I know that Bitcoin investment is done with an amount one can afford, so I think anyone can invest cause as low as $1 can go and as time goes by one discretionary can increase, I think starting first is the main thing.
This your suggestion is very funny because you do not know that it is time wasting, I would rather suggest that you use that energy to look for an additional source of discretionary income, because that would be by far more reasonable and helpful than investing as low as $1 weekly or monthly.
If I may ask, when you invest one dollar weekly, which I believe is your discretionary income left, how will you be able to put down your emergency and reserve funds in place when their is nothing left?

At least $10 weekly is fair, not as low as a dollar when you knows that most exchange will not allow you to buy only a dollar worth of Bitcoin.

So to avoid complications it is wise to split our discretionary income into 4 parts, emergency funds, reserve funds, and discretionary spending while the leftover can be use to make our normal routine buying of bitcoin.
Your discretionary income should be split into three equal size which is the first 1/3 for your regular DCA overtime, the second 1/3 to build your emergency funds and the last 1/3 for your discretionary consumption. You don't need to split it into four parts because you will only give very little portion to your bitcoin investment and give the highest portion to your backup funds and from how you did the splitting, you put your bitcoin investment portion last which is wrong.

You don't remove money for emergency funds, reserve funds and discretionary consumption first before you put the leftover into bitcoin. What if there is no leftover or it's not up to $5. Secondly, it's not good to hold too much of cash that depreciate in value overtime which is why as a brand new investor, there is need to strike a balance between your bitcoin investment and your emergency funds in the beginning.
It may be logical to divide discretionary income into three parts, but there is no mandatory requirement that it be divided equally. I will decide what percentage of my discretionary income I will give to Bitcoin and how much to an emergency fund based on my current financial situation. I will not make a decision based on the ratio you give me. Even if the ratio is realistic for me, it may not be realistic for someone else.

Someone may already have an emergency fund equal to a few months of expenses and may have a stable income. If they want, they can allocate a relatively large amount of money to collecting Bitcoin now. But if you do not yet have an emergency fund and your income is irregular, it may be reasonable to temporarily focus on building an emergency fund. Setting the same ratio for both now will ignore their real financial differences.

Sometimes it's not just about poor orientation or any of them being misled, but it may be that the newbie investor is doing what I call ITK, which is "I too know" when they knows nothing. Such types of people believe that common sense can help them figure out everything the right way all the time, without knowing that they are just trying to fuck themselves up by applying common sense on everything.

An inform investor knows that Bitcoin accumulation and putting down your backup funds in place is done simultaneously, not by pay more attention to one and neglecting the other.
So are you saying that common sense does not work, even though I agree with you point that both Bitcoin stacking and building a back up funds done at a go, I still think that common sense can apply here as long as it works, I was not expecting anyone to criticize common sense when it comes to anything especially in Bitcoin investment, I'm very sure that you understand why almost everyone here kick against creating an emergency funds before starting Bitcoin investment journey proper, it is not that it is bad, but the reason is that, the energy that will be channeled in having your emergency funds first can as well be channelled to doing the two concurrently which is using one stone to kill two birds, instead of preparing to safeguard what you don't have.

I feel you can't just take away common sense when it comes to Bitcoin investment or investment in general.
Reason because everybody didn’t really know everything about Bitcoin before they started investing, including I myself, with the little knowledge I had then plus common sense, I was able to divide my finance into different segments and then invest into Bitcoin, rightly.
And also even without a pro Bit coiner telling a beginner, common sense will let him know that he shouldn't start building emergency funds first before he/she start investing in bitcoin. That he/she can literally build both emergency funds along with his/her Bitcoin investment.

Don’t discourage him, if at the end of the day what he have left as discretionary income is as low as $1 and he feels he want to invest with it, then it very okay, it far better that using such discretionary income for something else, like gambling or other unnecessary lifestyle. The only thing you should have said to him is, as he is investing with that low discretionary income, he should try to get more discretionary income.

