I don't deny that Cristiano is a great player, has had a good impact on the SPL in general, I'm a fan of him too, but I don't think he's given what he should have given to Al-Nassr. No SPL title, no ACL Elite title.
CR7's impact on the Saudi League is huge, that cannot be denied. In fact, they begged him to re-sign with Al Nassr. I'm sure many of us here follow the Arab League just because he's there and many other famous players. If CR7 had left the Saudi League, it would be a fact that they wouldn't have paid as much attention to him as they do now.

His contributions for Al Nassr and Saudi Professional League is huge in expansion to other nations including European nations that have many fans of Cristinao Ronaldo or knew him well after about two decades of his career in some biggest leagues in Europe.

When Cristiano moved to Saudi Professional League, may European people started to follow this league and Al Nassr, watch full matches or match highlights. These contributions are huge and undeniable but in Saudi Arabia only, Cristiano Ronaldo failed to make considerae changes because locals mostly don't care about football.

The Saudi League clubs are already thinking about bringing Lionel Messi and they are always ready to pay big money for Lionel Messi but Lionel Messi does not show interest every time due to which these deals are not being completed. Think for a moment if Messi comes to the Saudi League then we will be able to see the two biggest stars in the world of football in the same league and I believe if Lionel Messi comes to a club in the Saudi League then we will see many more players coming to the Saudi League then the Saudi League will become more attractive.
Lionel Messi is a GOAT and his playing style is very beautiful and entertaining so having him at any club and league is very good in general. Saudi Professional League under investment and strategies of PIF have wanted to build up their national league bigger and better. They have aimed at biggest star players like Ronaldo, Benzema, Neymar and several times tried to convince Messi joining their league.

It shows their big interests on Messi but there is a fact that times flies fast and Messi in 2025 is worse than messi in 2022 or 2023 by ageing effects. Saudi Professional League and clubs there will receive less contributing effects from Messi in 2025 than if they get him in previous years.
If we talk about the big football stars in Europe, the names of three footballers will come first and those three footballers are Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo. Two of these three big stars are already in the Saudi League, so the clubs in the Saudi League are now trying to bring Lionel Messi to Saudi Arabia. Earlier, when Lionel Messi moved to an American club, the Saudi League offered him a big amount of money so that he could come to Saudi Arabia, but Lionel Messi did not accept that offer. If Lionel Messi had accepted that offer at that time, then perhaps Lionel Messi would have received the same amount of money as Ronaldo is getting as an annual salary now.

Lionel Messi has spent almost two seasons in the American Major League, now he should come to a new league and his league should be the Saudi League. When Lionel Messi comes to the Saudi League, most football fans will undoubtedly focus on the matches of Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo.

True, no one can deny that fact. There wouldn't be nearly as much attention paid to the SPL if Cristiano hadn't arrived. But that's not the point I want to discuss. Cristiano has had an impact on the league as a whole, but he hasn't made a significant contribution to his own club (Al-Nassr). Let me ask you, have they ever won an SPL title since Cristiano arrived at Al-Nassr? I think we all know the answer, LOL.

Anyone that thinks otherwise maybe cause of dislike for him is delusional Ronaldo is a very important player for the entire Saudi pro league he really contributed to their popularity. That alone makes him so special if Al Nassr hadn't retain him it would've been a huge lose to them cause several of their rivals would be willing to sign him regardless of the wage he'll demand. Ronaldo would forever be remembered for his effort in making the SPL gain so much popularity.

It's possible he'll reject moving to SPL because Cristiano's established there but Messi doesn't have to go to Al Ahli if his family doesn't want to move. His children's going to change schools & his wife's going to have no friends so if they're happy he won't move.

It's going to be a change of life style for Messi & his family if they move to SPL. Life's different for him in Inter Miami because his kids & wife moved there. He doesn't want to move them to a new country but Al Ahli's offering a mega contract so it won't be easy to say no.
For someone like Messi who has achieved everything he needs, Saudi offer might be outrageous but if he doesn't want the contract then he would neglect the offer, sometimes players value family over contracts as long it's not adjustable to be convenient he won't accept the offer from Saudi. Messi may not consider the move to Saudi for personal reasons, he might consider continuing his football carrier in US.

