From 2k to 23k? I know that the Gen Ad will be at the top and you really can't see it well in the court though there's a big screen there but it is really expensive to watch it even in the upper box and yet they will charge you around 23k that's really ridiculous I'll just watch on the TV and just place bet online instead of wasting it on a seat where I won't be able to fully see it and just watching only on the screen too.  Grin
But for sure? the ticket will be sold out because NBA popularity is really that much  in that country ,  and also there are many people from around Asia that will go the Philippines just to Meet or watch their NBA players inside the court Live so yes this will be a big event and a great chance to watch them.
but like you? maybe will be watching pay per view if available so my whole family and friends can enjoy the games.

I've seen the ticket prices and they're totally expensive, especially for people in our country. But you know what, it is not all about the ticket but the history and the fun that Team USA will bring to the Filipino crowd, we're a basketball nation, and having the match done in our country is groundbreaking.
It will be labeled as one of the most expensive booked events in history too lmao. The prices shown in OP and in the article is just the very first game which is way cheaper than the other last 2 games, its very expensive.
But of course, the experience will be different seeing your international idols playing in person, that's what it matters.

Game 1: ₱2,499-₱52,999
Game 2: ₱2,799-₱121,399
Game 3: ₱5,599-₱231,399

Source: https://philippines.worldcup.basketball/
Yeah, the experience of watching them live is totally a different experience. If I've got that much money, I'd love to watch and have the closest seat next to them.
But as we know, pandemic and crises have happened and this amount of money is somehow hard to spend for wants like this instead of having the necessity and basic needs that we want.

Set your priorities and setting aside those things which you do know that it could really be a huge spending and something that you cant be able to accumulate or save up on long time.
Yes, we do have those kind of wishes and likes on seeing our idols playing closeby or could really be seen by our eyes but there are situations which cant really be avoid out specially
when we do talk about finances.

Not all does have the capability on buying those tickets or entrances which those prices are really that totally absurd. You cant really just make yourself
spending up on something which you could see on TV but well its totally different but i wouldnt really be bulge out on forcing myself
into something that i cant do.

Yes, I forgot to say that staying at home and having some snacks while watching a match is what I like to do. Free from the hassle of commuting in the metro and still can watch it in my comfort.
I know how entirely different it is to experience it to be there but who knows what will be the situation when it comes to now, I'd say that I'll keep the money and have my priorities set.

I would definitely do the same and even though it is really that totally different experience but if you do put up some realizations on there are things which is more priority than on spending lots
for a particular game then making up a decision would not really be very that hard.
If you do have some extra money to shell out which is something doesnt affect your overall savings or investment funds then go ahead but if you are compromising
one of your investment just to look something like this then it wouldn't be worth.

The rare experience is what really wants us to go there but looking at the surging ticket price, that's just going to be okay to pass. Having extra money and don't have that much burden is totally okay spend that much anyway.
If I'm single and don't have any other obligations to do, I'll definitely go there in a heartbeat and it's no brainer that I will have no doubts if I can get a ticket but things have changed when you're no longer single.

When you do already have the family then you would really just easily make these things to pass by and wont tend to spend up money which you could really spend it into other various things specially for the needs of

Lets just accept that fact but if you are that someone who do have that tons of money to be able to spend on then its good but if not then we do have other priorities which we should take note first.
Even myself does really want to go on seeing those NBA stars playing but due to location and money restriction then it would really be just remain as a dream.

Obviously, coz it is more expensive than the other 2 category.
It's only an example of mine in relation on a one time payment for all of the games, and there's no refund going to be made. So you need to go there whatever happen to you personally before the games also its prohibited to resell the tickets.

And no, the Cat 5 won't even cover 50% of the sets, maybe when Cat 5 and Cat 4 is combined to make it 70% of the total seats.

Oh.. OK.. looking at the map, I thought that it covers a larger area. Even 50% is a large number. In the end, FIBA needs to make money and along with TV rights and sponsorship, gate collection is an important avenue for them. Also, they can't let the Japanese fans complain that the ticket prices are different in different locations for the same tournament. As I posted earlier, the lowest priced pass for the Japan segment is priced at ¥75,000 ($560). Anyway, this is once in a lifetime opportunity for basketball fans in Philippines and I am sure that they will make use of it.

When you do already have the family then you would really just easily make these things to pass by and wont tend to spend up money which you could really spend it into other various things specially for the needs of

your family which it is really that something that you would be minding rather than following on things that makes you happy or what you are wishing for when you are still single or doesnt have obligations.

Even if I have a family, if there's just some spare or I've got enough savings I'd go there. But yeah, the point is to prioritize what we have to prioritize.
This is once in a lifetime and I'm sure that there are folks that have already on the preparation to go there and want to see their idols live and it's  like a gift to themselves.
Anyway, I know that someday that we'll be able to see them close and have an interaction that we will always remember.

Can you guys just keep it to yourself? You shouldn't bother with those people who are willing to spend money on tickets as the level of interest is different between you and others. As for me, I really badly want to purchase a ticket but I will skip that part not because I have priorities but instead because I'm not really capable of buying it lol.

