They pumped Ethereum in ETH/BTC pair in 2017 to steal people's bitcoins.

People bought Ethereum in 2017 probably thought that Ethereum will take over Bitcoin first position. They thought that even 0.15 BTC for one ETH was still cheap because soon 1 ETH will become 1 BTC or > 1 BTC.



More terrible than Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash BCH scammers stole people's bitcoins in 2017 with >0.22 BTC exchanged for 1 BCH.

I can tell from the previous winters that the end of a crypto winter has always come by surprise. So no, I don't know if it's over or not, we will know only after it's over.
I tend to believe that this one feels longer than the previous one, still, I think that the crypto winter of 2015 felt longer/worse.

Imho with the current overall interest in bitcoin the people, businesses and financial institutions are showing, the spring will come, sooner or later.
But more patience may be needed, because the world economy is not in a great shape right now.
And, as others also said, make sure you don't lose focus and hold (only) bitcoin (take it as an advise you don't have to follow, if you are still into altcoins, DYOR).

I have survived the previous crypto winter and I will say that it will end sooner or later and so don't even think of selling at a loss.
The market will tempt you a lot to sell your coins since the prices will keep falling but at one point it will revert and shoot up again.
You can keep holding your coins because it will definitely spike up and break ATH.
This is with respect to bitcoin and ethereum only. I can't say about any other coin but both of these are legit coins.
So keep holding them and if possible try to buy more lower and keep accumulating so that the profits can gradually increase in the long run.

Just keep holding and controlling your emotions; that's why they've been holding until now. Your emotions will really trigger you to panic sell. That is why if you can control your emotions by not constantly looking at the price or just staying away from the news of bitcoin (not altcoins, only bitcoin), you will not keep thinking about it as it can trigger you. It is like how you really survive in winter by trying to hibernate, learn, or divert your attention to others.

I understand how you feel because I am also a newbie and was scared when I first saw the collapse of projects and bitcoin lost 80% of its value, it was really terrible and terrible. You need the hope? I am giving a simple example just go to the bitcoin price tracking chart and set the time frame to all time then you will know why people are saying keep holding your bitcoin.

Every cycle bring new experience to the traders as well as investors so even if someone is experienced in investment they have to hold their patience when their assets price lose its value and if it has potential then don't hesitate to hold but remember this may not work with shitcoins.

While you are right for one part, there is a massive difference between cryto and stocks. While some stocks are as volatile as crypto, you got a lot of stocks (like Johnson and Johnson) that are more defensive and will not fall as much in a bear market. The most difficult part in investing is choosing the good assets (which stocks, which crypto coins, ...) and also have a plan when to buy or sell them.

The terms of selling is losing must be held tightly in our trading / investing principle ... so yeah selling what's required is the wise decision during the crypto bloodbath , the rest should be kept in the wallet as long as possible till the right time coming to have you holding much more valueable , this is not the correct time to sell.

If you have one more pocket to spend , compounding is the best way to change your life once in a lifetime now.

Just HODL.
Nothing will make you feel disappointed when the next bull run has come when you're just holding. You sell at the start of the bull run and you're in profit, there's no regret and neglect on it.
Buy while you see the prices are quite low right now and you'll never know if we're going to still see it drop that much low when the next bull arrives.
Don't lose your courage, we've been there and also were scared. Reading those negative thoughts about the market, they're normal but only those that have kept their trust and instincts about bitcoin remain.

A bear market isn't the end of the world. Everyone can look the history of bitcoin and they will see we have already passed for similar situations and even worse situations since the beginning. I confess I lost my hopes in 2018 when I saw that bearish market. I even forgot bitcoin and crypto for a while, because I thought there wasn't a bright future ahead anymore, as we firstly expected in the previous years.

But then, that bearish market lasted for more 2 years, and finally we could see a new dawn coming in. Another thing is OP must be careful joining to some Ponzi schemes, like Bitcoin doubler. Because even during the bear market, scammers are everywhere, they will scam people anytime.
So, OP must be vigilant about these schemes.
Another way if you are for the long term, about checking charts from time to time, find some other things to do so you will not get bored about how the market goes sideways or dump.

  From my experience ( I'm not a good example as a trader ) even if I'm good in theory, the practice killed me. In 2013-2014 I had some BTC ( enough ) most of them from mining and many alts ( ltc which was my favorite at that time, novacoin, ) after that, got some dgb, darkcoin ( aka Dash), monero, stellar, whitecoin, and many many others. At that time I used BTC-e and Cryptsy.

Most of alts  were converted in BTC , excepting Doge which I lost when my Cryptsy account were hacked ( owned millions of doge) btw Vernon is a dumbass. I saw BTC rising from few $$ to $1050 and falling back to ~ $200 ( for me in those days it was funy). Until 2017 my potfolio and also the value off $  rised constantly  ( and not because I kept all my btc, i didn't of course) but because when I started to lose on trading, I infused more BTC ( and also ETH later) gained in ICOs. In 2017 I made the first big mistake, Selling almost all BTC at $700, I remember when everybody waited  for SEC decision ( ETF - Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, which was rejected)  Still remember that night when BTC dropped a lill' bit and then raised constantly.. I bought back at $2400 ( for the first time my BTC amount started to decrease dramatically ( that was the first sign that I'm a fool...) and so on until my BTC amount decreased 11 12 times. Trading activity should increase the amount of assets held, I found it more difficult, I was doing the opposite). At $19800, my btc amount were ~12 times less but still it worth a generous amount of dollars. Than BTC dropped (the second crypto winter has just started).. Sold everything and  I bought LSK ( 2019). Lisk droped from ~34$ to 3,4 when I jumped in.. This time I didn't sold anything..but LSK it decreased even more touching around $0.66, but it was ok.. constantly, because of DPoS consensus, I received more and more LSK (this helped me to amortize losses). Also during that period, due to the bankruptcy of the PrimalBase company, I lost few PBT ( bought them in their ICO at 1 PBT/3 BTC), probably Manheim ete everything (another dumbass).

After that, btc started to rise again and also alts. In 2021 LSK touched $12 and didn't sold ( second big mistake) .
I sold them at $3 - 3,3 and bought SandBox at $0.98 and sold them at 0.93 ( after few weeks SAND  reached $8.
From this point I've started to lose constantly.

Also I got scammed by chinesse scammers aka MechArena ( Sent a generous amount of USDT  to farming on their platform. The APR were around 1300%. The rewards were in their tokens.. few days everything was fine.. When I've tried to withdraw the entire amount of USDT, the  platform gave an error..  then I realized what was happening ( they used a proxy smart contract) The audit ( Certik) it was falsified by the scammers ... All USDT were lost and the third crypto winter had just begun.

And now I'm here, again...

In all these years, only a small amount of money (earned from crypto) I invested in something else like lands etc.. and of course in  daily expenses..
If you do not have solid knowledge in trading YOU will lose and you'll lose everything, so HODL !
If you don't have enough time to make your own research, don't buy coins/tokens just because they're "on green"
Don't be greedy !
Don't jump in pump&dump scheme ( you can lose everything just in few sec).
Educate yourself and don't repeat the mistakes, learn from them!
Be carefully of scammers ( the world is full of them )
Don't invest the money you need to living ( You'll have to sell on loss )
Don''t be too emotive ( If still you are, the trading is not for you)
If I had kept everything I had from the beginning....
The best way to survive in bear market, is to HODL ( hold your BTC or whatever you own and everything will be ok at the end )
