Brazil is really struggling to break the Japanese team. Brazil has all to do in the second half and I don't envy them because the Japanese team are a hard nut to crack.
One underrated team that has surprised everyone has been Japan, they aren't like the other underated team that made it through to the knockout stage because they are actually playing good football.
Japan do not have the best players but the play such intelligent football that is working well for them.

Brazil has been able to equalized now but are still finding it hard to get another goal(s), Vini. Junior saw his shot hit the post. If Japan had met a lower team than Brazil they could have a better chance of remaining in the competition for a longer time but this unfortunately this is the night they might be out.

Brazil just have to try not to concede and then they will break the defense of Japan again.

Brazil team came back great after the break against Japan in the round of 32 match of the FIFA World Cup as we saw that the Japanese player was able to take the lead by scoring a goal in just the 29th minute. Actually, I think that in this match against Japan, the Brazilian player Casemiro showed his experience because this player scored today to bring his team to the equalizer. On paper, we all might have considered Brazil as the favorite to win today's match but Japan surprised everyone with their great performance, this match is already tied so Brazil and Japan must play a lot of tactical football to win this match.

Brazil dosent have a single idea in attack and this will be a serious problem in the second half. Its really wierd that they cannot create a single chance,Japan currently playing incredible in defence and is waiting for a counter attack. I wonder what will happen in the second half,if Japan will continue like this to defend and will they be able to hold out until the end. If Brazil continues like this they will qualify for the next stage for sure.

Brazil have already equalized in the second half, ten minutes after the second half started and I still expect Brazil to win this game tho but let’s see how it goes..

I said it earlier today, Japan are one of the most tactical team in this World Cup and they’ve proved that in this game, their goalkeeper has four saves in this game already while Brazil’s goalkeeper have zero saves and he has conceded one goal in the first half.  Japan’s defense is solid in this game and even if they get eliminated in this game, atleast they fought to the very end and they defended well..

That's what I expected, Brazil in the end managed to score and equalize to 1-1.
Brazil are expected to score a second goal to ensure they qualify for the last 16, but Japan are unlikely to be underestimated while they are still likely to chase their dreams. Japan don't look like they want to lose from how they play, but in the end I agree that Brazil tend to be more expected to qualify for the next round.

There is no time to adjust tactics and widen the gap in defense.

If Japan somehow wins today, it will be a massive upset.

In fact, you don't have to go far to see the quality of Japan. Their discipline and that screamer goal from Sano at the start was just amazing. If I had not seen today's game, I would not have understood that Japan has built such a good squad.

And if we talk about Brazil, Casemiro's goal and Vinny's chance prove their squad depth. However, the match is still tied at 1-1 and could go either way.

I think Brazil should push higher. But counter attacks should also be watched. The Japanese goalkeeper has been playing the main role so far. The match is already going to extra time.

 We're yet to see things that would make us confused, the tournament just got tougher and every team has to be careful with their opponents, qualifying for the round of 32 means they're a decent team. Martinelli has become a super sup right from last season when he do come in to help his team win games and I think that was what qualified him to be in this World Cup team and has done it for Brazil. Congratulations to Brazil.

Brazil just struggled too much! More than they could have in fact... But the main reason behind is really not having great players mostly in the squad I believe. So I agree with those people thinking like this.

Their next competitor is likely to be Norway if they don't fail against Ivory Coast. I doubt Brazil against Norway already.    Norway are much stronger than Japan in offense.

Very disappointing game from Japan. I mean they have been the underdog for a reason but playing this weak was something I didn't expect for sure. Only 5 shots, very low possession and basically just standing deep waiting for Brazil to attack. Even a surprise lead didn't help them, they were just WAY to passive to win anything here. Once the equalizer was scored the writing was on the wall that this game will not go Japan's way. Of course it's kinda unlucky the way it ended conceding a goal that late in injury time, but they kinda deserved it for the way the played.

Brazil took the Japanese by storm at the last minutes to the full game time by and coming from a goal down to get an equalising score.

Still, did not felt satisfied with ending the match in a draw' Brazil left no room for points sharing. What a piece of beautiful football tonight, reminding me that it is not over till is over.

Martinelli goal for Brazil came in just close in time with when Eustáquio of  Canada got the winner goal against South Africa. The world cup is gradually reaching it most interesting stages.

I feel sorry for them too. Always so close yet so far. I feel it's because Japan lost concentration that's what put them in this mess cause if they had maintained the pressure of the first half, it would have been quite difficult for Brazil to secure this win.

Initially, with Japan's attack and their defense, we thought that Brazil might face many obstacles in today's match but this experienced team came back great after the break with their best performance and they were desperate to win. In today's important match, Arsenal's player Martinelli showed the most impressive performance because in my opinion he scored the winning goal that allowed Brazil to secure their place in the Round of Sixteen.

Japan also deserves our praise for their disciplined, solid play, excellent transitions and a well formed system especially in the first half. They knew what to do, where to position themselves, and where to move especially during positive transitions. However, Ancelotti was very astute in recognizing his team's difficulties, and immediately made a substitution, bringing on Endrick. This caused the Japanese defense to lose focus leading to the two goals conceded.

Japan lost tonight. But these Japanese warriors put up a formidable fight with technique on par with the greats of football, and they proved successful in making it difficult for Brazil to score. Until the final minute, a miracle happened for Brazil, when Matinelli scored a goal after a Japanese error, giving Brazil a 2-1 lead. Losing by a comeback to Brazil and losing in the final minutes was certainly painful, but they went home with their heads held high for having put on a great performance.
