Absolutely not, subs are there to let you get more points. But the idea is not to sub off players that did well for you, rather try it with players that did poorly. For instance Trippier got 1 point for me and he will go out for DeBruyne tonight, while I will also sub someone else, maybe Eriksen when I see how many points he got for Batsuyashi. Then I have Neymar on final day to twist one more player.

I have Fantasy chat on Clubtalk tomorrow at 6PM GMT between last 2 games so feel free to drop by and ask stuff like that.

I am also changing my captain from Messi to Neymar or DeBruyne. It is a bit of gamble since I will loose his double points but I believe it is worth it.

At least I know I'll never make that mistake again. I stupidly thought subs were there to maximise player rosters, using early games for main 11 and subs for latter games. They should have put a warning though when I subbed Saka or at least say that you'll lose all points collected.

This single mistake has made me feel like giving up, tbh!

I'll not really be free but I'll try find you guys on Clubtalk today. Enjoying Japan, even though none of them are on my Fantasy.

Has anyone else played their 12th man chip in MD1? I've got 9pts from Mbappe, though it should have been more, not sure how he missed that tap-in late in the 1H...

Used it on Kane, not a bad return. Mbappe should have had a hattrick, but then again so did a lot of others (Giroud, Valencia, Saka).

I honestly didnt see that coming. That player had Kane and Messi on his team but then decided to put the captain band on Valencia, there was probably still some other options to put that band on his midfielders though but oh well I guess people needs to think out of the box to get decent amount of points rather than selecting only favourites

He wasn't being a genius, It's because the FIFA fantasy rules is significantly different from that of FPL, If Valencia had not given him worthy return he would have had the chance to replace him with Harry Kane or Messi, unlike in the FPL where you only get one shot at the captain, and you can't even know if he's going to start or not in the FPL.

I've not done so with my captain, I also have mine on Messi and I don't think I want to take the risk of switching it to Neymar or De Bruyne either, but the substitutions have worked pretty well for me, and I don't think the captaincy should be any different.

If you use Boosters (Power Captain*), you don't have to worry about assigning the band, since the captain band automatically goes to the player who scores the most points, I think that's what happened in this case, that way you guarantee double points with your best player.

Needless to say not switching the armband from Messi to De Bruyne has paid off. Though that high press and attacking style of play by the Canadians gave me anxiety throughout the entire match, there was so much space for De Bruyne and the Belgium squad on counter-attacks. It's a miracle he did not end up with multiple attacking returns.

If you intend to include Danish players in your MD2 team, proceed with caution...i'm not saying they will withdraw from the tournament, but i do expect some kind of protest/controversy to happen in the following days.

Yeah but they are taking a stance together with England, Germany and Belgium, so it is sort of not possible to avoid all those teams. I still think it is just posturing and I don't see a way how FIFA can actually make problems for them when they are fighting for human rights. Yes they can posture but if they really gave them some sort of significant punishment, that would probably spell end for the FIFA in near future. All those corruption charges not helping as well so i am thinking there will be big changes in FIFA and/or national football soon.

I have a feeling you're right, Mbappe 9 points feels like they were watching a different game, cause that guy was such a standout even my partner who doesn't normally comment asked me who the hell is that guy? She's convinced France has the classiest style so far that we've watched.

I'm actually leaving my fantasy alone now until MD 1 final game is over, feel like I'm already losing points for experimenting features and Messi's my captain. Definitely tempted to twist it to Neymar. KdB was pissed last night, didn't watch everything but any time I looked, Canada were the ones looking strong.

Also forgot to tune in last night to Clubtalk... was actually very busy ensuring I stayed on leaderboard for the casino tourney heh.

Agree. I do think some players are genuine but it always seems to be cherry-picking to me. Not dismissing the issues at all, but I do feel like the hosts are getting more than their fair share. No team will pull out, but FIFA will not survive this.

I have no idea what I'm doing on FIFA Fantasy because I'm using the same FPL rules; I didn't realize it was possible to auto captain to the highest point gainer in the team or manually change your captain while the game round is still running; I left my captaincy on Pickford by mistake and didn't realize it was still possible to change captain after the deadline. I'm still perplexed as to how I received zero points from Pickford despite England's 5-2 victory.

