If we look at this from different angles, I don’t think an older person will simply follow the discretionary income path, for sure an older person already has a house and a car and maybe more so is it reasonable for an older person to trust Bitcoin enough to sell everything they own just to invest and wait for the big boom?
Bro investment does not need any age limit because death is certain and it is unpredictable every human being does not know when will they die also for investment in bitcoin a person whether he is older or younger he does not have to sell everything and invest it in bitcoin because before investment a person has to understand his risk tolerance capability and then start investing with a discretionary income especially in bitcoin also for older peoples it is necessary to invest there money in assets that give them returns without hard work so let the money work for them. Look bro, the fact that death is certain but unpredictable is not in itself a justification for a person to invest at any age or in any asset of their choice. If at all, that uncertainty about life should be more reason for a person to be more deliberate about how they manage the money that they have. Certainly, age does not disqualify anyone from investing in bitcoin, but i still think we need to differentiate between the ability to invest and the ability to withstand the consequences if the investment probably goes wrong. A 25year old and a 70 year old might both have the capacity to buy bitcoin, but they may not have the same time left to recover from a prolonged bear market because of the age gap, especially if they depend on that money to survive. And when you said older people should invest and let their money work for them, did you ask yourself a question of what will happen if that money stop ls working in their favor?, what gonna happen then?, or you think that money will just automatically become productive simply because it was put into an asset?, hell no. It only becomes productive when the potential returns justifies the risks that were taken to obtain them.

I’m more concerned about the technical aspect of them understanding how to independently run and manage their investments and secure their private keys properly without falling into the hands of scammers. For most aged people, the technical complexity that might come from investing in bitcoin could be difficult and stressful for many of them to handle it properly. However, I think if they can still be able to handle the investment properly and securely then there’s no problem if they get involved In bitcoin investment at such age. But most adults are in a phase of their life where they should be leaving off a fixed incomes instead of them trying to chase high risk investments.
Which technical complexities? I think you should stop making bitcoin investment look like an impossible task. Buying and holding bitcoin isn't that hard, neither is it very difficult to preserve your seed phrases offline, It is as simple as writing something down on a diary and storing it where no stranger can access it easily. Age is not a limiting factor to invest into bitcoin, as long as you've discretionary income and you want to get into bitcoin, there is no limitation. An aged parent might wish to secure the financial future of their children in bitcoin and invest what they would want to pass down as inheritance to them, bitcoin is an asset of value and can be inherited by the next generation. You don't have to be a techie to buy and hold Bitcoin. Security should be taken seriously. But it's not right to portray it as a difficult task that ordinary people can't learn or do. It's not mandatory to be young to invest in Bitcoin. Just like a young person can save Bitcoin thinking about their future. An older person can also invest considering their financial situation. What's more important than age is their financial situation, objectives, and ability to take risks. If they understand the risks of Bitcoin and want to invest in the long term, there is no logical reason to discourage them because of their age. If a parent wants to leave some assets for their children's future, they can consider buying Bitcoin according to their financial ability and storing it for the long term. If the goal is to transfer the assets to the next generation, it is important to create a succession plan while they are alive. However if the heirs do not have the necessary instructions, the assets may be lost permanently. Although it is possible to leave Bitcoin as an inheritance, it is not certain how much it will be worth in the future. Bitcoin can be considered a long-term asset alongside other savings and assets, considering one's financial capacity and risk. Gaining the necessary knowledge in investing is important but acquiring that knowledge should not be made unnecessarily scary. Opportunities for learning should be created easily so that people can make their own decisions based on proper knowledge and consideration. not out of fear or misconceptions.

You have a good point here. Let's say that in the last 9 to 10 years back bitcoin has actually superseded real Estate or property rather, but some folks are still believing that property is more safer than bitcoin because they are seeing it physically, though we have a lots of properties, like having house for rent is much different because it can be generating income, purchasing a bigger land and leave it for several years is can never beat the value of bitcoin, I knew many people that bought property for so long around 2017 and 2018 are now regretting why they didn't inves in bitcoin at that time, because hadn't been they invest that same money into bitcoin hold it to date, they would have been doing better at time time. Example now, the person that uses like 10M Naira to buy land In 2918, may definitely trying to sell it around 15 millions naira in BTC now, and if Bitcoin in 2018 work around $6k would worth like over 260m Naira without any stress. In addition to what you have just said, I think one of the reasons why most people still prefer property and Fiat rather than Bitcoin is due to the decentralized nature of Bitcoin. They are used to local bank that they usually go to the nearest branch to make complaints whenever they are having issues, so Bitcoin doesn't have that feature that is why they have chose not to participate in this game we are playing, but I believe some day they will definitely regret why they didn't start when it was somehow cheaper compare to the price as at that time. I keep telling my friends who are yet to get involved in bitcoin investment that the earlier they start accumulating bitcoin the better for them and This also goes to those folks who are procrastinating at the same time giving excuses; An opportunity lost is lost forever there's no way you can bring it back.