And as for the emergency funds and reserve funds, you can start your investment without having emergency funds available, don’t let not having emergency funds ready delay your investment, it is very bad. Bitcoin investment is not meant to be delayed for any reason. So invest even when you don’t have discretionary income available, but make sure you make provision for it as soon as possible.

If you have already made provisions for emergency funds, and reserve funds, you don’t need to make any provision for discretionary spending funds. That is the purpose of having reserve funds. The reserve funds is where you can take money and spend on things you want to take care of that are not emergency. Just having Emergency funds and reserve funds is enough. The rest is to be used to purchase bitcoin. The one you are calling discretionary spending funds is not necessary. Add it to the portion you reserved for buying bitcoin, to give you more purchasing power when accumulating bitcoin.

Moreover is better to start small and stark up his portfolio than hoping to get more funds before starting when he could gradually build up with the little he had and increase the amount he's putting in the portfolio on the long run. That's one good thing about Bitcoin investment, even who have afford much are still opportuned to own it in bits.

Yeah people who don’t have actually have the emergency funds before shouldn’t be discouraged or delay the investment cause it can go together with the investment, delay is dangerous cause Bitcoin is unpredictable and while waiting it could fluctuate upwards which makes the person miss the opportunity of buying cheaper.

Basic knowledge cannot be omitted in Bitcoin investment or any other investment, in fact basic knowledge is the key to becoming smart or experienced in Bitcoin investment, it helps to understand investment mistakes, that alone should be understood by us. That's right, even if no professional investor says so, basic knowledge about investing will convince the novice investor that it is not necessary to build an emergency fund before starting to invest and the first thing that is needed is to find out the discretionary income which I learned from JJG's analysis.

It is possible to start investing in Bitcoin even if there is no emergency fund and even if there is no source of income one can start collecting Bitcoin in some alternative ways so it should be understood at this stage that one should not delay in buying Bitcoin.

Basic knowledge cannot be overlooked because, when it comes to holding the knowledge that you need, it is just the basics because you don't need to do too much then, after the basics, you have to understand that you need to buy more through the process of doing DCA or even more. When it comes to investing, you have to apply wisdom because, after the first buy, the next thing should be how you want to buy more, because that is what most holders do, and that is why they will tell you to have everything planned out, like even having emergency funds. Because investing is just not about the first buy it is more than that.

For those who are really disciplined, they can actually do without emergency funds, at least they know how their funds will be corrected. The other way round, I feel like everything still depends on themself, but even then I still suggest you have an emergency fund.

It is very unwise to invest in bitcoin without setting up an emergency funds because no matter how discipline you think you are, you may sell your holdings prematurely when emergency comes.

The only set of people that can afford to invest in bitcoin without having an emergency funds are the rich, because they have asset they can sell to take care of an emergency that threatens their holdings, and not just that, they have rich friends, uncles, aunties and business associate that can bail them out in times like that, but if you don't have that kind of leverage, then it is an unwise decision to invest in bitcoin without having it, because you are going to sell your investment when emergency comes.

. It can be a good idea to start buying Bitcoins while saving up for an emergency fund. But it may not be advisable for those who are living from paycheck to paycheck.
Or don't you know that the most important thing all Bitcoin investor needs is a source of discretionary income? because once you can sort out your discretionary income from your source, splitting it into three is the best way forward, because you will invest with one part, put down your emergency and reserve funds with one part, and uses one part for discretionary consumption, that way you can invest consistently and your investment will be safe, as long as you have a source of discretionary income which i believe that earning from pay check to pay check is part of it.
You need to separate two things here. First, having a regular salary is one thing, and second, having discretionary income after meeting your essential expenses is another. Even if a person receives a regular salary, their entire salary may be used to pay for rent, food, transportation, household expenses, and debt. Again, someone else may receive a monthly salary and have a significant surplus because their essential expenses are low. To put it more simply, having a salary and having discretionary income are not the same thing. Discretionary income can also come from a salary if there is something left over from that salary after meeting all your expenses.

