To invest in Bitcoin, we must know how to maintain our Bitcoin investment, whether we are a new Bitcoin investor or an old investor, it mainly depends on the strategy we follow. The more you follow the Bitcoin investment strategy, the more likely you are to succeed in the future.
Hope you know that there is different between maintaining and protecting your investment, in maintaining our Bitcoin investment, we need to continuously have our discreationary income income as without it, we can not invest properly, as for the strategy that works perfectly for every investor, the DCA strategy is the answer.

Quote
Therefore, it is most important to form an emergency fund, because only an emergency fund will protect your Bitcoin investment and make it possible to travel safely in the future.
Therefore, along with Bitcoin investment, it is important to form a Bitcoin emergency fund.
I don't think that at this level, anyone will ignore the importance of emergency funds as whats safeguard our Bitcoin investment during unexpected financial challenges, it means that, both our emergency funds and discreationary income are very much needed for us to acumulate Bitcoin and hodl without reconsidering our earlier stance of investing for a long-term by selling off some part of your Bitcoin.

The moment someone failed to hold bitcoin for a long term they automatically become a trader whether it was part of their plans initially or not . The main reason why most people do panic is mostly as a result of investing with money that is for their basic needs and they can afford to lock this money away for years. Therefore there is tendency for them to Panic and make decisions based on fear.
Holding bitcoin for a long term doesn't mean it is guaranteed for a successful returns.
We can arguably say there is guarantee of making profit when bitcoin is held over a long period of time. going by it’s behaviour and history, there has never been anyone that has come out to say that they held bitcoin for long time that didn’t get a reasonable return of investment, if it wasn’t guaranteed we won’t even be wasting our time advocating for long term storage, believe in bitcoin, believe in its long term holding rewards.
You’re wrong, investing in bitcoin for the long term doesn’t guarantee you anything, there are people who invest in bitcoin without having the mindset of ROI, we are always advised to keep buying and investing in bitcoin for the long term because it gives an opportunity for profits but doesn’t give you a guarantee of profits, first of all you’ve to stay consistent with buying bitcoin to have whatever chance of profit you’re talking about, I think everyone might have different priorities when investing in bitcoin.

There are people who have been investing in bitcoin for years but doesn’t care about profits, you might be investing for decades and still end up not having a profit, anything is possible.

One thing people don't understand is that the past doesn't determine the future, the future is unknown and anything is possible even negative things too, although we always hope for the positive ones. The history of Bitcoin is just a proof of how successful it has been although it can be motivating and make people have conviction that it would keep doing better.

However nothing is guaranteed, which is why we're investing with our discretionary funds, if long term success was guaranteed many would sold all their properties including using funds for essentials to buy it.

there are people who invest in bitcoin without having the mindset of ROI,
You right cause not every Bitcoin investor are investing mainly for profit, some people are more focused on building a Bitcoin posible or to protect part of their savings over time. So the goal will be different from simply buying now and having to sell it later for profit. This are why I would say we should be careful with the idea of long term holding guarantees anything. Having to hold for many years gives somone more time experience of different market cycles and result will still depend on their entry prices. Amount being accumulated and what they are eventually doing with their Bitcoin.

Is there anyone who is investing in Bitcoin without the objective to make profit? Well the answer to this question is NO! Anyone who is investing in Bitcoin is doing it for the purpose of making profit either in the short term or in the future just that it is not advisable to invest with the short term mindset because it can make someone panic or sell at loss because the market is very volatile. The fact that  people are saving their fiat in Bitcoin doesn't mean they are only protecting it because if there is no profit at the end they wouldn't have save...

I believe that there are some wealthy people who are investing in bitcion to preserve their wealth against inflation since, fiat losses its purchasing power overtime. Why are countries trying to see how they can have their own bitcoin reserve, it's to preserve part of the country wealth because bitcoin has proved to be a store of value overtime.