Bitcoin investment is not impossible neither is it rosey because sometimes one will encounter challenges that can even pose a threat on their Bitcoin investment even to the point of trying to sell that is why it is not all rosey. Saving seed phrase can be easy like you said but the problem is how secure and safe it is where you wrote it down because our seed phrase can never be 100 percent secure or save because it can be compromised mistakenly or misplaced. Age is not a factor but I would not advise an under 10 to be thinking about Bitcoin investment I mean their parents can handle it for them till they are of age.

What is completely wrong is investing through FOMO be it during dips or other times. Investment made under FOMO will not consider remaining within the discretionary income because emotions are high at that point. While I agree that someone can be more aggressive during the dips, I do not subscribe to waiting idly for it. The investor can be using the DCA method to buy other times and if there is significant dips, then he can draw up extra budget to accumulate more bitcoin during that dip while the DCA purchase is allowing to proceed smoothly.
Why wait when they can consistently buy and meet different dips, the DCA is the best way anyone can accumulate Bitcoin cause people who use it would meet several opportunities that doesn't need them to wait for it. And they don't need getting funds elsewhere to buy dips but manage their income more Bitcoins can be bought when opportunity arises. Or, figuring out ways to increase the discretionary funds for that to be possible. However it's not the end of the world for those who can't increase their discretionary funds to seize good buying opportunities, so far they're consistent with their accumulation, they're good to go.

Bitcoin doesn't become worthless for someone just because they're older. Before you discourage someone from investing because they're older, you need to consider a few things. Before you discourage them, you need to distinguish whether the person is buying Bitcoin for their own expenses, or if they want to keep the wealth for their heirs. If that person is investing money that they will need urgently for their medical and living expenses, then your objection is valid. Because if they hold back their money just because the price will go up in the future, then their current needs may be in trouble.
Age does not matter for investment. If a person has discretionary income despite being old, he can use it for investment. And since Bitcoin investment is long-term and most investors build a long-term Bitcoin portfolio considering the future of their successors, even if a person is old enough, he can still consider his next generation and create Bitcoin for the next generation. And if they do this, their next generation may also consider them wise for this because they can then get much more financial success for this investment. Yes, age is not a factor for investment. An investor can invest easily even if he is old. In fact, there is no age limit for investment. Anyone can invest and that too at any time. If he has a sensible income or has money to invest. However, I think those who are in their 50s or above should inform their descendants about this, or give them a hint. However, if an investor really invests thinking about his next generation, then it will definitely be a great plan or decision.

Unless in case where by they are holding to leave some inheritance for the next generation. So at this instance age may not necessarily be a factor because of the reason behind the person long term holding. However as for those that is actually holding for the value to appreciate over time so that they will take profits, if they are 90+, it may affect how long they will hold.

I have frequently stated that even less than a 10 year investment timeline might end up being that way based on age/health kinds of considerations that would not allow for investing longer than 10 years. We cannot just assume that guys want to structure their timeline to go past their own life, even though there are some guys who don't mind structuring successorship kinds of situation - and of course, guys who had not planned successorship kinds of situations will frequently end up dying prior to their intention (or their expectations), so then there might be successorship questions about their bitcoin whether they hold them in private wallets or if they hold them with third parties. How does what you are saying make any sense at all? What if we assume no successor relation, then how would someone 90+ invest and then later spend? When is the later? We should probably try to think in terms of practicality when bringing up such extreme examples, and yeah, it is true that some 90+ folks are planning for their successors, yet you are talking holding 15-20 or more years.. and even planning to hold 4 years is not to likely to be a very reasonable consideration.. unless the 90+ person has all kinds of assets and they are just deciding which value to put where.. This example and your discussion is hurting my head even thinking about such a niche situation as if it were applicable to this thread. Yes, people get old and their age/health and successorship plans become relevant to their bitcoin considerations and how they deal with it is very dependent on the details.

