I rarely meet investors at an already respectful age - more than 45. I think that people at this age either no longer think about such investments, or I just don’t know such investments.
You probably just haven't met one. But in real life, I've met usually from 20-40 and a few from 45 and above when I've attended those gatherings that are related to cryptocurrencies. At that age, they should be more into investments and mostly, they're still a working class that has a lot of it expanded and scattered in many investments which includes bitcoin.

In my experience the age group form 20-40 is also way more in the mood to show off and talk about their investments, since many of them are actively investing or searching for something to invest in that moment. If you are 45 or older you have already chosen on what to invest and only put in a percentage of your income in that asset. For many people this is not as exiting anymore and just party of daily business, so they are not really talking that much about it anymore.

at the age of more than 45, I think many of them seem to want to develop assets that they already have. by choosing cryptocurrencies and they use cold money, most of them are more prepared to deal with crypto volatility than people aged 20-30 years. I think psychology is the main obstacle for young people, because they are developing assets, and not infrequently they use money from anywhere to multiply their assets.
Most likely, they've got tons of cash that they can invest or they're cash broke but with hefty investments. For the younger ones, it's all about fear. They want to be assured of something that they want to invest but honestly, they're the best shape to take risks because they can just take it again with higher chance of success unlike the older ones.

Based on stats, that's much likely it is but still can't ignore the fact that many of the older ones are still unsure of which path to go because not all of them are open for investments.

I agree that Gen Z is being seen as a major force in this market, but they are not targeting bitcoin but altcoins and shitcoins instead.
Could be that this forum is a little bit to oldschool for Gen Z people, since here everything is more regulated and also the layout is more 2000-2010 Grin . But I don't find this necessarily a bad thing, since this forum has also a lot of influence in the development of bitcoin and a serous talk about that would be way harder on a forum like reddit where everything is more of a mess.
"little bit too old school" is a very gentle way to put it Grin I'm used to visit it so it's not a big deal but other people used to new forums of course wouldn't like this layout/graphic.

Anyway talking about Gen Z "investments" probably it's also because they follow a lot of shitty influencers on TikTok who make a lot of money out of these naive people, that's why they prefer to buy Shiba instead of BTC.

I did not think that there would be such a small number of people between the ages of 18-22. This result actually surprised me. Actually, when I think about it, most of the bitcoin interested people you meet on the forum or social life were over 40 years old. I see that people with more life experience are more knowledgeable and profitable about bitcoin. People of that age are usually more courageous than the younger ones. And unfortunately, the people who hold the most bitcoins are not young people.

In regards to those threads about age: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5396058.0 and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1529447.0;viewResults I wondered how this changed over time and if the assumptions are correct.
I want to point out that as far as I know nobody (including me) is able to see for what option you have voted if you are concerned about your data.
On this second link, the thread was posted on the year of 2016 so 6 years have passed already. I think changes are already noticeable on that span of time. Not only the age that were added to those bitcoin users but also the wisdom and experience. They are now more confident and they can now decide properly if what to do on different situations.

It's not a big deal if someone can see the results on the poll because it was just an age anyway. This is something that we must be proud of. It is a not a kyc that is very important and should be hidden, but on the result, I can see that most users here are now 40 plus. That's interesting, I thought most users here are still young like 30's and below.

To be honest, the data and survey results doesn't really surprised me as each bracket of age has it's own reason as to why the amount or percentage of crypto/bitcoin holders are that amount. I mean, on the age bracket of 18-22, there's not many people who are willing to risk their allowance or their salary on cryptocurrency. However if you look on the bracket of 25-40 years old, more people are currently holders with these age as most of them are looking for investments other than stocks, and real states.

I can also not really believe that the average age is that old. Especially since we are here on an Internet forum which will not at the same time represent the overall adoption of bitcoin. One reason I can think of, is that here are many difficult technical topics and it is not easy for many young people to respond to such topics.
Maybe we can get some more people to vote, to have a more detailed statistic!

I think the best age for holding bitcoin will be round about 25 to 34. A young man knows how to deal with bulls and bears.

There is no best age for holding bitcoin. One can invest in bitcoin as soon as he understands the market irrespective of age. Maximum of the bitcoin holders range from age 25 to 35.

I think that those people who learn and use Bitcoin at 18 years old must be in a special circumstance what pushed them to do so. For example, in most of developed countries the youth have no "need" to use Bitcoin beyond speculation, since in those nations the access to banking and financial instruments is widespread, they would likely just settle and use Paypal, for exmaple.