If you invest in traditional assets, they're still prune to inflation since, government policy can affect the business and if you save your money in the bank, it loses its purchasing power overtime. This is why bitcoin is a good asset to throw some value into. Future profit is only an additional benefits for putting your discretionary income into bitcoin and hodli overtime.

Going by what has been the thing of Bitcoin, Bitcoin has remain futuristic, even though it has been frequently said that nothing is guarantee in Bitcoin investment, I think nothing has changed about Bitcoin, is that not a justification for any investor to leverage on to continue to invest with the mindset that they future might be favourable to him or her.

However, you are right that the reason why most people still buy Bitcoin cautiously with their discreationary income is because of the term you streesd on which is nothing is assured, if not, maybe some people that are not well to do financially would have not had any Bitcoin.

having $80k remains doesn't mean you should it all into bitcoin, exepecially for the newbies. Let's assume the $80k are your discretionary income available and you don't have any backup funds aside, if actually you invest all the $80k once, trust the would be a big problem, because any little emergency can force you to sell everything just to settle the bills, and you are actually selling it at a big lost, I can attest that, most beginners usually fall into this kind of victim, because there was no proper plans at initial stage.
The ideas of DCA strategy is the best  than putting all the funds into it at once, though it's a choice, if i have the 80k, I just will use 40k savings for only qll my expenses or as an emergency funds, then the 40k left can be invested into bitcoin using DCA strategy, investing like $100  every week gradually for and holding it for long-term period, once all my expenses are settled, I will then proceed to increase my stacking to 200 or more Comfortably, because I know I don't have to be panicking anymore whenever emergency comes over.

Enough of this assumption, how is that even possible for a guy to be getting $80k as discretionary income does he pay bills? Do they have expenses to take care of? A guy who  has responsibility is unlikely to have such a huge amount of money as discretionary income. Let's assume a guy is getting $80k in his discretionary income, if the guy is a newbie then I will say there's no problem if they want to go all in especially during their first time of buying bitcoin. You know when a beginner get involved in a good investment such as bitcoin they will want Their Bitcoin portfolio to grow to a better level in less than one week or two, but I would suggest that even though they will want to do that maybe in their first time of buying Bitcoin, then when next they figure out their discretionary income they shouldn't go all-in but to try as much as they can to save up for emergency and backup even though it requires keeping 20% for each of the funds then they can decide to go all in with the remaining 60% then when they notice that they have gone far in accumulating bitcoin then they can start prioritizing Their emergency funds and backup funds by increasing the percentage, that's instead of 20% they will have to increase it to 30% or more for each of the funds then put the remaining 40% into their bitcoin investment.
For a new investor, investing all of their discretionary income in the first month may seem like a strong decision or a good thing, but in reality, it can often create a weak position. If they don't have an emergency fund in place, it's probably important for them to balance that money between small emergencies, family expenses, and buying Bitcoin. Rather than investing too much, it's more important to make decisions based on your ability. Especially for a new person who hasn't yet tested market fluctuations, their patience, and how they will behave in times of sudden need. If the price drops, the problem is not just the loss on paper, but if they have an emergency, serious medical needs, family expenses, or a salary cut, they may have to sell at a time that goes against their long-term plans.

Let's assume a guy is getting $80k in his discretionary income, if the guy is a newbie then I will say there's no problem if they want to go all in especially during their first time of buying bitcoin.
For a newbie this is definitely the worst kind of advice you can give, because if we are assuming their person is a newbie we can also assume they don't have their emergency fund or any backup fund in place, if they go all in on buying bitcoin with that $80k then they end up with 80k worth of bitcoin and $0 worth of emergency fund, the moment something goes wrong they will have to sell their bitcoin, it's a no-brainer.
But if they split the money between their investment, their emergency fund and also their discretionary spendings, now the percentage for this split is up to the individual but splitting their discretionary income into 3 parts is the best move for a newbie who wants to invest in bitcoin.
To invest in Bitcoin, we must know how to maintain our Bitcoin investment, whether we are a new Bitcoin investor or an old investor, it mainly depends on the strategy we follow. The more you follow the Bitcoin investment strategy, the more likely you are to succeed in the future. Therefore, it is most important to form an emergency fund, because only an emergency fund will protect your Bitcoin investment and make it possible to travel safely in the future.
Therefore, along with Bitcoin investment, it is important to form a Bitcoin emergency fund.
An emergency fund is money set aside to cover unexpected medical expenses, job loss, or other unforeseen expenses. It is not a requirement or the only protection for investing in Bitcoin. The important thing in investing is to use money that you will not need in the near future and that will not cause problems with your daily life or essential expenses if its value decreases.