You may receive a regular salary of $1,500 on a monthly basis. But after meeting all your essential expenses such as rent, food, household needs, transportation, and other essential expenses, you have nothing left over. In that case, just because you have a regular salary, it is not possible to divide that money into three parts and buy Bitcoin, running an emergency fund, and covering personal expenses.

All you have explained as basic knowledge can just be described as common sense, that is what an insvestor need to get started. It
is common sense that will tell the investor that bitcoin is an asset worthy of investment and with that conviction comes the desire, passion and every other thing that makes the investment a reality. Having knowledge of bitcoin is good but knowledge is not all you need which us why you don't have the most educated people as he highest holders of bitcoin.

Most beginners do not even know that certain things are investment mistakes, they learn on the process and begin to do things right after they have already made some of their early purchases. So understanding investmemt mistakes does not belong to basic knowledge but more advanced knowledge of bitcoin and how to properly invest in it.

One of the most difficult things to overcome when problems arise in Bitcoin investment is that an emergency fund is an essential part of Bitcoin investment. However, many people underestimate this fund only realizing it's essential when a problem arises. It's crucial to prepare for any challenging situation while building a Bitcoin investment.

I completely agree with your statement that investing in Bitcoin isn't just about discipline. If we're prepared for one thing, our discipline won't be able to keep up with the current situation. This is why an emergency fund is so useful for those building an investment portfolio.

Your statement is clear, as wealthy individuals are financially capable and one of their advantages is having a different source of income than those who are poor. They always find it easy in all matters related to investment so for them, it's a convenience they have. We admire those with financial stability who continue to invest perhaps because they believe they can afford it now and won't suffer losses in the future if they no longer have the financial resources they currently have.

The question is why they want to invest. The answer is because they don't want to experience future losses, so one way they consider seeking security is by investing in Bitcoin. Bitcoin investment is currently a fairly good investment method and can save a large amount of money, which they can use as an asset for the future. They only need to hold cash to cover their daily needs with their families, and the rest of their income is allocated to purchasing Bitcoin as savings for their future.

I don't know the kind of orientation some people get that will make them want to build emergency funds before starting investing in Bitcoin, I am not disputing that emergency funds is not good no but rather I am  just trying to let some folks  know with this mentality that it is not the best or right thing to do because your priority as an investor especially as no coiner is to start growing or purchasing Bitcoin first and then grow your emergency funds along side.

I’m still trying to figure out where you stand @Futurexxx, are you against the use of common sense in bitcoin investment or what ?, because that’s what your write up seems like to me.
Or is that you’re confusing overconfidence with using common sense? Cos there’s a big difference between a person assuming that they know everything and someone applying ordinary reasoning to make sensible financial decisions, this should be obvious to you already but i wonder why it’s not.

Don’t you know that having common sense and basic financial reasoning are actually part of what makes someone a responsible investor in the first place?, you don’t need to be a financial expert to know that you must have a source of income that is more than your expenses so as to be able to have a surplus from it to invest with, it’s common sense, same way you don’t have to be told that you must not invest with money meant for your basic expenses, it’s not rocket science, it’s just common sense.

Ironically even your argument about accumulating Bitcoin while building backup funds simultaneously still requires the same use of common sense that you’re seemingly dismissing, so what you on about buddy?

A person may or may not have basic financial reasoning when he gets started buying bitcoin, yet hopefully, his common sense would help him to arrive at the conclusion to invest less into bitcoin  if there might be basic areas that the person is lacking in knowledge, skills and/or experiences.