If a person invests in Bitcoin at an older age, because after getting a job and retiring, if he participates in Bitcoin investment and wants to keep it for a long time, then he can definitely keep it. Because his purpose is long-term and he has to leave his Bitcoin investment to the next generation and the seed phrase of this wallet has to be left to the next generation and he has to tell it how to use it. Because people are mortal, people can die even at a young age, so there should be no secret about it because you are investing in Bitcoin, you should tell someone you trust. It is better to adopt a strategy that your BTC can be recovered after that person dies, I am a student, I invest in Bitcoin, I must have told my trusted person so that they can recover my Bitcoin if I die, this is the best. So a person of any age can invest in Bitcoin for the long term, there is no obstacle in it.

Though is not easy finding someone trust worthy. Personally , that’s not something one should rush. Is something that will require one to take he or her time , before making such decisions on who to trust your assets . Because picking the wrong person may even lead you to your grave faster . That’s why privacy play a crucial role in this space . However, having the right person who can take care of your assets when you’re no longer around is a big flex.Over the years, a lot of Bitcoin has been lost because its owners passed away without leaving access to their assets or someone to inherit them. This is why is good to educate those close to you about bitcoin. So that they will also know how its works. And you can clearly to do that without enclosing your holding or assets to anyone .

Individuals might consider age as a factor when it comes to making investments in Bitcoin, because you don’t expect someone who is in his 90’s to ongoingly continue investment in Bitcoin, at that age should be considered an age for enjoying our bitcoin investment profit or whatever success we might have had while investing in bitcoin, It’s expected that we must have gotten to our over accumulation stages and then we can start taking our profits. However as an investor in bitcoin we can decide to do what would really work for us, age doesn’t necessarily affect us to invest in bitcoin, instead it gives us opportunity to do what we like and something that is absolutely essential for our happiness, there are people who are willing to keep investing and not considering age for their long term investment, I believe there might be people who approach bitcoin with the sense of accomplishment.

Kudos for this clarification because I was actually having some controversy with the idea that anyone can invest in bitcoin provided they have a discretionary income but then practically, Age and health related issues can become a problem why they may not be able to carry on the investment properly. If we are being realistic, most 90+ aged folks barely remember names of their children or grand children except they are being told, now how do you think such a person can remember his private key or passwords or even if he had it put up somewhere around his corners, he might as well forget or he will be needing assistance from elsewhere and what if the person assisting him is not trustworthy it can become problematic . I’ve witnessed a case like that before so I know what I’m talking about. I’m not trying to say that all of them aged 90+ are like that but majority of them are weak and their body and system may not carry them anymore to continue having a proper funds allocation to regularly buy bitcoin and HODL, that’s the angle I’m looking at.

This is certainly not easy for those of your age to invest. At the age you mentioned, I also completely agree with your statement that at that age people should simply enjoy the results they have accumulated over the years of investing in Bitcoin. Because at that age, health is getting worse especially when thinking about investment it is certainly difficult to protect or play a role like when we were young who were very active in investing in Bitcoin and this is one example or lesson for us to keep in mind the topic we are discussing so that we do not experience something like that when we are over 60 and above and this depends on us in planning for our future so that we are no longer busy doing or looking for results from investments for us to enjoy which is clear use your youth to look before old age comes which we can only do by enjoying the results of our struggles or profits that we have after collecting a large amount of the profits we have.

I was not even referring to technological or competency questions, but instead timeline questions, and at a certain point it makes more sense to either be maintaining or liquidating assets rather than still building. Health concerns have to do with timeline and ability to enjoy, so if a person had spent 30-40 years or more building wealth.. and yeah, presumptively a person who is 90 might have spent 70 years building.. and I am not even sure if it is realistic to presume that he is still building rather than liquidating or engaging in sustainable withdrawal.. so even a guy who is 70- years old may well have had entered into liquidation and sustainable withdrawal rather than still building his investment. Of course if a guy is starting at completely zero investments and he is 70, then his timeline of 4-10 years or more would be one of his individual factors that he would have to take into account, and yeah, building bitcoin between 70 and 74 might work for some guys... and then a 4 year timeline to cash out, maybe?

This is exactly where I have problems with most people discussing bitcoin investments here on this forum and other bitcoin discussion platforms. I start getting ideas that practically doesn’t make sense but probably just looks great for them on paper. How do you tell a 90year old person to HODL? That simply ridiculous. For inheritance purposes then it’s definitely a good idea but also follow up with other responsibilities of how the recovery should be done when papa is gone. But let just be realistic when discussing bitcoin investments investing strategies and plan that will help everyone here.

