There's no guarantee any website will be always online, even Google was down in past. But how about https://btc2fiat.me/? It's not too long and open source, so you also could host it on your server with better domain name.

I just noticed that bitcoinpricecalc.com had a little glitch this morning where, according to them, the price of bitcoin went up to $24.500 for a brief period only to drop back again. I couldn't find this pump & dump anywhere else. Maybe it's the result of a sudden spike that happened on an exchange somewhere or a source they are getting their data from. I haven't noticed this before with this site. I remember Ledger Live used to show dumb graphs like this in the past.

It's not similar, it's copycat. Anyway, I suggest  to add few more exchanges from where you're taking prices, it's not good to rely on one exchange. It's good that you're using short domain name, but it's not related to Bitcoin and price of it. Though, same can be said about Preev name, but it's already legendary.

It's a shame because I've been using it since I entered the cryptocurrency scene in 2013 - 2014. It was facing the exact same issue less than 2 months ago, it's actually frustrating on what's causing the owner to neglect it. For the time being, I'll be switching to myri.io, which was recommended by another poster.

Well, hate to bump this thread and bring that again but I am receiving the same service has expired error as the previous time... I believe I am not the only one? And how could this happen after barely 1 month of solving this...

In theory it's probably not that hard to do, but I do tip my hat to them since they DID do it while the rest of us just stood around and used it.
Pull a bunch of data from a bunch of APIs and math, I am really surprised nobody else has done it. There are a few that look the same but only pull from 1 source.

The source code in this case is totally worthless. Anyone can do it. Even de api data is worthless, as you can get anywhere. If the api data came from just one exchange it wouldn't make any difference.

The only thing that is worth something here is the domain, as it is widely known and  used.

IMO $1M is too expensive, which is equivalent of btc.com domain price during 2014[1]. If preev.com domain to be auctioned, i'd expect top bid somewhere between $50K - $500K.

Probably it's better to go with more realistic amount if you want to get attention. With $1m offer he will think that you're not serious.

Yeah, $1m would be way too much, $50k probably too cheap. I'm not really sure how much exactly it's worth, but properly monetized this webssite would generate really good money. And I'm not talking about site filled with ads, just few banners would be enough.

Not that I'm aware of, I might be wrong. However, it was basically the first one to do this sort of thing...right. Therefore, the name "preev" is somewhat like a brand name, similar to how IKEA doesn't really have anything to do with the stuff they sell, but practically everyone knows who they are, and what they do.

Since it was in the game early, and was reliable it has built up that reputation. I imagine the owner does know the worth of the domain, and if they don't have any interest in continuing the site, will probably look to sell at some point. It's easy to forget about a sites hosting if it isn't costing you much, and you aren't adding any additional functionality to the website. Obviously, not the best practice, but I know its done quite a lot, even massive companies have fallen into this trap.

Congratulations! Nice business and I like to know such an important name stays at somebody active and trusted.

Still, I am not that happy with the choice of the script, I find others better (one example would be https://preecs.coolstorage.org/ that makes the average of 3 exchanges, keeps the price visible on the title bar and also updates the price regularly without refresh). Of course, I expect you've picked fast one script that looked good and in time you'll get to the best; and it's not that bad either, I'm just overly picky.

IMO it was thought randomly and owner decide to use it since it's short and has only one syllable.

My guess has always been that's some sort of PRicE EValuation (and obviously a short and cheap name picked)