[edited out]
Many people (investors) usually forget to cut some shares for their discretionary spending while splitting their discretionary income, some might want to use Their reserve funds when they need money to buy anything. And I don't think if there's anything wrong with that rather, it will make our reserve funds not to grow bigger of which our reserve funds is meant to be in a position where it will be enough for us to buy as aggressive as we like during the dip, especially if there's no enough discretionary funds at the time. So to avoid complications it is wise to split our discretionary income into 4 parts, emergency funds, reserve funds, and discretionary spending while the leftover can be use to make our normal routine buying of bitcoin.

emergency funds and reserve funds are both part of back up funds, so there is no need to create separate categories for them.

When you are holding back money to buy the dip, then that is part of reserve funds, and sure I don't recommend changing levels of aggressiveness based on bitcoin prices, yet of course, guys can do whatever they like.

Guys can split their discretion into whatever proportions that they want.

Many guys use 1/3 in each as an easy reference point, even though in the end, each person has to decide his proportions in each of the categories of 1) invest, 2) save and/or 3) discretionarily consume.

Common sense tells what is right to do and what isn't right to do but to invest in bitcoin what is needed is your discretionary funds and common sense and nothing more than this. Instead creating an emergency funds will hold us not to start investing asap we can start if our discretionary funds is ready and later create an emergency funds along with buying bitcoin, but in a situation where an investor already have their emergency funds at first it's also a win win for such an investor because at end of it all an investor still need an emergency funds to keep their bitcoin investment safe and it will also strengthen them to hold their bitcoin for a long time, while we shouldn't be waiting to start if our discretionary funds is ready but no emergency funds yet.
Procrastinating is the reason some people haven't yet invested in bitcoin, they Keep on postponing  investing in bitcoin when they can get started with just their discretionary income. Because you don't have an emergency fund doesn't mean you cannot invest in bitcoin as both your emergency fund and investment can be build up the same time. People should stop using lack of emergency fund as an excuse to delay their investment. Such an excuse is baseless since they can build both their emergency fund and bitcoin investment simultaneously by splitting their discretionary income in half. One half can be used for investing while the other half can be use for building their emergency fund.

Oh?  You only use your discretionary income for investing and savings?  Nothing else?

[edited out]
Basic knowledge cannot be omitted in Bitcoin investment or any other investment, in fact basic knowledge is the key to becoming smart or experienced in Bitcoin investment, it helps to understand investment mistakes, that alone should be understood by us. That's right, even if no professional investor says so, basic knowledge about investing will convince the novice investor that it is not necessary to build an emergency fund before starting to invest and the first thing that is needed is to find out the discretionary income which I learned from JJG's analysis.

I never assert that guys need basic knowledge before investing in bitcoin.   I  repeatedly assert that guys need discretionary funds and common sense to invest in bitcoin.

Common sense is not the same as basic knowledge since common sense does not presume any particular knowledge except that maybe the person will take into account their circumstances and exercise good judgement about what he might know or need to know and how much he should invest, if anything.

It is possible to start investing in Bitcoin even if there is no emergency fund and even if there is no source of income one can start collecting Bitcoin in some alternative ways so it should be understood at this stage that one should not delay in buying Bitcoin.

You have to have discretionary income to start buying bitcoin, so if a guy starts buying bitcoin and he has absolutely no back up funds, then he is going to consider if that makes sense, since he might be investing beyond his discretionary funds since he has to have enough money to cover his basic expenses until the next time he gets paid.

Basic knowledge cannot be overlooked because, when it comes to holding the knowledge that you need, it is just the basics because you don't need to do too much then, after the basics, you have to understand that you need to buy more through the process of doing DCA or even more.

What is the basic knowledge that you need beyond determining whether you have discretionary funds?

When it comes to investing, you have to apply wisdom because, after the first buy, the next thing should be how you want to buy more, because that is what most holders do, and that is why they will tell you to have everything planned out, like even having emergency funds. Because investing is just not about the first buy it is more than that.

Each time you buy you have to make sure that you have discretionary funds.

