I can guess that more times than not people end up losing money in the alt market than win.  For everyone that makes 50x their money there is probably a 100 people who lose it all.  Most of all these projects are useless and built just to create wealth for the founders, creators, devs, whatever you want to call them.  The BEST advise you can give is to steer clear.  There is plenty of money to be made on established projects.

Some projects even before the launch will be under hard discussion. Few such projects I came across in the past were Casper and Mina Protocol. Those are good investment during its presale. Once after the presale, on reaching the market it grew good and profited all the users who got slot during the pre-sale. Right now those are at its all time low price. Finding such coins and taking risk could bring profit. Anyhow DYOR, before making decisions.
