Yes, it matters A LOT, especially if you are in a client-facing role then the way you dress will also tell how the clients will address you. Also, it helps in establishing that you are someone they can trust because you care enough to dress well for your job. But if you are working a job that does not require you to talk to any clients at all, then it's okay if you just wear whatever feels comfortable for you so long as you do not disobey your office's dress code. You should always try to  maintain a good appeareance, which includes personal grooming and wearing the proper clothes for the occasion. At least until you're rich enough that you don't need a job and at that point you can dress whatever you like. That's probably the best policy to go for, although it can really vary between different workplaces - if you walk into a factory or warehouse you might expect to see everyone wearing relatively casual clothing. If you walk into a solicitors office you might be more assured and impressed it they wear a shirt or maybe even a full suit, because it gives the appropriate level of professionalism when it comes to handling large sums of money or potential court cases.

This is unfortunate that the application environment doesn't look at this point you said. I understand it myself but to seek for job , that kind of job that you have to appear nice you have to try and appear that nice you. Your topic come here also. Many can relate with what you said now that jobs are now turned remotely because of the recent pandemic. We are now free to wear what we want when working inside of our house but for me, I prefer to not wear a T-shirt at all and I only wear a boxer because I am living on a tropical country unless of course if there will be a special meeting that will be held in zoom but still, I won't wear a pants because that will not be seen in the cam anymore.

There are different kinds of businesses, and depending on the kind of business, there is an appropriate dress code for it. Rather than setting the standard of the dressing of a serious business man to be a well tucked in suit, considering the kind of business someone does can be important in knowing if someone is properly dressed or not, and if they are serious or not. You have a point, but still, it is a plus for the HR or the one interviewing you that you dress well. In terms of employment, I usually notice when I am still applying for a physical job (not online as I am working now remotely) as long as you dress that is appropriate for the office job, that is fine, there no need to be fancy, but there are other private establishments that it requires you to be in a polo shirt or long sleeves before you are interviewed. It can be highly dependent on your skillset these days, if you are a low level worker doing an easily replaceable job then it is likely that you will have little leeway in what you can wear. Sometimes your uniform is given to you if you're a front-of-house service type worker or maybe you get to choose some plain clothes if you are working in a factory or warehouse. It all depends on the job. Some jobs will require us to acquire pleasing personalities because being presentable is necessary for the company to attract more clients in customers. Some jobs will look after your skills and ability over your appearance. Those jobs won't require you to wear formal attire just to look pleasing since you won't have to appear physically in front of your clients. Even though not everyone has business instincts like successful business leaders, we are all capable of showing our best. but not only appearance, skills and abilities are part of the factors that are equally important.

In work, the requirement to look attractive is not to see how beautiful or handsome the candidate is. but to see the seriousness of job applicants. if the job applicant tries to look attractive, dress neatly and so on during the interview. then it proves that the job applicant has tried to give a good impression of appearance.

Know that there are dress codes for work for every environment there are four types: Business formal, Business Casual, Casual, Uniforms. Also, they said when in Rome, dress like the Romans or something like that.
While some organizations emphasize that one must be formally dressed for an interview, some other organization say tech do not have any hard or fast rule to it.
If I were a hiring manager, I would definitely consider dressing in my hiring decision if it is stated in the interview invite. It tells about the personality of the potential employee.

In the case of employment looking like the job you want to get employed for can give you an advantage. If you turn up for an official job looking like a rockstar, you have of course reduced your chances of getting the job if it was you want. If it was a job where the staffs dress freely because of it's unofficial nature, then appearance may not matter when you are being interviewed for a job. Dress and appear like the position you want.
