I have been speculating the forum since I created my account. I am a newbie here in forum but I already knew cryptocurrency since 2018. But all I know is to invest and trade my money only.

I started my trading journey in 2019 and it did not bring a lot of profits. Luckily, I am hired in my company this 2022 and I opened my eyes again for the cryptocurrency opportunity. I came back with my initial investment to my friend.

I invested in MYER, a cryptocurrency platform that gives a positive ROI (For pioneers). When I invested, I thought I will become a millionaire by this time. Not until I found out, that this crypto farming was a SCAM. It scammed many of my co-workers who invested also in this HYIP.

I did not learn from my past mistakes and yet, I was still aggressive. I lose more than 1000 dollars because of my ignorance.

I’m obviously not a newbie but the reason I first came here was curiosity. I had heard about bitcoin & multiple times toyed with myself about investing but I kept putting it off. I bought some & then did lots more research to try & confirm to myself that I’d done a good thing.

I found the forum & have actually discovered it to be a real waterfall of knowledge. Some really smart people here you can soak up info & really learn things that aren’t always possible from just picking up a book.

I do agree with you. Once you have better foundation in cryptocurrency. You can easily separated the projects which may give you a profit or take your savings. That is also one of my primary reason why I engaged in forum. Hoping to become more knowledgeable in cryptocurrency soon.

My reason for being in this forum has evolved just as my ranks have grown. When I was a newbie, my number purpose for being here was to learn about bitcoins. Now that I have good knowledge about bitcoins, my reason for being here is because of the benefit of being among a community of persons that have same interest as I do.

I was lead by a friend who out of pity for a cheap scam I fell for  lead me to this forum to acquire more knowledge of the field I intend diving.
I lost over $400 dollar to those scammers and I felt so bad because it all my life savings as at them and I guess I fell for them out of my greed to make more money and possibly double my money but it was an eye opener for me as there are no free money anywhere.

Welcome to the forum mate. At bitcointalk.org you have the luxury to learn from and share crypto currency knowledge with experts. Your journey has been a sadden one so as almost every new investor of crypto currency but don't give up because the grind is real.

Before going further I would let me advice you that the right projects you are vying for is bitcoin. Although other investors invest in other altcoins but to me that risk is way too high for newbies to go into.

can I answer based on my personal experience first, because I was ever a newbie!  the reason I joined this forum was to make money from Bitcoin and crypto, incidentally, when I first joined, there were many altcoin projects that gave big bounty rewards but over time, I realized that that was a pretty stupid reason to stay in this forum, many lessons that I learned in this forum and it is far more valuable than money.

Here is Bitcointalk forum, and the focus is on Bitcoin here and not altcoins and for good reason too. Bitcoin was the first and has been the most consistent cryptocurrency, having all the qualities of privacy and trustlessness. This means that most here have a leaning towards bitcoin and would try to convince others to do so to.

If there's something you'll definitely not learn here, it's how to get rich quick.
Read replies and join discussions with an open mind. Do not be desperate to get a project to invest into and get lots of profits, there's more to the crypto space than that.

Invest in Bitcoin to put an end to all fraudulent projects. Any other projects besides Bitcoin are vulnerable to fraud because they are overseen by a group of people who own shares in the project or the CEO of that particular project; as a result, when a problem arises, they simply sell their shares or abandon ship, putting an end to the projects.

Since you are already here, just telling ya that you might not need other project to invest to, maybe just call it to Bitcoin and leave it. Considering how common crypto is mentioned now these days in addition of random NFTs everywhere, I would not be surprised that a lot are scams now these days.

When I first joined this forum it was to learn about wallets and exchanges. I wanted to buy bitcoin and hold it as a store of value and inflation hedge and I knew that we were in a bear market, so the time was right. It have me exactly what I wanted. I've learned so much here about the importance of self-custody and hodling. I have shared my journey here in Bitcointalk and why I joined this forum. On 2018, I was taught by someone I know personally and guided me what he knows about this forum and what I can do in this forum. During that year, ranking up an account doesn't require merit in order to rank up. Days later after I joined the forum where the merit is implemented which is the additional new rank requirement to rank up. Before the merit implementation, my goal is to increase my rank through posting where as I have explained that ranking up doesn't require merit. The reason for that is because of bounty campaigns that I can participate and also earn money. Honestly, I was at first here to get money because I saw my friends are very successful in getting money from cryptocurrency, one of them is by earning money from this forum.
After being here and doing many tasks, I was aware that earning money here is not as easy as I see. And moreover, the condition has been different in the past. This was hard. I developed an interest in bitcoins and stumbled on this forum. I didn't have complete access to all the information in all the boards because I was not a member so I had to sign up and join. I joined this forum due to the interest i developed for bitcoin but i was guided by a friend who is familiar with the forum. The news of how bitcoin has been so good in my locality was the current trend everywhere, although bitcoin was banned in my country as an illegal currency but that didn't stop people from trading through peer to peer transaction all around. I was confused about bitcoin at first, but since i joined i have been able to understand alot and i have also turned an investor in bitcoin by purchasing some reasonable amount of bitcoin and hodling it for a long term investment. The reason I am here sometimes feels as if fate has led me because any person that is serious about bitcoin will eventually end up here I believe.

