Lomachenko has predicted that Tank Davis will win against Garcia.

2023 Vasiliy Lomachenko favors Gervonta Davis over Ryan Garcia, talks Fury vs Usyk

Quote
On a Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia matchup
“I said before it’s very interesting fight. It depends how they prepare for this fight. If they prepare 100%, both, it will be very interesting and very hard for both, tough for both. Because they understand boxing and I think, my opinion, Gervonta Davis will win.

“He’s very technical, he has the power, he has the speed, and he knows how he needs to move. And he always fight with guys who are (taller) than him.”

I've also read some posts suggesting that Ryan Garcia doesn't like Lomachenko's prediction and would like to fight Lomachenko after he knocks out Tank Davis. What do you think - is Garcia being too disrespectful by making Lomachenko's prediction too personal?
Lomachenko could probably beat Ryan Garcia but that fight will not happen for another 2 years and Lomachenko will be further from his prime and I would give Ryan Garcia the edge because he will develop experience and only get better. Lomachenko can only get worse. Loma wins against Devin Haney and probably pushes to get this Ryan Garcia fight because it will be another big pay check before he retires but I do not think he is taking his career too seriously. He is just fighting so he can earn as much money before he retires. I do not know if he will win against Devin Haney but if he does I think that is the path he will take and will retire shortly after the Ryan Garcia fight.

Ryan Garcia might not be interested in Loma if he loses against Haney. Ryan Garcia always looks for big fights that will give him more attraction and money, and I'm sure he is confident enough that he will beat Tank Davis. But let's see if that will happen.

Right now, all he can do is use his loud mouth to attract the attention of fans. But once he suffers a defeat, that kind of marketing strategy will no longer be useful for him.

I am probably going to have to go with Devin Haney on this match. Not only is the dude massive but unlike Lomachenco, he is more on the offensive than the defensive side and I think that might be a better advantage. If Devin Haney beats Vasiliy Lomachenko then he could move up to 140 pounds and go straight into a non-title with Teofimo Lopez. And that is definitely a match I would love to see. So perhaps its more of a wish than a confident bet on my side. They are very well matched in skill and strength. This is one of the "not sure if I can pick a side" matches.

It's difficult, I don't know for now who I could bet on, it cannot be denied that Loma has a very good technique, besides he has a rude style, which comes from the old school and is what most of us like to see, a lot action, Haney is a boxer who is very prepared, apart from the intelligence that he applies in the fight it is a talent that few use, most focus on his strength and that his blows are forceful enough to generate a knockout, he is not bad, but I personally see in boxing that the best strategist is the one who wins, and I see that characteristic or talent more in Haney.

Devin Haney: “The Safe Bet Would Be Tank, But You Can’t Count Ryan Out”

Quote
By: Sean Crose

“I think its a good fight,” Devin Haney told Marcos Villegas of FightHub in a recently released video. “Ryan (Garcia) has the height, the length, the speed, but Tank has that power. He has that neutralizer.” Indeed he does. Baltimore native and multi divisional titlist Davis has won all but two of the fights on his unblemished resume within the distance. Still, Haney warns in the video that Garcia will have effective weapons of his own when he steps into the ring to face Davis for their April 22nd superbout.

That might be true, however, Ryan Garcia needed someone with a huge name like Lomachenko to add fragrance and hype to his name even if the latter is much older by that time comes which gives Ryan Garcia more edge and chances to win the fight. Besides, the winner of Garcia-Davis fight will have the chance to fight the undisputed champion whenever it's their time to have a mandatory fight.

It will obviously take a big hit as far as marketing for Ryan Garcia though if he lost this one against Tank David.

But regarding the fight on Haney vs Loma - Haney has been opening his mouth already and try to trash talk Loma, not sure if Loma is aware though or have answers those. But in any case, it might be that Devin has the advantage based on how he destroyed Kambosos, but we can't still discount the fact that Loma is still Hi-Tech and maybe gave us a surprised performance against Devin Haney when they clash.

Right, even the best of them, when father time calls, will have to take the heed and quit from boxing. And since Loma is not getting any younger and as you have said, could only get worse in the next coming years.

So if by chance he beat Devin Haney, he might call either the winner of this fight.

And it will be dangerous for him if he will wait for another year or two as this young boxers will developed more and maturing specially Ryan Garcia.

