You talk about professionalism in the thread title as if you're building a career in gambling, then go on to say that you should only be doing it casually, so which is it? For some people sometime a guide is really necessary, because they doesn't understand difference between gambling for fun and be addicted. It starts always for fun, with time someone become addicted, someone not.

Op this is a good list that would be adhered to in a utopian society. Having said this, I think it should be "Things to consider" and not "Things to obey". Obedience here doesn't guarantee "success in gambling". The fact is that not everyone has the luxury of gambling for entertainment. For some people is another source of income. So they take it very seriously. I am not referring to those who turn to gambling as a coping mechanism from life's challenges.

I don't think so, both are same in any extent because professional gambling is their main source of income and they have enough funds to back them if they lost too much money but its not the case with an average joe who is betting recklessly and lost everything.
