Honestly, looks are very important, especially in the first meeting for work or socializing. Sometimes looking at someone's clothes can also tell a person's personality, I mean whether you are rich or poor, maybe we can't afford expensive clothes but we should at least dress neatly, age appropriate and appropriate for the event we are about to attend. Appearance will not be able to fully judge a person's worth but it will leave an impression on everyone we meet.

In my location you must wear a suit, a shirt tucked in good pants with a tie, or a well-tailored native attire, to prove that you are ready for business or employment. Wearing a jean, T-shirt or any casual wear is indecent in business and you would be treated like an unserious individual. But over the years I have learned that appearance can be deceptive, this has made me treat people or business prospects by their behavior, ability, and productivity and not by appearance. Right, it all depends on the type of work, we don't always have to be neat or always wear fancy clothes but it brings a feeling of heat and does not bring a comfortable feeling when working, thereby making work less efficient. Before, I was a worker and my work was mostly in a factory, so I didn't have to dress like a high-ranking person. Currently, I am a freelancer, I have never liked wearing suits or having to wear expensive suits, it gives me a very uncomfortable feeling when working.

Many can relate with what you said now that jobs are now turned remotely because of the recent pandemic. We are now free to wear what we want when working inside of our house but for me, I prefer to not wear a T-shirt at all and I only wear a boxer because I am living on a tropical country unless of course if there will be a special meeting that will be held in zoom but still, I won't wear a pants because that will not be seen in the cam anymore.

For some, they will experience the opposite. They think they are not seriously working if their attires are not proper. It can affect their performance and they are only following the rules that are given to them.

At least with good appearance your customers/clients are most likely attracted to hear more about your business and project. I don't think so, but in fact people who look beautiful people pay more attention to it, I can't deny it, honestly I also like to pay attention to women whose appearance matches her face so I feel impressed, amazed and I feel comfortable. but when it comes to business or industry, people who have good looks and a beautiful face are always prioritized, especially in the world of acting, advertising, hotels, hospitals, bank tellers, and even minimarkets because they are aware of it. because it is very important to dress and look good for marketing strategy in such an industry, and in terms of skills they can train it in the company. Your appearance is the first thing that qualifies you in an interview, if you don't dress well you might not be given much attention. Everybody wants to work with people that can be presentable in appearance. In all activities that we perform daily there are suitable clothes designed for them. When you are going to office you should dress official and don't use the cloth that you are suppose to use when going to the club.

Yes, I also think the same as you. that in terms of appearance it must be adjusted to what type of work is taken. and must also be adapted to the time, situation and conditions of the work itself.

There are different kinds of businesses, and depending on the kind of business, there is an appropriate dress code for it. Rather than setting the standard of the dressing of a serious business man to be a well tucked in suit, considering the kind of business someone does can be important in knowing if someone is properly dressed or not, and if they are serious or not. For some businesses the serious dress code could be a jean, safety boots and a t-shirt, if you wear a swell tucked in suit, you can be well dressed according to you, but not properly dressed, hence may be an indication of un-seriousness, because an individual who is serious about his business is expected to also know the proper dress code suited for his career business to show he knows his job.

This is the reality as of todays which if someone do really looks unappealing or something that not good in the eyes specially on the day were company or employers do make out  some hiring then it cant really be avoided for you to have impressions specially if the candidate doesnt really look good one or properly dressed.It should really be a standard that whenever you do apply for a job then its just right that you should be looking neat

But I prefer to consider the quality of the contents inside even though the packaging is not very attractive to look at because the outer packaging is the first thing that will be torn and thrown away when someone wants to use the contents inside. So why consider a good outer appearance if it will eventually be thrown away and not used.

I think appreance says a lot, if you dress anyhow, I won't really give you the attention you really deserve, I think if your dressing is okay, then I can ask you about what you can offer if am employing anyone. In my country people don't really joke with the way you dress, sometimes you might be having something to offer but just because of the way you dress, you might endup losing the opportunity. That's why if you are going for a job interview in my country, you have to dress responsibility and you have to look good, if you are not properly dressed, you might be disqualified immediately without even asking you about what you can offer.

You could be right that "not properly dressed applicant might be more qualified and knowledgeable" and you might even standout from being "different" than other applicants, but unless you have a really good reason to not wear one, it would say that you are not really serious in making preparation for your application. If you have the means to wear at least a presentable clothing, wear it nonetheless.

4. Weather condition: It is very important to wear clothing that suits the atmospheric condition at a particular time, but most people especially in Africa don't understand this fact. I have been forced to wear a three-piece suit under the hottest sun I have ever experienced because my organization wants me to look presentable and corporate. I was sweating like a Xmas goat and all my clothes got soaked. But a T-shirt. a pair of jeans and a simple shoe would have given me the smartest look at that time.

I saw something along the lines of what your post is on a sigma male grindset page on Facebook, although I do not really lean towards that way of thinking, I'd have to admit they made a valid point when they said that you should dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Taking it at face value could pose some ridiculous notion, but then again the way of thinking it imposes is something that is integral especially in our today's society rigged by people who are so defeatist they'd literally have every excuse for whatever you throw at them. End of the day, clothing is still clothing so one should not pay so much mind into it. But if you could spare a couple dollars to buy appropriate work attire then might as well.

She mentioned that looking presentable and neat from your work can have an overall good and positive impression from your boss that you are somehow responsible. Looking good and taking time to at least care on your appearance can bring positive effects especially if you are employed in a position where you interact with clients on a daily basis.

It really should be standard and just common sense that you should really be looking good and neat in front of possible employers or when you do get interviewed.Just like the rest been saying that you should be

It's the norms to fully dressed well during in a job interview to see how professional you are setting your standard to their standard will always give a higher chance of getting hired. Although, it depends on how you respond during the interview plus how well do you know what job are in and what are your experiences.

If poverty is the problem there are people that will do anything just to get the job like renting a suit if they couldn't afford to buy a new one. That's the kind of people ready to risk everything just to get the job or how desperate you are.

I used to know someone who worked as a male model. He could attract the most healthy women in the neighborhood simply by walking outside with his shirt off. Making friends for people like that comes easy. People will throw opportunities and job options at them. But because things and people come so easy. It means that they usually don't have to work to gain knowledge or develop a skillset. Their physical presence alone has something impressive about it which others admire and covet.

It all comes down to priorities. There are many employers who only want impressive appearing figureheads and spokespersons. No need to know how to read or write. Sometimes when we are in business or in employment, there's no choice but to adjust to its respective environment rather than it will adjust for us. In this competitive world, we should at least adopt the usual standard of being in a nice and good look regardless of the jobs or profession. Since there is a thing called "standards", nothing wrong if we will use on following them.

There's no downgrading when someone pointed out that a person is on their bad attire. Rather than take it as negative, used that as a reference to improve ourselves because it will result in good confidence.

I think it all depends on the situation.  As a financial advisor there are times where going in to meeting wearing a suit and tie make sense and then there are times where wearing a tie, or a suite coat is actually a bad idea.  You really have to cater to your audience and be mindful of what they would like to see out of you.  Of course this is going to be job specific, but dressing nice does put out a positive vibe almost no matter the situation.

If you look back to the first photographs/videos, everyone wore very nice attire.  I was watching a video taken in the late 1800's and was amazed at how nice everyone looked.  They all wore very fancy outfits just for their every day attire. So if we were born a couple hundred years ago this is likely what we would be wearing, regardless of the situation (in some nations anyhow).
