Surviving on the funding of major cricket boards! How can a governing cricket body conduct an international event in such a manner, wherein most games are getting abandoned due to the rain. Cold food and delay in shuttle service can be absorbed but not able to play can be frustrating for some teams.

Afghanistan is a team with lot of potential and the ability to win. Unfortunately they have not played most of their game due to the rain. This is frustrating as a palyer and as a team. Literally ICC sucks today more than it did in the past. A big reason for such irresponsible decisions on the venue can be blamed on those who decided on the venue and the dates for organizing a big event like T20 World Cup.

Considering the present situation it can be clearly understood that most matches would either get cancelled or they might get reduced. Nothing like this can be averted for now but as a follower of cricket such scenes could have been avoided.

I assume Pakistan can beat Bangladesh and Netherlands. But to beat Africa they will have to improve their standard of play much more and also depend on their luck. If they lose like Zimbabwe, the same thing can happen in the other 3 remaining countries as well. So there will have much difficulties for Pakistan.

If Pakistan can lose to Zimbabwe, then there is a chance that they will lose to Netherlands as well. On top of that, now a lot of matches are getting washed out. So there is always a chance that Pakistan may not get full points from their matches against these two countries (Bangladesh and Netherlands). They need to finish within the top 2, in order to qualify for the semi-finals. That is looking very unlikely now, after they ended up with 0 points from 2 matches (lost both their matches till now, the first one being against India).

The loss of Pakistan against Zimbabwe has made a terrible mess of the points table. After this loss, both Bangladesh and Netherlands will try to play their strongest game against Pakistan. I am not certain that Pakistan will be able to get full points from both of those matches.

Honestly, I think Pakistan actually might win against the Netherlands. But, I expect a fierce fight from Bangladesh when they play against Pakistan. And it is going to be really sad if any more matches get washed out. ICC really should be thinking about keeping reserve dates for at least world cup matches. I think if Bangladesh plays a match with Pakistan then I can already say that Bangladesh will lose by a lot of runs. Bangladesh players are now very weak. Bangladesh team used to play a little bit better but now after playing few matches I don't see them winning any match.  .But I will support Pakistan in this game.Because Pakistan has many strong players.

There is absolutely no team balance within Bangladesh. They are overdependent on Litton Kumer Das and Shakib al Hasan for batting, and unfortunately for them the latter is not in good form. Pakistan is not in great shape either, but at least in their case they have good team bonding and balance. And it is going to be a Herculean task for the Bangladeshi batsmen to deal with the searing pace of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah. These bowlers constantly bowl with a speed of around 90 mph. I don't think that Bangladesh batsmen can handle this pace.

As expected another pathetic first session by Srilanka. They started very well but suddenly they became sloppy on the field and had a lot of drop catch. Glenn Philips was in a beast mode today. Every ball that he was hitting was going to the boundary. He now becomes the second batter to get a century in this T20WC. 168 target can be chased if one of the Srilankan batters can stay till the end.

Except for Rajapakse and Sanaka, all Sri Lankans played the match very badly.  Sri Lanka lost today's game only to Phillips Run.

NZ started as the heavy favorites mainly I would say because of their heroics versus Australia, while Sri Lanka always the darkhorse. But after NZ chose to bat first odds were slowly moving towards Sri Lanka as mistakes kept happening for NZ, and their captain fell so fast.

But in the end, Saturday's only match ended with the worthy victors. We have 3 matches tomorrow, so I post the first one now!

The first three (Boult, Southee, Santner) were OK. But I still don't understand how Sodhi contributed to all this. He picked up two wickets towards the end (tailenders - Lahiru Kumara and Wanindu Hasaranga), but before that he conceded a lot of runs. The only quality spin bowler within the Kiwi squad is Mitchell Santner. I don't know why they select substandard bowlers such as Sodhi in the playing XI.

News from Brisbane is that Bangladesh has won the toss and chose to bat first. Bangladesh squad has one change (Yasir Ali comes in), while Tendai Chatara is included for Zimbabwe in the place of Luke Jongwe.

There is a common world in T20 cricket that if one or two players stand then no one else is needed in batting. Yesterday's match showed some of that in favor of New Zealand.
