For you guys who are still wondering whether the cartel case will push FIFA to relocate the World Cup from Mexico. So the answer is "NO". FIFA consider it as their last solution, which may be happening only if a big war between cartel vs Government to happen.
So if you're still wishing FIFA to change their mind, i believe they won't. The only war can stop them to hold WC event at Mexico. Let's hope it will be going smoothly without serious problem.
Is it because FIFA believes in the US despite the unrest in Mexico? I mean when the cartel gangs retaliate by causing damage during the world cup it will be of full concern to the US as strong security, because after all the Mexican police are not able to handle the cartels without outside help.
Because it is not possible for FIFA to just move the host just like this it takes a long time for readiness, so inevitably Mexico will have to be able to handle when the World Cup event has started.

A big problem is that this cartel may want to use a big event like the World Cup to spread terror. I don't know how they work, but when they want revenge and punish the Mexican government for killing their leader, going after tourists during the World Cup with hidden bombs and other attacks would be the maximum damage they could cause. I am not sure if that is what they would do, but so far I think on TV they usually let civilians run off and don't kill them. Although there was this school bus they burned down and I didn't understand whether there were any people in there.

Either way if I was a visitor to that World Cup, I wouldn't go to Mexico with great feelings and expectations. If the cartel strikes just once days before the World Cup starts, there is no way the government could ensure safety for all visitors.

I don't think there are these kinds of problems in a big event like the World Cup there is no way to create terror or scare people civilians and they don't kill them they leave them alone that's a war between gangs for power that's all there is to know nothing more and nothing less, control over the territory.

This gang war is not happening in all of the entire Mexican States. Some areas are safe and have a peaceful environment. The Mexican government would have to curtail this gang war before it spreads to other areas. They would have to have an alternative stadium. If the fight escalates to the venue of the World Cup, it should be moved to a safer location.

FIFA has to take the security of the players and fans seriously. These drug cartels are so violent that they might want to disorganise the competition due to the crackdown, arrest, and death of senior cartel leaders.

We don't know that the cartels don't carry out terrorist attacks, but i don't think they're interested in not having these things in their own country. They're not like Islamic terrorism, which is much more infamous. They were having broader business problems, so i don't think the approach will be the same, it will be very different. That's why they believe there aren't any problems.
What do you mean we don't know? Usually when there is a terrorist attack sooner or later we know who was behind him, many times it's the same organization that announces it because they are "proud" of what they did. Mexican cartels don't operate this way. Even in the areas with heavy touristic traffic is rare for a tourist to become a target unless he is involved in some shady business. You can just do a simple research online and see if you find any terrorist attacks performed by the Mexican cartels. I don't think you'll find much.
To be fair when it's USA (or Mexico in this case) there are MANY terrorists organizations around the world that hates them. You do not get to hear anyone that hates... Spain for example or anyone like that, because these nations don't really do anything to the world, but when it's USA or nearby, it's dangerous because we get to see them actually do go out and hurt other nations so there are many who wants a revenge.

I mean not that cartels would do anything, because any attack on world cup would mean cartels would be done completely, you would see swats and navies all go in at the same time to stop them completely as a response. There is a reason why cartels try not to kill DEA agents, nobody wants that much heat. But terrorists do not care, so lets hope there is none.

LOL, you couldn't have chosen a worse example than Spain. Guess you never heard of ETA, didn't you? Maybe google them and you will see what they did to Spain.

Anyway, we shouldn't move into politics in this thread since this always goes into the wrong direction and will someone piss off the one or the other person here, as always.
USA will put A LOT of money making the WC safe because if they could not handle that it would be a HUGE embarrassment for them obviously. The critics are already very loud so they can't afford something bad to happen.

Don't know how long it could possibly calm and yeah, a mexican could actually be in better position to tell what's the condition of the situation really looking like out there than only what we're getting from news online. However, it still doesn't mirror differently that there's an insecurity issue over there in Mexico, a country where the world cup would be partly hosted as a co-host nation of the three nations to host the tournament.

Another relevant concern about replacing Mexico now is that how would FIFA decide on their fate in participating in the tournament as qualified participant as their qualification was automatic since they're hosting.

A big problem is that this cartel may want to use a big event like the World Cup to spread terror. I don't know how they work, but when they want revenge and punish the Mexican government for killing their leader, going after tourists during the World Cup with hidden bombs and other attacks would be the maximum damage they could cause. I don't believe that the Cartel intends to carry out terrorist attacks against the government, especially during such a large-scale event.
It's unlikely that they would go that far. It's true that they are not averse to kindness, but they are people who are more interested in money than anything else.

The cartel that is being mentioned here (Jalisco New Generation Cartel or the CJNG) has gone complete nuts. All they want is revenge and they don't care how many people get killed. And from what I heard, the majority of the deaths occurred among the cartel members themselves, when they were trying to attack the police stations and the paramilitary outposts. Given this, I would say that there is a real possibility of fans getting targeted. Teams like Ireland are scheduled to play their matches in Mexico. I would say that for FIFA the most viable option would be to shift them to the US.

It's true. Mexican cartels don't work that way, and then they see football as their main sport and want to watch it in peace, so i don't think there's a chance of attacks during the World Cup, they don't usually do these things, and i are happy about that because everyone will be able to enjoy great football.