Just mind our own business as that's their money after all. We don't have to apply our own opinion to other people.

Let them enjoy that experience regardless if they will end up hungry after the event lol.

Its really indeed none of our business but cant really just able to avoid not to make out  some reactions or sentiments towards those prices specially if you are really that aware that it isnt really
just a small amount to be talk about on which there's no way that a certain salary earner would really be spending up tons of money just for this game.
Its true that level of interest and wishes do really vary on each person and we know that life couldnt really be just fair on  which there are ones who are really that
financially capable on buying out those tickets with insane prices.

They are trying to regain some profit that are affected before because of the pandemic and FIBA knows that Pinoy loves basketball and with this team USA playing in the Philippines, for sure many will grab this opportunity to watch them live. If I only have the extra money, I will surely grab this opportunity to see NBA players, playing in our own court. Though no news yet about the players of USA but I hope that NBA players will come here.

Just to be fair though, a lot of NBA players have been visiting the Philippines or has visited the country for many years because they know that Filipinos love NBA. We have Pinoy blood in the NBA too right now, with Jordan Clarkson and Jalen Green, who visited the country as well way before he become a NBA player, so I wouldn't say that this is once in a lifetime opportunity for us. Maybe for those who are born in the 2000's this could be their opportunity. In 2011, same of the best player visited the country as well, including Kobe Bryant (RIP), Durant and CP3, and James Harden and others:

Even Lebron James visited Philippines too in 2017, his 3rd visit.

So they're trying to milk out Filipino people via imposing those expensive prices tickets or entries? Come to think that the pandemic situation did really affect each country globally which there would be no exemptions
It's a business, you can't do business without getting profit. On the other hand this is a one in a lifetime opportunity to basketball to fans, besides this is not compulsory lol. Of course those who can afford only will try to buy such tickets and it's fair enough actually.

Agreed. This event only occurs once in a while and FIBA needs to maximize their profits. Also, they need to make sure that everyone gets the opportunity. If the tickets are priced lower then people would start hoarding them and this will reduce the opportunities for ordinary fans to watch any of these matches live. And I have already pointed this out - ticket prices for the Philippines edition are much lower than what they have in Japan. The most affordable pass for the Japanese edition is priced at $560 or so. I would say that the current ticket prices sound fair to me.

This is on point but that's why we're saying that it's likely once in a lifetime opportunity for most. Because we don't know if the next time that they'll come again is that we're still able to afford a ticket or if we're in a good situation for which we're free on schedule by that time.
I get to say that events like this is once in a lifetime opportunity because you'll never know when the next one is coming.

For real guys, where did you get that kind of idea Huh

Being a chosen country as a host for FIBA World Cup does have due process to be able to be selected. Participating countries submit their own bid then it now depends on the FIBA Central Board to make the decision.

That is the big reason why TEAM USA playing here in the country on its FIBA group is considered once a lifetime as it might take a decade before this can happen again and that is even not sure. If ever we might see PH hosting a FIBA again, it might not be TEAM USA anymore that is bound to play here but another team instead.

Hope that clears. Smiley

Why so much concern about the ticket pricing? The lowest tier starts at $45, which I believe is fair. Average monthly wages in Philippines are around $500, so it is not like the tickets are very expensive. First of all, we need to congratulate the FIBA, for their decision to stage this major tournament in Asia. Had they hosted it in the United States, then in all probability they would have earned much higher profits. But they selected an Asian country, in order to popularize the sport further. My respect towards FIBA has increased a lot as a result of this.

$45 for the tickets are not bad at all to see some of the greatest in the game.  Maybe relatively speaking because of wage discrepancies, but in the US those ticket prices would go for hundreds if not thousands of $ for closer seats.  Price of entertainment is high but worth it if you are a die hard fan.

Price of entertainment is high but worth it if you are a die hard fan.

That's what others don't get it. The feeling is not mutual for those who just know basketball and for those die-hard fans. If others looked at the price of a ticket as pricey, then so be it but don't generalize that buying those tickets is somehow not practical.

As I said, we should even not talk about these average-salary concerns, etc. That was out of context. Tell that to a die-hard fan lol.

If others don't want to purchase a ticket for their own reasons, then just allow those other people instead who have the interest to buy tickets for their own reason too. During the time Vince Carter visit our University way back in my college days, I really got stunned seeing him. What's more, the level of excitement if there are lots of NBA Superstars at the same time in front of my eyes.

Just to be also fair though, NBA players visiting the country is part of a world tour and it can't be compared with them as Team USA directly competing in FIBA matches here in the country. The impact can't be compared. When NBA players paid a visit to the country, they will just play in an exhibition match but here in FIBA, the competition is serious.

It's a rare chance for a country, especially the Philippines to settle a slot on being a FIBA host country, It just also happened that PH chooses Team USA but in the future, it might not going to happen again and Team USA will play in another country instead. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see Team USA playing here in the country for FIBA as the chances of happening again are rare. The excitement is not the same when NBA players are just visiting the country.
