It's due to the fact that Loma wasn't the same when he fight Ortiz, although he won the fight, some boxing pundits are not totally sold on his performance and so they think that Haney will be in the advantage. Young and tall and have the reach advantage. And it the same Loma shows in this fight, then maybe he will lose this one.

But we will see, it seems Loma had a ring rust that time that he wasn't able to shake. For sure he has learn his lessons, and as good as he is, he might go and perform better in this fight and win.

I do agree that Loma is still quick and this is his weight class, he just lost to Teo Lopez because of his shoulder injury. If not it could be a different outcome on that fight and he could be the winner. Why not, right? Devin Haney earned his place and that's why he is favored by some and even already assumed that he would defeat Loma, not easily but eventually. Yes, it's indeed 50:50 even for me. Seeing Loma fighting Ortiz recently made me think that this guy is just feeling the ring and adjusting because inactive for quite a long time because of the war. He may surprise us if ever this fight will push through because I really don't believe that Loma will suddenly turn to a decent boxer from being a master of technicalities and a hard one to predict.

That's also what I'm thinking, he lost the belt to Lopez because he has a shoulder injury and then when back and beat Nakatani by TKO and then Richard Commey by decision and then the war started and his supposedly fight with Kambosos was postponed.

And so it's a different situation wherein you are coming back from a injury as opposed to being away from boxing because you have to defend your motherland in a war. Poles apart, so the mindset is not the same when he had his comeback against Ortiz.

I think that the source has just made a guess because the only thing that could be holding up this fight is money and it probably is Haney demanding more because he is the A side. Loma is a great fighter and at some points in his career he looked like the best fighter but since then Haney has stormed ahead and is undefeated. Loma has been defeated 2 times. Haney holds the position and he can demand more then the 50% that was being reported. I never thought the fight would be made with a 50% cut because no fight is ever 50% because it is very rare that both fighters are equal. Loma is probably looking a little jaded and getting to the end of his career so I do not blame him for wanting a pay out but Loma is still a threat to Haney and Haney is undefeated so to risk that 0 on his record he will probably want a 60-70% split. I think 60% is achievable but Loma will not accept 70% split because that would be unfair and disrespectful to him .

Devin Haney has his place. And it's not really at the top. He became an undisputed champion. He earned it of course. And he did by defeating Kambosos, and not really in an exciting fashion. Aside from Kambosos, which fighter did Haney defeat? I mean, did he beat an undefeated big star in the sport? Linares? Gamboa? Haney came and conquered them when they were on their way down from the top.

Loma was first defeated by Salido. Haney didn't defeat Salido. Loma was also defeated by Teofimo. Haney didn't defeat Teofimo.

Well we can deduce why it might be that news could be true,

a. Haney is the defending champion, he has proven himself by traveling to Australia and won both times against Kambosos that supposedly Lomachenco is schedule to face
b. We can call it whatever, A-side, or should be the favorite and so getting the lion share of the split. And the Haney's think it that way, and so they should have the negotiation power and authority.

Anyhow, we have to wait for the outcome of this fight, Haney is the favorite but Loma is very ambitious and motivated to win all the belts. And if by chance Loma will win, then Shakur will obviously target him first. So either of the winner, it will be a great match up for the Shakur moving to this division.
