I haven't seen any thread here so I made one, well I think there are not many who wants to discuss the woman's NBA but it is worth the shot, and I just try to make it simple, and because we don't have any event or games on the NBA yet, I decided to make a thread for the discussion on the WNBA, I know this is already late, and the games are already started, but it is better to be late than never,

Looks like the Biden administration might finally be bringing Brittany Griner home. They’re going to have to trade a convicted arms dealer serving a 25 year sentence for Griner, who once physically assaulted her wife and is now jailed in Russia for being caught with a controlled substance. This will no doubt be celebrated by the WNBA.

I haven't seen any thread here so I made one, well I think there are not many who wants to discuss the woman's NBA but it is worth the shot,
That's probably because nobody or less than 1% of the sports bettors in this forum gamble on their games. WNBA are not generating enough revenue year on year to sustain the operations and the last time I read anything significant about them was that they're able to raise millions early this year for a business model revamp.

As Bill Burr said so eloquently, the WNBA has been failed by women. Women aren’t supporting women’s sports the way men (or women) support men’s sports. This leads to a major difference in revenue and thus salaries for players. If women supported women’s sports more, maybe networks would start making a bigger deal about their games and people might eventually take an interest.

Actually I have been betting in the last couple of days.

But let me tell you something, it's really hard to predict the outcome of the game, lol. So I temporarily stop this 2 days because my record is not that good, (maybe 3 out 10)

So I have stir up, but the game is there, excitement, thrash talking. But the again, NBA is really very different.

Dream vs Lynx - won't even predict, as this is going to be very tough game.

I think Ronda Rousey showed any female sport can blow up in popularity. They only need an athlete who can be a star to bring excitement and attention to the game.

People want to see greatness. On some level, it makes them feel great.

Watching WNBA is more like watching unmotivated employees show up to a 9 to 5 job than it is something likely to garner mainstream attention. There isn't much excitement or urgency people can relate to. Which could be the norm as far as woman's sports go.

Even female boxing lacked good paydays until the Paul brothers began promoting Amanda Serrano. Before that happened, female boxers like Claressa Shields were transitioning to MMA due to the pay being better.

agreed, it still baffles me how some people are so eager to blame men for not being interested in women's category in sports. also, the funny thing is top athletes like Ronda Rousey knows what needs to be done in order to become high-paying athlete. if they want to be recognized by people they need to level up their game.

Possibly. She went to Hollywood for a show and then Wrestling matches to gain popularity. Her agent might be good to keep track on what they will do next to up her market.
I watch WNBA just to be updated with stars but not with the whole roster unlike the NBA.
They badly need something that will pump their market up. It's been too long already and I still don't see any change. The worst thing is girls today which should've been supportive to them might be doing something else due to the pandemic (i.e. phones and computers) instead of liking the sport.

I very rarely watch anything to do with the WNBA. I may hear a little local sports news about the Chicago Sky, and I think I’ve heard they’ve had relatively good success these past few years. I am curious, was Britney Griner on a team in the WNBA and just playing off-season over seas or ??

This will no doubt be celebrated by the WNBA.

I am just exploring the WNBA and upon reviewing this Griner was detained in Russia because of an Illegal Substance on May 15, the USA and Russia have considered a prisoner swap Russia exchanging Griner for arms dealer Viktor Bout, and now on the date July 27, 2022, Joe Biden Approved for a possible Prison Swap this time for Brittney Griner  and Paul Whelan for Viktor Bout an arms dealer who has done 10 years on his 25 years life sentence,

That is very sad, I really think they need to consider when I watched the WNBA, it is likely not like the regular NBA but there are certain talents that you can not miss by watching them and it was s sad that Kobe Bryant's Gianna Bryant pass on, she will be a potential future talent for the WNBA, well if they are going for a business model revamp, I really wish that there would still the same talent as the last time,

I very rarely watch anything to do with the WNBA. I may hear a little local sports news about the Chicago Sky, and I think I’ve heard they’ve had relatively good success these past few years. I am curious, was Britney Griner on a team in the WNBA and just playing off-season over seas or ??

Well, pretty much many people are just not interested in women playing basketball, but I am, pretty much I am delighted with the games and Chicago Sky is the number 1 on the Eastern Conference, right now along with the Las Vegas Aces, in the Western Conference,

Brittney Griner pretty much is in prison on Russian soil, but Biden has announced that he approved a prisoner swap with Brittney Griner and Paul Whelan with Viktor Bout but there are no further details about it,

Yes that's one of the most common reason why the league is still struggling two decades after it was created. Talent or skills may be there as btc_angela said but I share other people's observation that it seems women are more interested in men's sports. Maybe the "Karen" supporters of WNBA demanding support from men in social media doesn't help either hehehe.

.....

That is very sad, I really think they need to consider when I watched the WNBA, it is likely not like the regular NBA but there are certain talents that you can not miss by watching them
Unfortunate as it may seem but that's the reality. Some men even compare watching WNBA to buying an inferior product. They would rather choose the best out there if they're going to spend their money.

I'm following WNBA before and even placed bets at some games. That's the time when I'm still at hype betting on basketball after the NBA Finals and my only options are WNBA and local basketball games. But it's been a year now that I don't have any updates regarding the league.