Having an emergency fund does not eliminate Bitcoin price fluctuations or market risk. The value of Bitcoin can drop significantly. An emergency fund should be seen as an important part of financial security. But not the only basis for investment success.

You should know that your emergency fund doesn't just serve your bitcoin investment, it serves your entire life, even people who are not investing in bitcoin should have emergency fund and that's also why some people can come into bitcoin investment with their emergency fund already in place because they understand that having an emergency fund is one way to pull through unexpected circumstances that can come up in life.

Just like your investment, your emergency fund also comes from your discretionary income and sometimes you will find people assuming that since they should invest with their discretionary income and also invest with money they can afford to lose them their entire discretionary income equals money they can afford to lose, this is simply not true, our discretionary income is what's left after we've paid for our basic expenses but that doesn't mean we can afford to lose, at least not all of it.
So if someone what's to invest in bitcoin, they should ask themselves what amount of their discretionary income can they tolerably invest with, there is no point in being overly aggressive if you can't handle it.

There are people who have been investing in bitcoin for years but doesn’t care about profits, you might be investing for decades and still end up not having a profit, anything is possible.
Your statement sound as if you are spreading fears because someone that put this in mind will not hesitate to sell whenever the investment is in good profits. It may not be what you intend to convey but that is the interpretation some people can give that statement because no one would want to invest in Bitcoin and not see profits.

There is always high chances of getting profits when the investor holds for long which is why long term investment is recommended as Bitcoin have shown that the gain is in having faith to hold for as long as necessary.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

there are people who invest in bitcoin without having the mindset of ROI,
You right cause not every Bitcoin investor are investing mainly for profit, some people are more focused on building a Bitcoin posible or to protect part of their savings over time.
Anyone who is investing in Bitcoin is doing it for the purpose of making profit either in the short term or in the future

Get the fuck out of here with your dogmatic proclamations that investing into bitcoin is all about profits.

Take that nonsense to the trading threads.

It seems that I have addressed this issue too many times, and it is getting tiring seeing guys proclaiming that bitcoin investing is all about profits, when it is not.

You are distracted with such framing.

just that it is not advisable to invest with the short term mindset because it can make someone panic or sell at loss because the market is very volatile.

So you want to focus on "long term profits" rather than short term profits?  How are you getting anywhere with that supposedly innovative way of thinking?  Maybe you should read the OP and 10 or 20 of the pages of the thread to help you to think about if there might potentially be other reasons to be "into bitcoin" besides being focused on profits.

And, yeah, if you don't want to read the thread or figure what it is about, then maybe go to some other thread and talk about your supposedly enlightened profit mindset.   Or maybe it is just better for me to delete the posts that want to proclaim that bitcoin is all about profits? since that is not true, and it is not necessary as a framework - especially the way that you are describing the matter as either long term profits (which is good) or short term profits (which is supposedly not good, yet I would imagine if you are merely into profits, then why should it matter if they are long term profits or short term profits?).

The fact that  people are saving their fiat in Bitcoin doesn't mean they are only protecting it because if there is no profit at the end they wouldn't have save...

Huh.  You got it all figured out.  Right? From your perspective, it all boils down to profits, right?.   Can you think about some better arguments, or should I just start to delete your posts and other guys who want to continue to dogmatically argue the profits angle of bitcoin?

You right cause not every Bitcoin investor are investing mainly for profit, some people are more focused on building a Bitcoin posible or to protect part of their savings over time.

