Do you own 1 Bitcoin? (2022 edition)

Even though I have it in the amount of 1 Bitcoin in its entirety, it feels much better to keep it a secret. It's not that I don't want to vote, because the results don't show who the real owner is. Need to show Bitcoin balance? that would also be very unkind. To be honest, people will be much more secretive about Bitcoin holdings. Showing it off just for compliments?

The 1 Bitcoin was and still is for many a goal, I would hazard a guess that it is mostly
unachievable for the majority at this stage.

In my mind its an even more intriguing question today than 5 years ago but asking the
question doesnt achieve much. Anyone could own 1 by buying it when it was valued at
$50, others could have got it for free for example so there are more questions which are
interesting...

And what does it mean to be anonymous if you have to be open and show the number of holdings and I don't think the Vote vote is completely true or dishonest, and I can also vote Yes with mangaku having 1 bitcoin which is actually just a lie and vice versa.
I'm sure everyone here prefers to keep it a secret and would say being dishonest with holdings because what's the point what else in large amounts will only create fear of being hacked because 1 bitcoin is big enough and anything can happen.

I recently just started in this forum way back in 2017 and from there, all of my BTCs came from the proceeds of dozens of campaign signatures I have participated therein. So far from my BTC wallet address, I have accumulated around ~$30,000 worth of BTCs from participating in five (5) years in this forum. Though the price mostly depends on the value of BTC, roughly I have earned that much.

Unfortunately, majority of that $30,000 came from the value of BTC back in the years 2018-2019 when 1 BTC was equivalent to only around $4,000-$6,000 so the payouts in campaign signatures were relatively high. I also used most of it during that time as it gave me an opportunity to purchase books for my self-served education.

my assets are divided into several altcoins, but even put together, for now they are not worth 1 bitcoin. right now, 1 bitcoin seems like a lot. maybe a few years ago, I might still have 1 bitcoin or maybe more. however, due to some business needs and development, I used it. As of now, I don't have 1 bitcoin in my internet assets, but still trying to collect it.

Voted. It looks like there will be more No than Yes this time as the price of Bitcoin really pumps in the couple of years and I am sure that people have now lesser BTC than others. If I just saved all the BTC I have before, I have more than 3 BTC now.

I am not that smart. Knew about BTC back in may 2011!mined it back in 2012 and got free btc via bitcoin faucet and tried to buy it but could not as i had a govt bank visa electron. I remember the dwolla days but where i live i could not access it. HDD crashed and i forgot about it. Got in seriously this year!Saved the exe file on disc but did not save the wallet.dat file. At that time the blockchain size was 600mb.

The main problem with this kind of pool is that it is not representative.

We will have a few dozens of votes, at most. Which represents nothing about bitcoin talk users. It is just a collection of random user's financial information.

It's in hundreds, not dozens (the 5-year-old poll is), but still, it's indeed not representative of the community and might be a very biased result (for example, perhaps those who do have 1 BTC are in the minority, but are more eager to vote in the poll than those who don't). So it's not possible to assess such things when it was an anonymous poll in one thread. As for discussions, I think it's natural that many who do own 1 BTC would not share this information to avoid the risk of being targeted. Such matters are sensitive, and evaluating them properly is done best by professionals (sociologists).

Is it though? I mean, at current value that's what you'd expect to earn from a yearly salary right? Obviously, not on minimum wage, but I believe the average wage is just below that. I don't know exactly in the US, and what the US dollar equivalent is, but I do believe the UK is around 24k, which would be around about the price it's at now.

So theoretically, those that can offer their services for Bitcoin, just as they do with fiat could earn similar amounts. I don't think it's unachievable at the moment. If we see the price increase to upwards of $100k, that's when a lot of people will be priced out, well of owning one BItcoin anyway. Not that it's important, just interested why you'd think something which could be achieved in a year by many, would be unachievable. Even earning half of that, it would take two years. Obviously, the fluctuating costs of Bitcoin might go against you, but I imagine we'll be at a rather low point for a while.

If you knew about bitcoin back in 2011 then there was no need for you to buy BTC at all.
You could have accumulated a lot of coins just by mining BTC from your CPU.
But then again, we never knew BTC we come such a long way. So it's not your fault completely.
It's good that you have joined the bandwagon now and you still have the time to buy BTC.

There is a big difference between the past and the present. During those days people who have owned a bitcoin is higher than the people without a Bitcoin. Went through the thread and I was quite astonished to see the beginning posts in which a person have mentioned to buy bitcoin, if they haven't taking in mind the upcoming year 2017 which is going to be big. Same as that during the month of December 2016 the price was around $800-$900 and in December 2017 it crossed $17500.

I think a lot of people sold some of their bitcoins when the price hit the all time high of $60 000+     The thing is, most people will not vote correctly, because they might be apprehensive that the voting might be compromised... or you get some people that just want to sabotage a voting poll, to be funny or malicious. 

In any way.... I like to hoard ..but I also believe in spending some of the bitcoins that I accumulated over time, because we have to support the merchants that supports Bitcoin payment.

Bitcoin is no longer the same position where any one can buy a pizza with 10,000 bitcoins. There is probably no more miserable person in the world. Today, a bitcoin is worth of $30,000. Not everyone can afford it but try to get the chance.

That hope will always be there for every user who certainly has bitcoin. Something that is very likely to happen in the near future, I believe in that. Maybe today we witnessed a very deep decline in the market, some coins also feel the same way. But that's not a problem as long as we invest with long expectations.

but in fact for now, many people like to show off their assets to others like they buy a new car they will post on social media or other because they want to be seen as successful people and like praise from others.

And I think this is one of the goals for many of us, I mean we wanted to be part of those 1 Bitcoin club. But with the prices still very high at $30k, average joe might not even own it in their life unless they really put a lot of effort on reaching this 'dream'. But I would say that I'm still that far,