In my opinion…. the number of old folks to show interest in accumulating bitcoin will be very low. Because at that age, I doubt if they have any ambition or see reason to accumulate bitcoin; compared to young folks. Imagine someone that has been working his whole life until 70 yrs; he might not see bitcoin investing as something he needs to pursue at that age, especially with the uncertainty that comes with it and life expectancy. Even if he has no investment on ground before, he may choose to just relax and enjoy the remaining years with his savings.

Even if he has no investment on ground before, he may choose to just relax and enjoy the remaining years with his savings. I do not deny that there may be some people who may want to enjoy their savings at the age of 70. But before assuming that they will be less interested in accumulating Bitcoin, perhaps they should have considered how much and what the savings will be used for. Not wanting to invest new and not having a reasonable reason to invest are not the same thing. There may also be people who are interested in starting investing at the age of 70 for their next generation. I can talk about two types of situations. First, one may have already built up wealth and is now using it. Second, they are starting to invest at this age. In this case, even if they are the same age, their decisions will not be the same. Again, investing in Bitcoin for the first time does not mean starting the journey of building all kinds of wealth from scratch. I will give two examples of people, the first of whom may have all his necessary expenses covered from his savings. He may not be able to wait long to put that money into Bitcoin. Another person may have some discretionary income after meeting their essential expenses with their regular income, which they may not need in the long run. They may consider investing a limited portion of that money if they wish. In this case, even though they are of the same age, their dependence on money is different. It is not that the second person has to invest too. If they do not want to take risks, they may prefer to use savings. However, instead of assuming that the decision is not ambitious due to age, it is more useful to look at how much money will be needed when and how it will affect their lifestyle if prices fall.

The very amount of money that an older person may need to withdraw is an important part of this discussion, most people who are 70 and above years do have money that they won’t be needing for several years. While again they will be someone at same age who depends on their savings for their daily expenses. So when it come to investing in bitcoin age only can’t determine if it makes sense. The most important thing and what really matters is weather if in case of price drop, if they can handle it without affecting their expenses and also if their investment timeline suite their needs.

You think that age and/or health is not a factor in regards to how guys choose to invest?
I didn't mean that in fact i agree with you that age and health affect our financial decision but i was asking the guy who said for older people investment in bitcoin through discretionary income is not a good choice i believe that age is just a number if we look at warren buffet when he is in his 80s he still doing investments so that is what i mean that we do not have to encourage people who are older because if someone is young and he is doing investment does not mean that he will die only when he get old people will die at a young age too .

There’s actually nothing wrong with the opinion you’re kicking against, so long as anyone can figure out their discretionary income then they can invest in bitcoin, they don’t have to compulsorily have a stable source of income before they can start investing.
Maybe you’re saying it’s not for everyone because there are folks who can’t afford to because they don’t have discretionary. But I’ll have you know that as soon as their discretionary is available then they can invest. So it’s basically open to everyone. You don’t need a job before you can buy bitcoin
For the sake of keeping the records straight, Bitcoin is for everyone because anyone can invest in Bitcoin irrespective of their gender, age, culture, religion and geographical location. But to invest in Bitcoin and be able to preserve the investment, certain things need to be put in place. This is where the idea of discretionary income comes into question because it is the only funds that an investor can out in Bitcoin without being perturbed. I wouldn't want us to go with the wrong idea that some Bitcoin is not meant for some people, even those without discretionary income today can have one tomorrow and be able to buy Bitcoin, which means Bitcoin is meant for them but time and situation is the factor. I may not likely agreed with you that everyone, irrespective of age, can invest in Bitcoin. If someone is already very old, I would not advise such a person to invest in Bitcoin. Just imagine someone who is over 90 years old. How active will such a person be in managing their Bitcoin investment? And how long will they be able to hold their Bitcoin to enjoy the benefits of their investment? If someone is already very old, I think it would be better for them to use the money they have to take care of themselves and continue to enjoy their life. I believe that is the best approach. As for your other points, I think and agree that Bitcoin does not discriminate based on religion, gender. As long as people have discretionary income, they can invest in Bitcoin. Just as people age differently, even an 80 years old person man or woman can be so old that they don't even have clear sight, lack steady or healthy speech/talk, can't walk well and other unhealthy conditions that they shouldn't be bordered with much business or investment even when they're CEOs talk more starting afresh. Beautiful if it's that they already have been investing in Bitcoin before the unhealthy condition, when that's the case then they can just continue to hold and that's if there is resources for their wellbeing, if not the thing is to sell their Bitcoin to help them live healthier not for people around to worry them or them worrying themselves about accumulation of Bitcoin. Healthy living should be their greatest goal not money making.