On the other hand, in developing countries there is a real need and demand for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrrencies as a payment method, since the access to US dollars and Euros is rectricted by the state itself, Venezuela and Argentina are good examples of this and the reason exchanges are commonly used to adquire stablecoins and Bitcoin.

I agree bit O wouldn't say these are people addicted to Bitcoin. Age 25-40 are people who probably have steady job or other sources of income to invest and these over 30 and closer to 40 are very likely involved in Bitcoin for longer period of time and therefore quite experienced and so far witnessed all phases that Bitcoin went through. So, to my opinion one who is investing in Bitcoin for longer period of time and it's patient and aware of all risks but also benefits of long term loyalty to Bitcoin is definitely not a teenager.

To be honest, I am not surprised with this considering that NFTs became like a trend around here in my country especially those play to earn games stuffs that I am not really a fan of.
Although that is not Bitcoin, I can see people leaning towards it since it is the dominant crypto of all and you would not fail to see it nor hear it at least once for sure.
Bitcoin has been here for so long, so.... we should expect a lot of "elders".

Thanks for the poll OP! Was expecting more investors to be between 20-30 as has been the case in previous years, or the previous bull/bear market. It's interesting to see from this poll that there are more users between 30-40 these days, even if it's just Bitcoin holders getting older! I think this also shows how Bitcoin itself is maturing, if the age of investors/traders is increasing, it's heading in the right direction.

Interesting to see so few users are under 22, personally I would of expected a lot more.

That's clear, the long term holders and the cryptocurrency users have turned to age above 30 years of age. This makes the age group of 30-40 to be the high volume cryptocurrency holders. The people who came into cryptocurrency for the first time seems to be more into cryptocurrency.

I'm sure the result will be 31-35, 35-40 years of age will get the maximum votes. The same is being recorded in the thread where the voting is done for average age of bitcoiners. This time we can see a good number of youngsters, which means the freshers/beginners with few years of experience in a job. Because during the pandemic these people got into cryptocurrency and now they make a good contribution.
I have to agree with you. These age range are most likely the individuals that who go extra mile and take investments since working alone do not bring big changes in their lives. This was also my age range when i started here, since our mindset is now more open and would likely to get out from our comfort zones and try taking investments. Although there are also beginners that have entered into bitcoining at an early ages, maybe because they have been influenced by some early adopters here, aside from the pandemic that still leaves a huge impact these days.

There are indeed some of younger people who do get engage with bitcoin and example for this one which is 18 years old and already a millionaire.
Erik Finman became a bitcoin millionaire at 18- now he’s thinking about life beyond crypto
https://www.businessofbusiness.com/articles/erik-finman-bitcoin-millionaire-interview/

Honestly, it doesnt really require a specific age for someone to engage on bitcoin or crypto as a whole as long you are aware and knowledgeable and able to take
a good grasp into this market then its somewhat impossible that you wont able to understand and also there's no age restriction or somewhat like this.

I would come in the age group 16-21 in that first poll, and now it's 22-24. I am sure there are a lot more zoomers in the cryptosphere now than before. But they don't use bitcointalk. For them, it's reddit, discord and 4chan.

Unlike before, when most of the neophytes would register on bitcointalk as well. Maybe because due to the hierarchy here based on how old(older=more post &activity=higher rank) your account is. So newbies don't really feel like staying  Huh

I'm sure the result will be 31-35, 35-40 years of age will get the maximum votes.
So far, according to current vote results, most bitcoiner ages are around 30 - 45. It means most bitcoiners are mature people who probably have enough knowledge about digital investment. I'm not surprised with the current result since mature people who probably brave enough to spend their money on holding Bitcoin. While for young people, it seems a bit risky for them, so they are not brave enough.

This time we can see a good number of youngsters, which means the freshers/beginners with few years of experience in a job.
Yep. Since Bitcoin is more popular and having Bitcoin becomes a usual thing, more young people are interested to join Bitcoin investment. It is a good sign that we will have the young generation of bitcoiners.

This could be a problem but it is the same on other platforms where older more known users are more respected. Maybe it is because reddit for example has also a lot of other communities so many people have already an account that has some trust to it. Also it is just that reddit has a very good design that bitcointalk will never be able to archive with standard forum software. I think in the next bullmarket we see many new users. In the end it is about content and thats where you can't compete with bitcointalk. Even if we maybe should advertise bitcointalk a little more on reddit.