To be honest the difference is made by some clubs in the Saudi Pro League investing a lot of money, meaning they have bought many European Player so we think it's because of them that this league is more popular than China's. The steps they have taken in football in an increasingly dramatic way really surprise us because they are now willing to pay a lot of money to keep a player like Ronaldo. At the moment, it seems that the Asian super club is building on their success at the moment as they have brought good performances through many Latin American players in the Club World Cup. In fact due to the popularity of this league, Al Hilal now has many Brazilian players who were able to score goals in the CWC tournament against Manchester City. Maybe it is through all these pioneering players that this SPL can become more popular.
I think there is no doubt in this verdict that the Saudi pro league is the more popular league than china. And the only reason which is very understandable is the presence of well known players from around the world. Because the Saudi pro league is playing very smartly among all the leagues. It's my personal opinion that their main goal was just to make them popular all over the world. When their popularity rises well then they will host the football world cup. Because now the saudi pro league has players which pull out the fans and viewers just by their names. So with resources the strategy to make them in use is also very important.
Right now, yes, of course Saudi Pro League is better and more popular than China's Super League. Just like 10 years ago it was the opposite. The question we should ask ourselves is where do we see the Saudi Pro League in 10 years? Saudi Arabia is going to host the 2034 World Cup, I know we are very far away but will they be able to keep interest in football even after the competition? Or is it just for advertisement and marketing? Only time will tell, it's going to be interesting to see how things will develop, that's for sure.

The people who said Cristiano is better tahn Messi know nothing about football, is not only goals, you can check super elaborate statistics and Messi is in another league compared not only with Cristiano but with the whole pack of players.

But is he gonna worth in term of money more than Cristiano..... i dont think so, we are talking about so much money already and they are gonna be head to head always.

Ronaldo signing back again is a great deal without a doubt, and it would not be possible without the right conditions. Ronaldo went back to United, and he had terrible time there with Erik Ten Hag and nobody supporting him, and Saudi league being right there with a 200 million a year offer when that happens. If he was great at United and got along and was being played all day and they were getting wins, then he wouldn't have accepted even for 200 million, so the timing was perfect.

Still, even with all of that in mind, I bet that Messi won't go there, it happened before, Al Hilal offered him more than even Ronaldo, and he still rejected, which goes to show you that he is just straight up against going to Saudi league and it is not about the money.

It's possible he'll reject moving to SPL because Cristiano's established there but Messi doesn't have to go to Al Ahli if his family doesn't want to move. His children's going to change schools & his wife's going to have no friends so if they're happy he won't move.
Yes, if both legends should play in the same League now that the comparison is very much, both players may lose focus, this is what teams are intending to do because it will raise more money for them, in a point when both teams will have to face each other and at the end of season who wins the league. But aside the comparison, it takes a lot to relocate as a player with family, lets not forget he has his child in the academy there in US. A player like Messi who has nothing to worry about aside enjoying the sports, should prioritize his family well being, his endorsement are already flying high cash for him, despite the huge offer from Saudi, he has enough to live with in his lifetime.

If the legends play for opposing teams in SPL it's going to be legendary match ppl will talk about it for years. Messi's enjoying his life in Inter Miami but they can't give mega contracts like SP & Al Ahli. He's 38 so it's his last chance if he wants SPL money he won't get another offer.

It's possible he'll reject moving to SPL because Cristiano's established there but Messi doesn't have to go to Al Ahli if his family doesn't want to move. His children's going to change schools & his wife's going to have no friends so if they're happy he won't move.

Saudi is making football an investment to increase state revenue. They are trying to become less dependent on oil and gas. I think that's the real goal, and it's a pretty smart move. Football has now become an industry that can generate significant long term profits, so it makes perfect sense for Saudi to invest in the sport. To achieve this goal, the Saudi government, through the Public Investment Fund (PIF), provides full financial support to at least four clubs, Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, Al Nassr, and Al Ahli.