Points for tackles, key passes, and shots on target are still not added, but devs have decided to put player pictures today...because that's super important, man what a joke.

It's a decent start for me after MD1, but it could have been better i guess. I'm very glad to not have made to have opted for a change to, and now, you can't be sure with what's expected ahead MD2 for Neymar, neither is there a guarantee for Kane either, I think I'll just stick with the free transfer, what would suck more that a waste chip right now, the whole game is already a mess, so much for the most expensive world cup ever, zero fucking preparation.

I think the free transfers will work fine just with my plans and choice for captain as well, I have that locked in already.

I went for the wildcard but you won't believe what i had to go through...

The latest bug/glitch or simply bad game design is that you can see everyone's teams/transfers for MD2, therefore i decide to activate my wildcard and do my transfers as late as possible (around 15 min before the deadline). I activate my wildcard just fine, then click on the player's profile pictures to begin transferring them out, only to find that i can sub on/off or captain my players but not transfer them (while my wildcard is active and the deadline is minutes away). 

In the next ten minutes, i scramble between different browsers trying to fix this but to no avail. All of a sudden, 3 minutes before the deadline that little turquoise icon for transfers shows up and i can finally change my team, 15 transfers in two minutes...mental.

This game is a gift that keeps on giving...infuriating mess is what it is!

In the next ten minutes, i scramble between different browsers trying to fix this but to no avail. All of a sudden, 3 minutes before the deadline that little turquoise icon for transfers shows up and i can finally change my team, 15 transfers in two minutes...mental.

I had a similar problem. Game is not capable of tracking multiple transfers in one go, so I lost a lot of time before trying making just one transfer. Then it worked and then I just did it one by one.

Good thing in this screwed format is that we can continue to make transfers, so if you did not want a Wales/Iran player you had 3 hours until next deadline

Just don't overthink it and enjoy the World Cup, they are changing the rules all the time anyway so there really isn't a point in taking it seriously.

It would have been a nightmare, If I had dedicated more time into research before picking my team and making substitutions, I was already pessimistic with the manner players update about 2 days to the world cup and there are still popular players missing from the game, and right up till now there are no indications for players injured, suspended, even Karim Benzema remains with no indication of not being available in the world cup.

I want to believe there will an update in the KO after half of the teams are eliminated already, but if there are no changes by then, then I don't think there would any at a latter stage in the tournament.

But all that can be overcome by research or simply if you watch the games and news. For instance Neymar is probably not playing in the group stage again and we can act on that. Problem is points from MD1 are still not final, rules are still being changed and we are halfway trough the group stage. That is simply incredible and unthinkable for serious players.

I'm not sure if they are final or not but my team's MD1 points were updated earlier today, i've got the correct number of points for key passes and shots on target, can't say anything about tackles though...a small step in the right direction, i guess.

How's everyone MD2 shaping up so far? I'm on 40 points with seven players available, i had the armband back on Messi, a goal and assist would do just fine, i've no plans to change it.

By the way, the website's Help section (HOW TO PLAY, FAQ'S, TERMS AND CONDITIONS, PRIZES) is completely empty (as of writing this post). What are these guys up to now?

Well you can't actually write a help/FAQ section if the rules are always changing What are they going to write? Just have fun and don't take it seriously since we screwed badly and don't know how to make it right. What is worse, World Cup Fantasy was perfectly good game 4 years ago. I guess they decided to let go of that team and outsource this one to save the budget or some similar bs.

My game week is poor since I had not time to pick my players, literary squeezed it in last 10 minutes before the deadline without any research. I guess it could have been even worse. At least I have Perišić who is sort of differential.

did not had proper time to check the rules, and left team from previous round, without any change, Messi brought most points after all

looking at table, topping the list are most users that I do not recognize, have almost double points compared to me, and situation looks grim only

Actually tried doing some things today, but realised most of my team were already locked in so just subbed out Neymar and put in Richarlison, no time for anything else and a bit too unbothered to look into it.

So the boosts, anyone enjoy anything other than 12th man?

More than anything else, just surprised I got as many points as I did without changing anything.