So if a person knows that he has $100 in discretionary funds every week, then he can plan to buy a certain amount of bitcoin every week that is less than $100.

However, if the guy does not know his discretionary funds or when he is going to get paid next, then he might determine that he cannot buy bitcoin because he feels that he does not have enough certainty in his discretionary funds.

It is possible to start investing in Bitcoin even if there is no emergency fund and even if there is no source of income one can start collecting Bitcoin in some alternative ways so it should be understood at this stage that one should not delay in buying Bitcoin.
For those who are really disciplined, they can actually do without emergency funds, at least they know how their funds will be corrected.

NO you cannot not have any emergency funds (or back up funds), since if you do not have back up funds, then you cannot know whether you are spending beyond your discretionary funds.

Maybe you can explain how a guy is going to invest in bitcoin without any back up funds.

Go ahead.  Try to not make your explanation too stupid.  In other words, try to make your explanation make sense.  Go ahead.  Explain. How does a guy buy bitcoin without back up funds and still assure that he is not spending beyond his discretionary funds?  Or are you presuming that guys can use non-discretionary funds to buy bitcoin?  Are you in the correct thread?

The other way round, I feel like everything still depends on themself, but even then I still suggest you have an emergency fund.

You sound retarded.  First you say that a bitcoin investor (presumptively bitcoin newbie) does not need emergency funds, and then you say that even though a bitcoin newbie does not need emergency funds, you still recommend that he he has emergency funds.  How does what you are saying make any sense?

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Yes, you are right. Investment planning always prioritizes personal financial situation. You have to determine the proportion of funds based on your financial situation. Even by determining the financial situation, do you have the ability to invest? Or is investment harmful to you?
Due to the deterioration of the financial situation, we sometimes have to decide to suspend investment.

Considering the financial situation, our discretionary income may also change regularly. In some months, daily expenses may be more or in some months, expenses may be less. Even due to inflation, discretionary income may change. Due to this change, we have to change the proportion of funds at some time. Even understanding the investment situation, the percentage of fund allocation may change. Sometimes investment funds may get more priority, sometimes backup funds may get more priority or sometimes ancillary expenses funds may also get more priority. It depends on the financial situation and personal situation of the person.

Basic are important to long term Bitcoin investment. These basic will entice you to lay the groundwork and continue to deposit Bitcoin regularly. Building an emergency fund and cash flow are essential elements of Bitcoin holdings that will not negatively impact your investment if you don’t have them in place at the beginning.
You don’t have to be prudent at the beginning, you just need discretionary income. It’s not that you can’t reach a good investment level with your first buying but you should emphasize DCA regularly to get to a decent level.

Some folk want to test the suitability of Bitcoin investing like other investments but I see this importance in a broader sense because the longer you can accumulate Bitcoin in the DCA method and increase the amount of DCA as your salary increases, the more you can reach a decent holding level.

What the hell are you saying, do you control emergency situations or does your discipline have a way of making emergencies disappear?. This is insane even for you!
Being disciplined help you stick to your strategies and plans, helps you control your finances and make better decisions but has absolutely nothing to do with you losing your job or falling sick or accidents etc.

I don’t think it’s discouragement, I understand it’s important to get started and even starting small is good but $1 is below starting small. I think that if you don’t have enough discretionary income, you shouldn’t be investing rather find ways to improve your discretionary income first.
When you have just one dollar as discretionary income and you invest it in bitcoin, is it really investing or gambling?

This is actually terrible, because their is no amount of discipline that will make you not to sell off or temper with your Bitcoin holdings when emergencies comes, that is why putting it in place is the best way to protect your bitcoin investment.

And I want you to have it at the back of your mind that not making provision for it while investing is like planning for your investment to fail, because emergency situation will surely comes on your investment journey, and since the need to addresses that emergency will be by far greater than holding unto your investment when the time comes, you cannot hold unto your investment if you don't have it in place.