I'm glad that my favorite Becky Hammon of the New York Liberty before, was involved in NBA as an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs for 8 seasons if I'm not mistaken. But this year, he won't be part of the Spurs coaching staff as she now shifts to other league.

Anyways, bookmarking this thread for any updates and for discussion purposes.

I guess it's a good discussion while waiting for the regular season of the NBA. But it's a fact that there's less popular in the WNBA. I guess because of the idea that we've been stuck to the NBA and there's no gender preference issue on this.

Brittney Griner pretty much is in prison on Russian soil, but Biden has announced that he approved a prisoner swap with Brittney Griner and Paul Whelan with Viktor Bout but there are no further details about it,
Let's say the swap occurs, do you think that she'll be able to get back on track on the league?

Was a great bit because he is on so right with that.  His delivery of that bit was great too.  I mean really how can they match nba when they aren't pulling in any money.  Do people actually bet on wnba?  Ya'll hard up for some action 😅

They won't match NBA and I think NBA is subsidizing WNBA to keep it afloat. Anyway, a match is still a match and most gamblers, specially addicts, will bet on anything they can bet on. If sportsbook pick it up, somebody will make a bet.

I won't take too much action in WNBA though because I don't follow this league. It is hard to make a bet when you're just guessing.

Unfortunate as it may seem but that's the reality. Some men even compare watching WNBA to buying an inferior product. They would rather choose the best out there if they're going to spend their money.

Well, I can not blame them and I think they are used to supporting the regular NBA more than with the Woman's league, but I am just asking if we can surely give credit and importance to the woman that surely has potential to the sports of basketball, well and just like what I have said that Kobe Bryant little girl (Gigi) Gianna Byrant was inspired of this sports that she promised that she will one day play on it, well rest their souls, if Bryant is still alive I think he will surely support this in any way possible,

Brittney Griner will never be the same again, all that moments lost almost 5 months, and after this incident, if she can surely play for the WNBA again, maybe she can, but I highly doubt that time that she has missed is surely a lot, and this incident I think was very traumatic for her as well,

Anyway update to the WNBA right now as I am posting this, the Phoenix Mercury and Los Angeles Sparks, are having a match and they are in the 3rd Quarter of their game, having Phoenix Mercury on the advantage, having Diana Taurasi and Skylar Diggins-Smiths pumping some score for the Phoenix Mercury,

Women don't watch basketball to adore the sport, they look at men and appreciate abs and strong men. If the WNBA's uniform will be different like two-piece swimwear, men will flock together in the gym and buy tickets for thier teen kids. Sports athletes' event is a good place to look for your preference. Maybe WNBA will mandatorily require athletes to be sexy and beautiful to have  more support for both men and women.

In my opinion, there are different types of women with different likes and I think the adoration of a woman and another woman is not just intimacy, you can also say that some adoration because she likes how she plays and wants to play just like her, just like Jayson Tatum to Kobe Bryant, Tatum wants the mindset of Kobe and adoring him and one be like him when he plays ball, I really think WNBA doesn't need sexy and beautiful players but if there will be beautiful players that are a bonus, but just like in the NBA talent and greatness in playing basketball is what they are needing,

Here are my picks for the WNBA 2022 tomorrow games

Indiana Fever VS Las Vegas Aces

Stake odds for this game are 7.20 for the Fever while 1.06 for the Aces, for now, there are no injuries for any teams, and Las Vegas Aces have the upper hand with the odds if they are the favorite to win, and the last game for this team it was Las Vegas Aces wins with the score of 90 - 77 a pretty much high Advantage for the Aces, and I think A'ja Wilson from the Aces will score more than 20 plus points again, While Jackie Young is on support, so my pick will be Las Vegas Aces but due to the number of odds for the Aces,

Chicago Sky VS New York Liberty

Stake odds for this game are 1.16 for Sky while 4.50 for Liberty, Right now for New York Liberty Betnijah Laney is said to be the only injured player, and she underwent arthroscopic surgery, On July 24, Liberty won a game against Chicago Sky with 83 - 80 Score, but for now, I think Chicago Sky will take their revenge in this game for me Chicago Sky could win this game, so Chicago Sky is my pick,

^I like the picks but it ain't profitable.
Spreads are -14.5 for the Aces and -10.5 for the Sky. I would just go for the +14.5 for the Indiana Fever instead.

This is good. I was thinking about opening a thread about this too but I was in doubt it will get the support because most of the members here are likely to watch NBA than WNBA.
Perhaps we could make some spark starting with this.

Well, actually I never bet for the Aces VS Fever match and I really don't want to risk a bet for the Indiana Fever aswell, because I think this is a sure win for the Las Vegas Aces, well I should have indicated that I didn't bet on this one, but I have bet on the 2nd game for Halftime/Fulltime, New York Liberty on the 1st half and Chicago Sky on the fulltime, 5.60 for Chicago Sky winning this game,

At first, I was really hesitant in creating this thread, because there might be no people who would like a discussion for the WNBA, but I still made it, and hoped for the best, at the 1st week there are no one posting for the thread, but I think 1 or 2 more weeks have past and likely many are posting in, well not a bad idea posting this thread after all,
