I have never travelled to the Philippines, so you may be right about the average salary. But then, FIBA won't be happy if the gate collection gets reduced. The world cup happens only once every 4 years or so, and they want to maximize the revenue. Also, this time the world cup is being co-hosted by 3 different countries - in addition to Philippines, there are matches scheduled in Japan (Okinawa City) and Indonesia as well. So you can't have lower prices for ticket in one country and a different pricing for another.

This ticket is too expensive for me cause I can't afford such hard earned money but in future I might be able to do do these types of tours cause it's my dream to fulfill such destinations that could be a joy for me.

500$ is an average salary for a professional worker not the minimum wager. Minimum wahe earner only earns half of your assumptions not included all the tax charges onmthe salary. The lowest tier for 45$ is still insanely high(not considering the value of the game) for normal Filipino worker which is most common baskerball fans here. Besides the lowest tier view is just like watching dots from above and you are mostly just watching on the screen to see the close up action.

The only good on availing that low tier seat is the crowd experience since most of the people purchasing that seat are those very cheerful and excited to watch the games.

Not sure about some popular arenas here in PH, but referring to Smart Araneta, Upper Boxes do have a good view. The one you see on live stream or TV is way different when you are on a Live Game as a Live Audience. Been in Smart Araneta several times already and the usual tier we always choose is lower tiers (Upper box Section). I will disagree that the view on that tier is like watching dots. It's very clear and has a good view.

Im not really that surprised with those ticket prices specially if this event comes to be the first in history then pretty sure that there would be people who would took a loan just to see out their idols playing out.

If we do base up on standard of living and economic situation plus those standard wages then those in minimum would really be considerable but on that max or most expensive ones are sitting around 2-3 months salary amount on Game 1 and on that Game 3 would be sitting around a year salary of a certain individual which  does really simply says and shows that the ones who would be buying those

In the FIFA World Cup it is not the people from Qatar alone. People who have been agonizing to watch World Cup football got an opportunity, so many from the neighbouring countries made a visit as it is affordable. The same can't reach USA for the upcoming football World Cup and bear the expenses.

They are trying to regain some profit that are affected before because of the pandemic and FIBA knows that Pinoy loves basketball and with this team USA playing in the Philippines, for sure many will grab this opportunity to watch them live. Agreed. This event only occurs once in a while and FIBA needs to maximize their profits. Also, they need to make sure that everyone gets the opportunity. If the tickets are priced lower then people would start hoarding them and this will reduce the opportunities for ordinary fans to watch any of these matches live. And I have already pointed this out - ticket prices for the Philippines edition are much lower than what they have in Japan. The most affordable pass for the Japanese edition is priced at $560 or so. I would say that the current ticket prices sound fair to me.

Why so much concern about the ticket pricing? The lowest tier starts at $45, which I believe is fair. Average monthly wages in Philippines are around $500, so it is not like the tickets are very expensive. First of all, we need to congratulate the FIBA, for their decision to stage this major tournament in Asia. Had they hosted it in the United States, then in all probability they would have earned much higher profits. But they selected an Asian country, in order to popularize the sport further. My respect towards FIBA has increased a lot as a result of this. 

$45 for the tickets are not bad at all to see some of the greatest in the game.  Maybe relatively speaking because of wage discrepancies, but in the US those ticket prices would go for hundreds if not thousands of $ for closer seats.  Price of entertainment is high but worth it if you are a die hard fan.

The impact can't be compared. When NBA players paid a visit to the country, they will just play in an exhibition match but here in FIBA, the competition is serious.

It's a rare chance for a country, especially the Philippines to settle a slot on being a FIBA host country, It just also happened that PH chooses Team USA but in the future, it might not going to happen again and Team USA will play in another country instead.