That's just a big if for now because we can't disregard Devin Haney's intelligence in the ring as well as his power, now I know that Loma also got the same characteristics but he should prove that he still got it as his recent fight shows that he was not that agile anymore, evidently.

And if it turns out that Lomachenko will get defeated here, I bet he treated as a stepping stone for the younger ones like Ryan Garcia as long as he won't retire.

^It is understandable to us that Ryan Garcia is looking for big fights that will give him more attraction and money, as most professional boxers do. But boxing is a sport, and a true champion should be willing to fight the best opponents regardless of the financial reward or public attention. As for the potential Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenko fight, it is certainly an exciting matchup that would bring together two highly skilled boxers. While Ryan Garcia may not be interested in facing Lomachenko if he loses to Haney, it is important to note that Lomachenko is still considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, and any victory over him would be a significant accomplishment for any fighter and probably I even wrong with my perspective.

Not sure though how you see Haney as a offensive boxer, no offense, but he plays more as a defensive fighter like Floyd. He is bigger if that is what you mean by massive, he has the length. If there will be a offensive boxer here in this rematch, it will be Loma, when his 'hi-tech' style and approach.

Sorry that was my bad, of course I meant defensive not offensive style. Obviously. I just got a bit mixed up who I meant lol. Once Haney finds an opening, his counter punching combos are really nice to watch. Not so much his signature jabs but that might be where defensive styles lack style. He really seems to like parrying from a higher guard stance with his jab.

But his attack combos? The transitions are really nice.

I just think his size will be the deciding factor when combined with his defense in his fight vs Loma.

I've seen how Haney moved and I must say that he knows when to throw punches and he wisely targets his opponent's weakness so he'll know that his punches will have sure hits.
If he will still does the same thing when he faces Loma, he might also include countering and having a strong defense against him. Loma is also aggressive and that's something he should prepare for.
I have noticed this too about Devin Haney's fighting style and strategy in the ring --he is a smart fighter who knows when and where to throw punches to target his opponent's weaknesses. Facing Vasiliy Lomachenko, who is known for his aggressive style, will certainly be a challenge for Haney. But Haney has proven himself to be a talented and adaptable fighter, so it is possible that he will incorporate counter-punching and a strong defense into his strategy to counteract Lomachenko's aggression. But let us not conclude the outcome yet --the fight will depend on a variety of factors, including each fighter's physical condition, mental preparation, and in-ring performance.

But in this fight, I think the boxing IQ belongs to Loma, as he has that experience facing tougher opponents in the past and he beat them all. So it's like going to be boxing a counter puncher type of fight in hear. And as we have said in the fight before, it's that their boxing style might be fit for each other.

And it could be that minute details in trainings and preparation that might spell the difference in this fight. Maybe that one training that is very difficult and is known to only to this boxers will be the factor to win it for them.

I'm not sure if people think that way. Haney is undefeated and in his prime now, so we can assume that he has a great boxing IQ in the ring. I believe both boxers are smart enough, but Loma is not undefeated already, and a boxer's record is an important indicator of how good they are. Personally, I'm rooting for Loma to win, despite knowing he'll be the underdog.

Loma will face a challenge in this fight, as it's one of the biggest fights of his career. Haney has not tasted defeat yet because of his smart boxing style. He is quick, although not a KO artist, so Loma has to ensure a good strategy that will give him the edge in this fight

He is the smarter fighter and if this fight was in his prime against a prime Devin Haney I would be confident that Loma wins 9/10 times but Loma is not the same fighter any more and he is suffering from getting old. I wonder how long he will continue to fight after this fight because I think it could be his last chance of securing the big money and then he decides to retire win or lose.

Boxing IQ though is not equal to boxing loses. And we can go back to the amateur days of boxing, Loma has hundreds of fight under his belt, I'm not sure about Haney though. And Loma did fight for the world title in his second fight alone, against a very experience Salido and then Russell in his 3rd fight wherein he beat the American. And then beat a lot of good boxers along the way, not so prime Rigo, Roman Martinez, Nicholas Walters, Jorge Linares etc.

While Haney has George Kambosos Jr (twice), Linares as well, old Yuriorkis Gamboa.

So as far as experience and boxing IQ, I do believed that Loma has a slight advantage.

And if we go on his defeat against Lopez, he has shoulder injury that time that he didn't let the public know prior to the fight.

