Yeah the much expectation on first to score a goal from this game was on Germany but it appears the Paraguay side decided to take the lead since Germany players were not ready to. Japan did their absolute best, they could have even gotten a win today.  They started the first half strongly, where they made good runs and defense. But what I later noticed about them especially in the second half is that they tired and looked dull. The energy they put in that first half had been exhausted. That was why Brazil was able to press them alot in the second half. Vinicius junior create some good chances but that Wood work he hitted is quite painful. Casemiro's header change the trajectory of the game, it gave the Brazilian players more motivation. I swr to God I never expected that the winning goal will even come from Martinelli but it was as a result of that Japan no 7 players who wanted to dribble in front of their box.

Earlier today we saw Japan pulled a strong one on Brazil but the Brazilian had to finish it off late in the game to advance to the next round, I was thinking that won't happen with Germany, my initial thoughts was that of Germany scoring and winning in both halves but as it stands now, Germany has to come from behind if they have any intentions of moving to the next round. It's still shocking to me, it seems like this world cup teams are really prepared for the big teams.

It is highly likely that the same kind of drama seen in Brazil's previous match will unfold, Germany managed to score a goal through Kai Havertz early in the second half. With the current conditions Germany is dominating the match, it was impossible for Germany not to score again with about 15 minutes left before the match truly ended.

I was privileged to watch Korea Japan in 2002, the Japanese team at every point is not always an easy team to win, and I will say that it was just pure luck that Brazil used to win this tonight game, a 90 minute extra time go was the luckiest they've gotten in this tournament, but I also want to say that the Brazil team is getting far weaker everyday, there's no doubt about the fact that they've been progressing to the next stage but we expected more compact and aggressiveness in attack considering the fact that they had more experience players than the Japanese team when we talk about European exposure.

As for the German team against Paraguay they've been having lockhorns, and I will say to a large extent the German team are even the lucky guys because they were initially losing 1-0, before the Germans  had to equalize, and so far we've had up to 85 minutes of play, and the game is tilting towards the end. In the initial game we had between Brazil and Japan, it might likely be that this game will end 1-1 in the first 90 minutes or somebody might score between now until 90 minutes.

Brazil match today was very nerve-wracking, especially in the 26th minute when Brazil conceded a goal and equalized in the 56th minute. But if there had been no goal in the extra minute, the result of the game would have changed. However, luckily for Brazil, they scored in the extra minute and secured their place in the round of 16.

However, the 90 minutes of play between Germany and Paraguay have now been completed and an additional 30 minutes will be played, where it can be said that if there is a draw, it will be a tiebreaker and in that case the result of the match can change in any direction.

After watching the match of Germany and Côte d'Ivoire, I was not convinced about this Germany team. They are a strong team but lately they are not that team we used to know. They won the match but I wasn't convinced they will go far if they happen to meet other teams like them. Paraguay is not a big team but looks at what's happening now, they are playing the ball but Paraguay has had the most chances to score in this match. Germany is just playing and passing the ball, Paraguay is defending deep and not allowing spaces to be created around them, they got few opportunities in front and out of the three, they scored one of it. Germany was held to a draw by Paraguay, Germany isn't what we used to know before now. When the beat Curacao, I thought Germany had arrived then against Côte d'Ivoire, I had to think about it again.

Brazil Japan game was indeed an interesting one especially at the die minutes of the game, from what I observed in the game i will say it was a lucky day for Brazil because if not for luck the game won't have ended in favour of Brazil. Although Brazil dominated and possessed them beyond reasonable doubts but they had all the focus and tactical technique that enable them make there vision for goals come to reality but only lost it all when they thought it was over. Although I won't blame Japan for the lost because they do not have what it takes to withstand Brazil's pressure in the game. I didn't hope for Japan to beat Brazil, I was surprised when Japan scored the first goal and even won on the half, I hoped Brazil came from behind to win an. I was excited when it happened at the last minute of added time. Truth be told, I totally agree with you, this team is not the legendary Brazilian team we heard about and watched even. From the stories I have heard about Brazil and the highlights and records of the country in football, this is not that Brazil, maybe this is Brazil version 2.0 Japan will be a walk over for that Brazilian team but this is where we are today, Brazil struggling to beat Japan at this critical stage of the competition.

Before the match started I never believed Japan could win Brazil but when the game started I started having doubts because of how Brazil approached the game. Japan played really well that I expected them to be rewarded of reaching the overtime at least but sadly they couldn't hold on for long and couldn't reach extra time as we all hope.

Brazil and Germany are not how they used to be and I am also not convinced with their performance so far. I want to see how they will perform when they face a stronger team. Based on my prediction I don't think they will survive long with this performance like this.

Brazil has been able to equalized now but are still finding it hard to get another goal(s), Vini. Junior saw his shot hit the post. If Japan had met a lower team than Brazil they could have a better chance of remaining in the competition for a longer time but this unfortunately this is the night they might be out.
Brazil just have to try not to concede and then they will break the defense of Japan again.

In fact, you don't have to go far to see the quality of Japan. Their discipline and that screamer goal from Sano at the start was just amazing. If I had not seen today's game, I would not have understood that Japan has built such a good squad.

And if we talk about Brazil, Casemiro's goal and Vinny's chance prove their squad depth. However, the match is still tied at 1-1 and could go either way.

I think Brazil should push higher. But counter attacks should also be watched. The Japanese goalkeeper has been playing the main role so far. The match is already going to extra time.

Brazil got a late winner, pretty remarkable and this shows how solid the team of Japan are and they were also like this in the last world cup or more.

Unfortunately the goal was disallowed after going back to the VAR, I am very sad about that and what's going on with Germany. I have noticed so many mistakes against Germany that the referee is ignoring, while he is easily giving free kicks and helping Paraguay. Probably I am being emotional for this match, but someone can confirm this while watching.

If Germany couldn't score in the game, I am not sure they can win with penalties.

I thought this was the end of the World Cup for me today. I supported Brazil, and I was kinda disappointed to see them concede the first goal and struggle to score. I must admit that Japan has played really well, and they successfully created a lot of pressure on the entire Brazilian team. It is good that Brazil came back strongly, scored two goals, and took the lead to win the match without needing a penalty shootout.

Credit goes to that Notebook guy, the Japanese coach, who prepared this team. They played really well. It was unlucky for them that they couldn't keep it till the end of the match. Congrats to team Brazil, they are likely to meet Belgium in the round of 16.

Paraguay are still fighting bravely against Germany and probably are hoping to get the game to a penalty shootout. If they manage to eliminate Germany, that would be a huge success on its own.

Odds for the other tonight/tomorrow round of 32 games (by Winna.com) are:

As we can see, France is one of the strongest favourites to go through to the final 16 and bookies don't give Sweden too much chance.
I think a bet on Norway could be a sensible pick. They could be a bit underrated because of their high loss to France, but I think they are more than capable of going past the Ivory Coast.
