multiple things, which ultimately results in less than optimal results.

If an uncertain income ends up leading to an uncertain discretionary then they wouldn't even be able to afford an emergency fund in the first place.
I just feel like it someone has the discretionary income and want to save up that much emergency fund then it's their choice but there is nothing mandating anyone to save up to 6 months worth of emergency fund, 3 months will serve and if they actually lose their source of income the they can move to reduce their expenses and by doing that they can then extend their 3 months worth of emergency fund to even past that 3 months as well.
Also if someone has a rough idea that they might need more emergency fund in the near future then they can also save up more, they should just make sure to not ignore their investment in the process.

I fully agree with you on this point. There is no need to wait until the cash reserve is fully built up before buying Bitcoin both can be done simultaneously. While it may take time for an investor to establish an emergency fund that doesn't mean Bitcoin accumulation needs to be completely delayed.

However I would be a bit cautious about the "invest no matter what" approach. One shouldn't jeopardize basic needs bills or essential expenses for the sake of Bitcoin. If someone has a lower income or is under financial pressure the investment amount can be reduced. It is also perfectly normal to pause investments for a while if the situation becomes critical. Investments should be made in a way that doesn't compromise one's financial stability.

The key isn't the size of the investment but rather staying regular and consistent within your means. You can build both a cash reserve and a Bitcoin holding side by side this ensures financial safety while allowing you to gradually build your Bitcoin position.

What's the essence of someone forcing himself to invest when he cannot hold strong or take proper care of his or her basic needs?
In such a scenario it will only be but a matter of time before he sell of his investment and use the money to take care of his basic needs that was initially ignored, so I totally agree with you on this that it's very necessary to first take care of all your basic needs first before thinking of investing what is left, which is the available discretionary income.

Any investment made outside our discretionary income will never end well because it's an act of gambling with money meant for other basic needs.

If someone does not have enough money to invest, then it is definitely not right for that person to invest. Because he does not have investable money, the amount of money he has is not the entire required amount of money and investing this required amount of money will never be the right decision. Every person should first focus on their financial security and when they are able to find a safe investable money or a source of discretionary income from their financial situation, then they can start investing.

We need a source of discretionary income to invest and if someone does not have this source of discretionary income, then it is not right for him to invest at all and if he buys Bitcoin with the intention of investing, then he has definitely become involved in gambling in the name of investment.
