Messi scored another goal at the very last minute, and with this goal, their 2-0 victory was confirmed. At the end, Argentina tried to attack relatively well, and at the very last stage they succeeded.

In Argentina's previous match, they won 3-0 against Algeria, Messi scored all 3 goals, in this match they won 2-0 against Austria, these 2 goals were also scored by Messi. Messi is the best player of the best and the fact that he is performing so well for the team at this age has really captured everyone's attention. I keep asking if can there really be a player like Lionel Messi again? He is so goated that you can't get bored watching him in almost every match he plays. Look how he recovered quickly after missing a penalty in the early start of the match. He scored 5 goals for Argentina in their first 2 matches, it shows his passion and love for his country that's why he keeps breaking records. A player of his age and still performing this perfectly. If he had scored the penalty it would have been another hat trick.

Football doesn't work that way, he might play against Jordan and find it difficult to score even a single goal. Perhaps,  Messi is not a selfish player so I believe he will focus more to create scoring chances for his teammates in their next match against Jordan because he doesn't like when he is the only one that is being praised when it is clearly joint efforts. Though we can say that Argentina has one of the  easier teams in the group stage but even if they meet strong teams they can still perform same way.

It was not entirely Messi's fault

The Austrian goal keeper waited perfectly for Messi and chose the right side, denying the corner. Messi missed because he tried to do even a little bit to the right but there was no room for the ball, so it went out

The only chance was if he could change the side of the goal at the final second like what Neymar can do, and this is why I think Neymar scores more easily on penalties.

Missing a penalty once in a while, doesn't mean that Messi isn't good at taking penalties. He over spin the ball which was why it went beyond where he wanted to place the ball. I don't see how Australia goalie was the cause of his miss because assuming that penalty was going into the back of the net, he wouldn't have stopped it.

When did I say Messi is not good at taking penalties? Do not assume this when I have not said anything close to that

I said Neymar is better in this case and we can confirm that seeing old videos of Neymar teaching Messi how the takes penalties in PSG.

A player like messi there merit are not measured by penalty and even without that messi still scored just look at the goal he scored and this guy's are not even normal and the way messi is performing this world cup is different from that of last world cup and messi is taking this one personally and am very sure that there are more goals coming and that is just messi for you and the way they are cooperating with messsi and I just love the way the whole thing is going in the world cup but the funny thing is going to be that with this kind of performance a lot of them will want to measure up to messi so there will be pressure everywhere very interesting especially for Ronaldo and many more.

Messi's missed penalty might have upset some fans but Argentina continued to control the game and create chances and it was only a matter of time before they scored. I think Messi himself realized he had let the team down so he tried to correct the mistake. the second goal was a reward for his effort and persistence. but it's worth noting that the entire Argentina team looked good in attack not just Messi.

Although Argentina is the defending champion and highly rated in the FIFA ranking, that doesn't mean that Austria will be walloped. This European country is ranked 21st in the FIFA rankings. We have seen many low-ranked countries win or get a draw against big teams in this World Cup.

It might not be as eventful as you wanted but the most important thing now is that Argentina has qualified for the next stage of the World Cup.  And Lionel Messi is breaking records (highest goal scorer in World Cup history) and enjoying his (maybe) last World Cup.

In my opinion, we share the same view and Messi is clearly one of those figures capable of making a real impact on the team's game. He is already 38 years old, but his spirit and agility have not faded even when compared to hundreds of players younger than him. I hope Messi can successfully carry out his plans throughout the 2026 World Cup and achieve another major milestone, but I have to admit he has been truly excellent in two consecutive matches.

Throughout the match, Argentina actually struggled significantly to withstand the waves of attacks launched by the Austrian players. I thought Austria would score in this match and ultimately force Argentina to work harder, but I was mistaken. In the end, Messi sealed the victory by scoring his fifth goal.

His a great player no doubt and has done very well for himself and his country I just can’t believe at this age his still performing more better than those who are still very young his just carrying his country and scoring the goals what a great player if they end up winning the World Cup again I’m very sure his going to win the ballon d’Or and no body can stop him from winning it, with the way they are performing they are likely to win this 2026 World Cup, I never thought he will be the man of the match again they have just qualified from the group stage they should start preparing for the next stage.

I'm a big fan of Nassim Taleb's books and the "black swan" concept. And I think coach Carlo Ancelotti is exactly that kind of "black swan" (positive for the Brazilian football team and negative for its opponents)! 🙋

Brazilians are very emotional  by nature... In my opinion, they're more accustomed to enjoying the process than striving for results. It's no wonder Brazil is famous for its unbridled, energetic, vibrant carnival. And this is where Brazilians differ greatly from the pragmatic, cold-blooded Europeans.

Ancelotti is a true European. He's a strategist and a pragmatist. And he can give the Brazilian team what it initially lacks (systematicity, determination, and discipline).

At the same time, Ancelotti is a brilliant psychologist. He knows how to build relationships with people and understand their mentality.  He spent many years as a coach at Real Madrid, training top Brazilian players (Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Éder Militao, and others).

Who better than him could come up with a way to combine the irrepressible energy of Brazilian football with the pragmatic determination of European football? After all, the Argentine team did it in 2022! And they won! 💁

He can "try", but it may not work. It is true that he is great at people management and he is doing his best to bring in the tactics that would work, but Ancelotti is not the German train conductor type of rigid systematic guy you think of, he is also quite relaxed on his approach, this is why he has great relations with his players, because he doesn't push them forward, he lets them be.