The shoulder excuse is a excuse he did not look like he had a injury on the night he was just outclassed by a better fighter. I love Loma and I think he is a legend for boxing but he lost that Lopez fight fair and square. He just did not have the stamina to keep up with Lopez and the speed difference was obvious. I know some people claimed Loma was robbed and Lopez should have had points deducted but I do not agree I think it was a fair fight and Lopez won convincingly to me.

But it's just weird how Loma was going slow for the first sixth rounds and like very scared to punch Lopez, so that's why people are agree if Loma had shoulder injury. However it's what it's, the judges are count the scores based on their performance, not taking consideration with their injuries or sickness. So the judges are correct about their scoring to make Lopez win at that matches.

In this fight I just don't want to see Loma did the same thing and he need to try his best in every rounds.

I am probably going to have to go with Devin Haney on this match. Not only is the dude massive but unlike Lomachenco, he is more on the offensive than the defensive side and I think that might be a better advantage.

Yes, Haney is not your kind of a boxer who focuses most of his fights doing offensive maneuvers as we can somehow say and it's quite clear as well that Haney is almost boxing like Mayweather, all those Philly Shell and being technical at most rounds during in any given fight. That is also why he easily defeated Kambosos. Anyway, may I ask what rematch you mean? Because this this will be their first bout.

Teofimo Lopez will have a schedule fight with Josh Taylor the current champion. So if by chance Teo beat Josh then he will be the champion. So a Haney vs Lopez will be all for the belts in 140 lbs.

We will likely figure about that soon. Besides, I'm still inclined and believe that Haney might fight Shakur or Tank first before moving towards the next weight class but while stating these scenarios, it still depends on the upcoming outcome of the Haney-Loma fight.
I also see a lot of similarities in Haney's style with Mayweather, which I don't like, because they handle everything about technical boxing very well, these are things that make them much more intelligent, of course we as fans don't like it , because what we are looking for is always the combinations, the strategies, the techniques and above all the way in which the boxers will react to certain attacks that the boxers give.

Remembering the fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather can produce anger in some, because it was seen that what Mayweather did was run in the ring and still won, something very unfair, and the worst thing is that there was never a rematch.

and:

Haney: I want to show that I’m higher than Lomachenko

Quote
The American undisputed world lightweight champion promised to give the Ukrainian a shake-up.

The absolute world champion in the lightweight division Devin Haney shared his opinion about the fight with Vasily Lomachenko.

According to the American champion, he wants to show that he is the best boxer in the division. Haney has no doubt that he is several times superior to the Ukrainian.

I agree, it was not the usual Loma in that fight as he is not throwing enough punch and it was like in round 8 where he try to do something but it's kinda late. So he could be in some shape or form suffering from something on that fight that made us see a different Loma as you have describe it.

Anyhow he had bounce back ever since, wins against Nakatani in his comeback fight and then RC and Ortiz which raises a red flag though as he might already losing some steps on that fight against a young and bigger fighter.

Whether we like or not, there are indeed some boxers like Devin Haney and Mayweather Jr. who are focusing more about technical because boxing is all about score and these types of boxers is quite hard to defeat because their defense is also tight while giving them a chance to act fast for a counter punch. And as long as they won't be KO'd in the middle of the fight, it's safe to assume that they will win it.

I can't blame you if you hate the way they perform because that is just boring to see, a fight full of technicalities is not a good sight to see. I'd rather watch a whole day full of knockouts and toe-to-toe fight as that is more entertaining rather than watching a single technical fight.

Loma is old now and will probably retire in the next 2 years. I do not think he had a injury I just think he knows that if he fights like he used to in his prime he will gas out and will not have the recovery that he used to have between rounds. I do not think Loma has claimed he had a injury? He just give credit to lopez. I think Loma is the best fighter in his division in his prime but sadly legends get old and decline.

There is no doubt that Devin Haney has the advantage on this match.  The size, the height, the age, the gameplay,  Devin Haney has the advantage on these categories.  Although many think that Lomachenko's style is good for Devin Haney's defensive stance, there is no denying that the recent fight of Lomachenco isn't satisfying as his previous matches.

Lomachenco at the age of 35 is possibly at a decline on its prime. I do not think he is an old boxer since his prime age still lingers.  I also don't think that Loma will be retiring in the next 2 years, I am seeing Loma fighting for another 4 years before he retires.