I was one of those people who were interested in making money online and especially with trading/ crypto etc. but every time I would learn a certain way, I would want to hold off from starting and really think through or try to find a person that is really making a living off of that thing. You know, and the more research I did, the more I realized, I should keep learning and studying all the while staying away from all those self-claimed gurus that want to teach you how to make a big amount fast.

I also somehow found out that the real people who are making money or making such big amounts would never ever advertize it or try to teach it to other people in return to a couple of thousand dollars. I am not saying a couple of thousand dollars is not a big money, it is, in fact, it is a huge money where I am, but imagine you are the person that is making so much in one hour, would you go teaching people how to do that and bring more competition ?

So, this is really against normal logic, and the people who actually make that much, possess more than just normal logic. I belive.

Right project? Do you think that everyone on this forum is honest and with good intentions, and that the projects you will find here are exactly what you are looking for? Unfortunately, you have joined a ponzi-scheme where a certain company will offer absurdly high interest rates in a short-amount of time for your investment. I also fell into those trap OP back in 2018 where I also invested my hard-earned money and I lost everything in the process. Now that you know what things to avoid, you can also help the forum by looking for similar schemes and reporting them under the scam accusation board for newbies to see and to avoid.

I joined this forum back in 2017 with hopes of earning money to purchase a watch. That simple and linear mindset back in college is now converted to something bigger- I really dream of purchasing my very first car using the proceeds I earn from campaign signature. Hopefully by the end of 2023 right after I graduate in law school I would be able to achieve this dream!

Like you OP I fell for this kind of scam. One day a girl messaged me on Telegram. Asks many good and bad things about me. Then he helped me learn a lot about his work style. He gave me a site and told me to make an account there. That site was Walmart. There I account and complete the 60 orders given by him.  Many times during this period the balance was exhausted and the person loaded the balance. Later, I was asked to login with my account and complete 60 orders. After completing the order, I received a commission of $20. The next day I went to work the same way and completed his order.  And I log into my account and asked to research to complete my order. I recharged 20$ then after completing some orders asked to recharge again I recharged 40$ again there were some more orders left where asked to recharge more than 100$ then I did not research anymore and left it there.I realized that now I was stepping into deception. Anyway, if you are shown any such greed, then never step in this way.

I guess you must have been well informed due to the length of the replies I'm seeing on your thread but just to add to what I believe others have said, you have to stop searching for the get rich quick scheme as they'll only fail you. If you want a project that really works then invest in Bitcoin. You still have a high chance of making 3x of you money just by Bitcoin going back to its previous all time high of over $60k+.

Now if Bitcoin was to surpassed it's previous all time high and probably go to $100k+ or above as speculated by the community then you can make above 5x of your money while been assured of you not getting rug pulled or exit scam by scammers. Bitcoin still has alot of upside that you should make your investment in and exercise patience instead of chasing after newly launched project for the quick gains.

This is sad. Most people I know who started their crypto journey without any guide either got scammed or had a close call will crypto scammers.

So for the newbies like me, why did you join bitcointalk.org?

This forum has its own unique atmosphere. Briefly describe the forum, we can say that this forum is not about how to make money with cryptocurrencies. This forum is about how not to lose them. Getting to know bitcoin is just one of the ways how not to lose money, and at the same time there is an opportunity to start understanding cryptocurrency and its intricacies without falling for the simple tricks of scammers. All this can be found on this forum.

I agree with this! But some of the newbies most they think is all about earnings. This forum is also for the people who are willing to learn more about cryptocurrency. We should always make sure to post good quality content so that we can also help the forum to grow more effective and efficient especially for the cryptocurrency learners.

The main reason of the forum creation is learning and getting knowledge about cryptocurrency, just like otheren I am here firstly for knowing and learning every Knowledge about Bitcoin and Alts coin and it's related, honestly this is only place where you will get true and real knowledge. I also here for earning money because many of my fellow earn from here so I just visit here learn much about crypto and then start earning from here

I believe we should know why we are here,and at the same time,we may have different reasons why we are here.Some person's come here to read and and comment on people's quality posts,while some person's come  here to make money.Nevertheless, bitcointalk has been inspirational to me ever since I became a member of the bitcointalk discussion forum,I have learnt so many things that I wouldn't have known if I had not been in this forum.
I was a total novice about Bitcoin,it was when I came here that I started reading about it,and I now know how to trade,invest and so on.

You are right buddy, and I am trying to learn many things here.  I don't know much about cryptocurrency but I seem to be able to gain some ideas and knowledge by coming to this forum. I am a small user but I think if I can join this forum for a long time I will be able to learn and gain knowledge in future. I am not currently able to earn any money from this place but I believe I will earn money from it in the future. and from this forum I will be able to gain real knowledge of cryptocurrency.
