Gambling is an activity that is considered a hobby for some people. because they have fun in it. so they don't get addicted to it. and can control like controlling other hobbies. so if there are people who need help (in this case need money). then this type of person is more likely to help people in need. because they can gamble again at another time. and I belong to that type.
but these two things can also be done at once if we have enough money. but helping others is more of a priority for me. because sometimes we too will need the services of others.

Suppose that you are a responsible gambler who have allocated a certain portion of money to gamble each month. Now you came across a poor person/family who is in urgent need of money. Will you quit the gambling for that month and give the allocated money to the poor family or will you prefer to gamble as you can't live without gambling ?

Responsible gamblers will not face problems to be able to temporarily stop gambling because the funds are allocated to help people in need in that month, which is a problem for gamblers who are addicted or gamblers who in their lives helping the poor are not what he usually does. However, it is possible that he will use their savings funds to help and the allocated funds for gambling can still be used to gamble because if he is a responsible gambler it means he can manage finances well enough so he is most likely to have savings.

there are small chances to help people while Gambling is always there to bring us enjoyment so why need to choose between the 2?

if you have option to help others then do it perfectly , and if there is another small amount left then that is the funds for gambling to lose.

Yesterday few people requesting for help was on the streets, I had money but I did investigation to help and further didn't help them. My mind says if I could've helped them yesterday I couldn't have lost today.

Do you mean the karma? Like when you do good things to others, then good things shall also happen to you. I also believe that but as you've said, do a little bit of investigation before helping others if they really are in need of help.
Because it's becoming a side hustle of some people that they really are well off and pretends to be beggars and don't have anything in possession. I've seen some videos of it so it's hard to trust.

I think if you ask it in the forum like this, most of people will say that they will give the money to the poor, though I think most people will actually do that, but there will be some people that still choose to gamble over the charity, but saying they prefer otherwise. If you want to get real data, better do the survey anonymously. I myself can say that I would prefer to give money to the poor, but in reality, maybe for some reasons I will choose to gamble, maybe I don't like the people because they have bad attitude, or they are someone I know that have done a bad thing to me.

That's the thing about karma, It doesn't really make sense. Does helping someone who needed financial assistance will provide you with extremely high luck to win in your gambling endeavors? How can doing something good to others will give you something good in return?

Also, If your main reason why you would help someone on the street is to receive something in return such as luck, does that mean the help you provided isn't sincere or which can in return be Bad Karma instead of a good one? It is best to help someone that is sincere and not asking in return rather than expecting something to be reciprocated.

Quit gambling for a month just to help the poor family? I don't have to sacrifice while doing good deeds.

Don't get me wrong as I found that non-sense to do. We can lend help to anyone without harming our gambling activity. It doesn't mean that we can't live without gambling but why should we do that? I doubt the majority here will do that in reality.

If you've gone to the lengths of setting up a budget, you probably have some money set aside for gambling and some set aside for a charitable activity. Unfortunately you do not know the conditions of everyone around you and cannot save everyone in the world. There are people who abuse goodwill by acting poor or even through the best of intentions do not have the ability to manage their money effectively, making it hard to distinguish a worthy cause anymore. If someone approached me saying they are hungry, I would offer to buy them food but will never give cash out because it is all too often used for drugs or alcohol, which while it may be a coping mechanism is not going to solve any problems.

It will depend on the situation like if I personally  know the person well and he works hard for his family. I would not hesitate to helm him even if it would cost some of my gambling funds.

While if it's just some person that I don't know anything about and someone will tell me to help him since I just waste my money on gambling then I will frankly tell him that it is not my obligation to help that person and he should not be the one to decide where I spend my hard-earned money.

Sometimes when you give to the person in need and you see their happy faces, you will feel comfortable and appreciated like no money can buy that happiness for you. therefore, we have this saying "If you want to be happy, feed the poor. I don't want to sound hypocrite here. If I'm in the shoe of a person who can't live without gambling (though that's exaggerated tbh), I wouldn't give my money allocated for gambling to that poor family.
Here's why :

-Helping poor people by giving out money doesn't really help them and you're not helping either. You're only encouraging them to just stay poor because someone is willing to give anyway. I always believe in the saying, "give a man a fish and it will feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and it'll feed him for his lifetime".

-If I win after gambling ,I could give them a portion of my winning and that's a win-win situation.

-The world is unfair anyway. So, I should enjoy whatever I can. There's a time for leisure and there's a time for helping.

Personally, if I have something to spare I'd rather help it even if a few for this family, I think you should allocate on yourself first or know yourself first if you can live with it. Every human is unique so do our differences on behaviors towards other people, you can help the family with other things like collecting of funds too if you can do it.

Yes. I would very much choose to help first.
This is not even a new question to me although there is a difference. There's one guy that borrows money from me every month but he pays well after a week or two. Even if the money is supposed to be used for something else, I don't hesitate to offer help.
Helping feels good and it's a long-term feeling unlike using it to gamble which is just short-term happiness.
It should not even have to be a hard choice.

I support your point of view. Even though my family is not rich, we try to help poor families with things because it greatly reduces their living expenses. But I am not willing to spend the money I allocate for this gambling as everyone needs a break from work from time to time and without money it is quite problematic.

Besides there is an opinion that it is possible to help poor people endlessly thus not allowing them to find themselves in aspiration to make the life better.

In my side of view I am not that kind of hardcore or addicted gambler I play gamble for only entertainment purpose. So helping people in crisis won't do me any great harm by not gambling so I think can easily passed out that one month . But I also think that it will be different for those who are addicted to gambling.  They put their family in crisis and what will they do to help others.

Even someone who is addicted in gambling will still have the mind to help, because saying addiction in gambling means a subsequent gambler, but any one who is not stringy can not help people. I definitely can live without gambling but seriously, giving away your budget for a month is not easy I guess this will still depend on your financial status. Helping other people is not just about giving money, there's no need to make pressure for yourself you can help in any amount as long as you are willing to give. Gambling might not be good to many but for the gambler, this makes them more happy so technically not all can give up gambling easily even for just a month, they can still gamble and help and for sure they will choose this option.

If you can't live without gambling, no need hiding behind the name of a responsible gambler because you allocated some amount of money to gambling. If you can't help someone, you are no different from a chronic gambler with no allocation who can't still live without gambling.

Yes, everyone can help another as long as he is willing too. But that doesn't mean we will stop gambling for a month just to help them pay their debts or lend some money, I rather ask them to help me in some jobs rather than getting the money without anything in return I mean it is just me of course my own perspective but if it is high value of money it should have some collateral like, he will will work for me.

I am not a responsible gambler if I cannot go a month without gambling. Having said that, the importance put on the family will determine whether or not it is worthwhile to support a needy family member who urgently needs money. For instance, while family values are communal in certain cultures, they are individualistic in others. Therefore, if the "responsible gambler" favors the former over the latter, he will assist the family member.

If I can make a real difference with my money that I would use it to help a family in need instead of using it for gambling. The problem is that how can I guarantee that my money will actually do good? Donating to large organisations is very anonymous and I am afraid most of the money will disappear for all types of cost and only a small amount will reach the people in need. In my city there are quite a lot of people on the streets asking for money, but this money is mostly used for drugs and alcohol. I am not a wealthy person and have to save money each month that I can use it for gambling and sports betting. I go out less than I could and don't drink the most fancy drinks and meals when I go out, so that I can enjoy some gambling at home. If I ever manage to win big in gambling and become a millionaire, I would donate some of my winnings.
