Canada v South Africa. that was a strange match. i’ve rarely seen so many mistakes from the players in a World Cup match. an incredible number of misplaced
passes over the 90 minutes. and I didn’t think there was much atmosphere in the stadium. anyway, one of the host nations has progressed to the next round
and will now play in the round of 16 against ??  is their opponent known yet? which team could they be up against?

South Africa hb qualify for the round of 32 of the world cup an their match against Canada shouldn't be totally written off because at this stage we can expect a lot of mistakes from teams that we expect results from ordinarily, the pressure is intense as we should allow national team the chance to really be stable before expecting much in terms of results.

I didn't watch the game, but the statistics suggest that Canada was a little bit better and yet I have to confess that conceding a goal in a knockout match at a World Cup in extra time is brutal. South Africa must have given them a great fight though and since I saw the first two matches South Africa played in the group stage, it was all about fighting for them and not really about playing well. I had a feeling that this could be their last match. I just didn't know how good Canada really is because that match in Qatar can easily be misleading due to the red cards that Qatar received.

The Canadian fans must be freaking out for sure because they now already achieved more at a World Cup than ever before. If I remember correctly, they have never qualified for the final round at a World Cup, which means this is now a dream coming true for them.

Of course, some teams will be eliminated, because teams that aren't eliminated can't advance any further. I don't think many of the big teams will be eliminated. Surprise results might happen in later stages, not the first. Canada didn't allow any surprises and advanced to the next round as expected. I'm not expecting surprise results among the other strong teams either, because their opponents will generally be weaker teams. Nevertheless, they need to be careful and prepared for tough defenses.

Actually, I wasn't expecting South Africa to win the game because my instincts told me so. I think, South Africa was expecting to end the match in a penalty shootout which was why they decided to play a defensive game.

With the knockout stage approaching, it appears there are many great teams on the left side of the bracket. You're right, we'll likely see strong teams facing off & eliminating each other early on. With the knockout stage approaching, it appears there are many great teams on the left side of the bracket. You're right, we'll likely see strong teams facing off & eliminating each other early on. I'm not sure about Norway. I don't think they'll win the World Cup with just one player. Every player on France is fantastic. In my opinion, the French are the biggest contenders for the championship. Besides the French, I think England are also very strong contenders. Even though they didn't get some of the results they wanted in the group stage, England are a tournament team and will continue to fight for the championship in the later stages.

I must tell you that France is not the defending champion, but Argentina is the one who bears that status.
I agree that France, Spain, Germany, Argentina and Portugal are some of the favourites to win the World Cup, but some observers are starting to think that the Netherlands have almost the same chance of winning it. No need to underestimate anyone including African teams, they also have a chance to win the World Cup title if they play compact and perform well.

I have 2 main favorites for this World Cup, first Spain and second is Argentina. Spain performed well throughout the group stages, as did Argentina. The performance of these two teams is equally good and this is something that can keep the optimism of the players in order to qualify for the higher round.

Was also thinking think the game will be decided in a penalty shootout but Canada didn't let that happen as they continued efforts to get a goal was crowned in the 92nd minute when Stephen Eustáquio scored the game's only goal. Yes we know the goal came as a result of a South African defender's error but that wouldn't change the fact that the African team has been eliminated. South African players will be disappointed with the result, they did well in the game but their best wasn't enough to stop Canada who are now waiting to confirm they round of 16 opponents.

In this World Cup, I really feel sad for Iran. The way they crashed out was not nice at all. They fought hard in every match, but VAR reviewed two offside calls in two of their games and canceled goals that could have changed everything, one against Belgium and the other against Egypt. Honestly, I don't even understand the rules that were applied to cancel those goals. In real time, they looked fine. Then VAR comes in with those lines and takes it all away. It's frustrating to watch and I can only imagine how the players and Iranian fans feel. Sometimes it feels like this VAR technology does more harm than good in serious situations on the pitch.

This is one of the few moment that make the world cup so interesting. People far and near come to watch moment like this. Most people did not expect a goal to come in full time like it was for both teams to score. Until Canada had that opportunity. We all saw what it means for the fans and those who do not want to see South Africa qualify. However it was a well fought game for South Africa.

South Africa did a really good job when it comes to defending. They tried to do the same thing they did against South Korea. But it didn't work out this time.

By the way African teams have made a great job in this World Cup. 9 out of 10 African teams managed to qualify from their groups.

It was a pleasing result for Canada. They are currently having a dream World Cup. They have played very successful matches in their own stadiums in front of their own fans. I think we should say that Canada is having its best tournament performance so far. They seem completely focused on the World Cup, along with their players.

South Africa the second African country to be eliminated in this world cup. I personally expected them to go further than this but Canada seems like a difficult team to win.
Unfortunately some teams has to pass through hard route to get to The top of this world cup, and it feels so unbalanced but it's always part of the game. nevertheless south Africa reaching the knockout stage was a good achievement, they'll try again next time.

I also wasn't expecting South Africa to win Canada I even predicted Canada to win South Africa either 2-1 or 1-0. I'm so happy that Canada won South Africa because my wish for them is to be eliminated in this World Cup. Yes South Africa plan was to hold Canada to a 0-0 draw match for the match to be decided in a penalty shootout but their plan didn't work.

It was a pleasing result for Canada. They are currently having a dream World Cup. They have played very successful matches in their own stadiums in front of their own fans. They have become one of my favorite teams this year. I didn't have high expectations for them before the tournament, but they proved me wrong. I think we should say that Canada is having its best tournament performance so far. They seem completely focused on the World Cup, along with their players.

Canada's test will start in the last 16 because I think even though they are the favorites from the start, in the last 16 the situation will be different when it is Morocco/Netherland that they will face.
But their journey so far and being able to be in the last 16 is already a very good achievement for them.At least with the results yes

Their group phase was quite good but the depth of the squad they have for now I think the last 16 is already very good when compared to some other teams especially for the seeding they obviously lost but the impetus of giving their best in their own home obviously it's a different situation and Canada is successfully delivering that now.

Canada fight was worthy of appreciation in this match, they still made an effort to end the match with a victory in normal time, and apparently the moment came when the match only left a few minutes that they did not waste, congratulations on the victory. And with this result they created a new history as they qualified for the round of 16 for the first time, once again they utilized the advantage of hosting the world cup very well. Their next opponent will be either the Netherlands or Morocco.

After qualifying with five points I can say Portugal have achieved something very important which qualifying for the next round despite having some glitches in the group stage against DR Congo and the Columbian side, the Croatian team also had some problems trying to qualify but I dont think Croatia is a better team than the Portuguese, their knockout fixture would be a very crucial one because it means one of these teams would be eliminated and I hope it's not Portugal.

Portugal didn't expect that Dr congo would be strong to defeat. They underrated congo they thought it would be simple to secure all three points from the game. Congo was much stronger and their defense were very solid and Portugal were unable to score many score goals. Portugal could've defeated Congo on paper without breaking a sweat but in reality, Portugal tried all they could to score a second goal but Congo defense was very strong. Congo didn't possess the ball as much as Portugal did but they defended well in the match. Congo was able to secure four points so they are even better than Uzbekistan who can't secure a single point.
