That's only for you to decide. Understand that you can't possibly know the agendas of all the market participants at any given point in time. What you can do is to analyze the assets you are trying to buy  from a fundamental and/or a technical point of view. Even if you have done your diligence you still are prone to witness black swan events or a sudden change of mind by a multi-billionaire or hedge fund manager.

The fact that the markket are currently on red , heavily dropped and a sure bearish for the last couple of weeks since new year.

you are good to go to start buying on discounted price , but still yeah remember that it could went worse that what you think , expect the unexpected.
as the price in really volatile phase , prepare for the worst case and manage the portofolio with a thoroughly math.
once you have done it all , you might find the real dip benefits you a lot at the end of the day.

With the current market conditions that are down and the movements are very volatile, of course we have to be really careful in making a decision,

If you want to buy it wait for it a bit stable first, I'm afraid the market will go down continuously. It is not unusual that in this forum, which is called Bitcointalk for a reason, we prefer Bitcoin to Ethereum. If you get to ask in the alts section, you would surely have more answers preferring Eth. What I would recommend is that you acquire information on both and make an informed decision as to why you prefer one over the other. It is better than buying one because you simply think it will go higher or you have been told in a forum.

Have you thought about adding more to your initial investment? Many of us on the forum do DCA. You can invest a lump sum at the start but then add x money weekly or monthly. That way you cushion the ups and downs in price.

Actually this is the good times to buy any cryptocurrencies, because the down fall's of bitcoin may not increase anytime doon, but some people online via social media keep on portraying that bitcoin will fall again until it gets to twenty thousand or ten thousand (20K or 10k) so i support that motion of buying Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies that is equal to the task of investment, not really focused on bitcoin and ethereum, other potential coins are there to discover.

Considering both crypto coins have really dipped so much i think buying both in even proportions should be a great odea as this doesnt just reduce your risk exposure but also allows you to diversify your crypto portfolio. So buy the dip in 50-50 proportions.

Definitely yes, today is like a sale going on btc and eth infact all the Cryptos today are on sale and looking at the daily RSI it's too oversold, if you are looking to buy for a longer term also then it's a great area for a dollar cost average entry. But yes it's true that there is a good chance that year might be the bearish year for btc and we might not see a lot of bullishness in the market this year.

I guess if that's the case, then there will be a long span of time buying moment for all the coins that we wish to invest particularly with bitcoin.  Although we cannot hold its assurance, but weak hands will certainly collapse if that will happen, while strong hands will keep on utilizing the opportunity to fill their bags with top coins. As long as there is dips happening in the market, that will always be a good time to buy bitcoin and ethereum.

Yes for sure, it might be a very long accumulation season before the next blast, but I am sure this point can be one good point for dollar cost averaging your position, even if btc falls from here you can buy more later but if btc flies from here there are fancy chances that you won't get a chance to buy again at price this cheap anytime soon.

To be honest even 50-50 looks pretty high to me, just buying 1/3rd or 1/4th of your portfolio would make any sense here.

You may not find the dip, but you can find "some dip". Like when it goes from 68k at the top to 40k, and buy buy at 40k, that is still fine, and yes it dropped even further down but you still got it at 40k. By mathematics, if you bought at 68k and then same amount at 40k, you will have an average of 54k, so suddenly you turned your 68k entry to 54k. If you put that much more to 40k again, suddenly you are at 47k.

I would not say that it is a long way out. So, you managed to turn your 68k entry to 47k with just 2 moves if you enter at 40k and that is not even the bottom, even if you didn't found the bottom you still did fine. Which is what I am looking for right now and I am quite happy and I would be willing to buy anywhere around these prices. It is just a smart way of investing when you do DCA on bitcoin and most other major coins that rank high.

It's okay if you don't buy it right now and if you think that it's not yet cheap. But it's always been possible to buy bitcoin or ethereum. The moment depends on how you look to the market and if bitcoin is affordable to you, start buying it.
If your choice is ethereum, that's just the same if you think it's also cheaper. But if you want to wait, that's your decision and view to the market and we're all entitled to it.

It’s not bad if he decides not to buy now, moreover now might not even be the right time to start buying. For long now a lot of people has been saying that we should start buying immediately, because they believe that the market has reached its lowest, but the price of Bitcoin has still gone from over $40,000 and now it is at $35,000 as I write this. So, you just never know the right time, and we don’t even know if the price will still go down again, because I’ve been seeing some predictions that the market would still drop to $20,000.

So, if it’s going to drop that low, now might not be the perfect time to buy, though it will still make sense if you have plans to hold it for a long term till another bull run takes place. I know that some people who are buying now have plans of holding it for like four to five years which would be the next halving, and likely another bull run.

There's no timer frame on buying coins and if OP has enough money to invest both Bitcoin and Ethereum are much better because they have the potential to make a profit.  My advice is, invest only in what you can afford because we don't know how long it will become the price goes up again.

From what i read price can be dumped more, i think split capital which is previously will we use to buy into 3 parts. Because when price keep down after we bought it, at least we still have money to buy more, and the rest if price really move very much and we can buy more with it. I think it is safer to do than decide 1 price and buy it all with capital that we have because no one can predict where actually bitcoin price will go.

I don't care about many people talk about bitcoin drop until $20,000 and I think this the way how to make many investors panic selling their assets with lower price. How many time when bitcoin dump but always strong recovery and back to higher price, did you remember last moment when China make fud and bitcoin drop under $30,000 but few weeks later bitcoin can come back stronger and reach almost $60,000. Everything have way for some people try to make fud and investor not really understand how they can play price and people panic for selling with lower price, keep hold and waiting I sure bitcoin back to higher price again.

Think about this guy's words, because for me this is a good reason - to distance myself from ETH.

Staking is already happening but staked ETH2s are currently locked up in validators and can't be moved. A hard fork later this year (although given how slow Ethereum development is, it might be sometime in 2024) will allow those coins to be moved. Staking started in late 2020 when ETH was like $500, there's a good chance that substantial profit-taking will happen once withdrawals from validators are allowed. Unless it goes back below $500 by then.

I will not call Bitcoin digital gold, but when choosing between two evils, it is worth choosing the lesser.