There is a self sovereignty angle of bitcoin that includes having options and hedging that are not necessarily tied to bitcoin being in profits, so the motives of self sovereignty, hedging and having options are not necessarily about profits.  Are we going to proclaim that Satoshi got into bitcoin for profits, too?  Seems a bit retarded (even though guys are going to do it) to frame Satoshi's motives in terms of the profits that he was expecting to get from bitcoin...and yeah, guys are going to make that profits' argument and proclaim that they got everything related to bitcoin (and other aspects of the world and human motivations) figured out.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Of course, there are people who are investing in bitcoin with other objective rather than profit, even though I don't have evidence in what I'm saying but the reason why I believe that Their are people who are investing with other objective rather than profit is because Bitcoin have  other roles to play, a person can decide to channel his savings into Bitcoin just so that inflation will not eat them up because it is much safer when its been save in Bitcoin during inflation, you can see that there are more reason why some people are holding Bitcoin? So not everyone is going with the objective of making profit from their bitcoin investment.

I completely understand your point very well, I think everyone has their different reasons why they are involved in bitcoin these days, but some folks overlook these things especially when talking about bitcoin, they only view bitcoin as of profit and forget that some people get into bitcoin with different mindset not purposely for profit.

Profit is not the only thing that make bitcoin valuable for some people, must people involved to have total control over their money, and also have another option whenever the traditional financial system doesn’t favor them. I also believe that not everyone investing in bitcoin today are waiting for price drop or high, some people reason for holding bitcoin is completely different.

Going into bitcoin with such profit mindset would distract you from understanding other relevance of investing in bitcoin which includes as a store of value. Most times we make that mistake of putting profit first. This has led many investors into various levels of losses because it exposes you into focusing on the chart instead of focusing on your accumulation process.

For me, the most interesting part of investing in bitcoin is as a store of value. Bitcoin helps to remove the effect of inflation on your savings no matter the fiat you saved, it is still prone to inflation.

Again, holding Bitcoin in self custody gives keeps your money safe from government policies and unnecessary taxations which are continuously going on in the banking sector. When you have full control of your money, it will be easier for you to transfer onto your family members incase of your demise and avoid wealth loss just by revealing your seed phrase to a trusted family member who would take control of your wallet should anything happen.

There are many benefits of investing in bitcoin and profit is almost the least of them.

I don't think it is the same thing to not invest for profit. And not care about the financial result. If someone has Bitcoin with the primary goal of saving for the long haul. He/she still needs to ask himself/herself whether the amount he/she is purchasing. The entry price and time horizon are suitable for the long haul goal. Additionally I believe that the term store of value should not be interpreted as a guarantee of bitcoin's success. It is an investment idea that must be substantiated over the long run and for this reason. It is essential to have a plan rather than just deciding to stick with an investment for a long period of time.

Bitcoin is an asset that appreciates in value overtime, so it's logical to see it as an asset you can keep your money in, so that it wouldn't be eaten away by inflation. I may agree with you that nothing is 100% guarantee, and it may not rise as we expected, but the chances of Bitcoin being a success in the future is extremely high, because of it huge potential it still have ahead of him.

Quote
It is essential to have a plan rather than just deciding to stick with an investment for a long period of time.
What plan do you have in mind?
Or you plan to sell prematurely or you want to try to act smart in the market by trading it for minimal gains?
I think you should throw more light on the plans you are talking about, but if you are thinking that selling off your holdings later in the future and become a no coiner overnight is a plan, then it's a terrible idea that you might leave to regret in no distance time.

I also agree with you on this part, Not buying bitcoin mainly for profit does not mean you should ignore the money involved. If your goal is to save bitcoin for a longer time, you still need to think about how much you’re buying too, the price the price you’re paying and how long you plan to hold it.

Also calling bitcoin a store of value doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to keep it value. It’s something that need to prove it self overtime. Again holding bitcoin for many years cannot be a plan it self. One should have clear reason for holding them and also know what they want to achieve.