Therefore, in many aspects, the Saudi Pro League is indeed superior to the Chinese Super League. Saudi Arabia investment strategy has been quite successful so far, including the recruitment of players like Ronaldo and several other former top European players. Saudi successful lobbying of FIFA to host the 2034 World Cup is further proof that China hasn't gone that far. I believe the Saudi Pro League will continue to grow over the next decade, as will the Saudi national team.

I agree with you, it is too early for Mateo Retegui to accept an offer to move to the Saudi League, even though we know that the offer could be very lucrative, like a guarantee for future savings, plus he is still relatively young. Money can buy anything, but compared to sacrificing his career in Europe, this is a decision made too hastily, with too many things to sacrifice.

I hope Mateo Retegui does not regret the decision he has made and can enjoy his time playing for Al-Qadsiah.

Well, everyone was quite surprised by Mateo Retegui's decision to join the SPL club, Al-Qadisiyah. Besides being at the peak of his career, he was also the top scorer in Serie A last season. So his decision to leave Atalanta was completely unexpected. The club seems to have agreed to this. And Fabrizio Romano also mentioned this. So it seems this transfer is indeed real.1 Well, I hope he can maintain his quality there. Because that way, he will remain reliable for the Italian national team. However, if he declines after joining the SPL club, his position as the main striker of the Italian national team will be slightly threatened.2 So I hope Mateo Retegui can continue to prove that he will not weaken and will even show his best after joining Al-Qadisiyah.

To add, it's not Ronaldo's fault for Al Nassr's failure; the culprit is the management, who didn't hire a coach who had achieved great success in different leagues, including the Saudi Arabian league. You can't expect a team to win titles just because they have the best player in the world. PSG is showing this in practice; even without Messi, Neymar, or Mbappe, they're performing much better compared to when they had these three good players.

So, Al Nassr's management needs to see PSG's case as a great concrete example that the most important thing in a team is the coach. If they hire an inexperienced coach or one who has only achieved success in one league, they won't be able to handle Al Nassr well and, as a consequence, they won't be able to achieve anything great.

In the case of Al-Nassr, a good coach could fix things well especially that they have enough funds to recruit quality players. I said quality players and not top players because names mean nothing nowadays. Whenever I see PSG success in UEFA Conference League and in the other competitions, I say a good strategy and teamwork are the key to success. Al-Nassr lacks seriously these two points.

Whenever we hear the name of AI Nassr, I don't think they can come closer and win games, we've seen quite alot coming their path and they've been outstanding, just a couple of seasons, they signed Cristiano Ronaldo but you do think they can hold on their prime players? Oh yes they can because they've the available resources. Al Nassr can crawl their way to winning games but can they actually surpass other elite teams? I don't think they can the capacity to handle these oppositions when they come around them.

Exactly. We can't blame Ronaldo due to the failure of Al Nassr in the last few seasons. It is also the mistake of the club management because they couldn't build the team with proper players. IMHO, Al Nassr only focuses to improve the attacking line, they forget to improve the quality players in the midfield and defense line. Yep, this also happened in PSG. Even if they had Mbappe-Messi-Neymar at that time, they still failed to shine in UCL because they have no proper players in the other lines. Also, the coach factor also takes the role because he is the one who applies the tactics and formation. A coach will also ensure that all players can cooperate as a solid team.

I agree that Al Nassr management needs to take a lesson from PSG case in the past. However I think it is not only about the coach, but it is also about improving all the lines of the teams. If Al Nassr only focuses on building attacking line, they probably will end up the next season with the same result.  Cheesy

Al Nassr is a team with a lot of money, and we certainly don't know what will happen next season. However, we certainly don't know how Al Nassr will fare against other elite clubs, as they have certainly prepared everything for next season. However, it won't be easy to predict how Al Nassr will fare next season, as the squad is still in question, as the transfer window is still open.

However, I'm confident that Al Nassr will do their best to win next season. With Jorge Jesus as coach, I'm sure there will be a new sensation in Al Nassr's game, and this will certainly make Al Nassr's competition with other elite teams even more exciting. I certainly hope Al Nassr can bring in better players for all lines, as several players have left, such as Jhon Duran. I hope Al Nassr can pay attention to all lines, especially defense, which is more important. Honestly, I'm curious about Al Nassr's match next season. What about you? Are you curious too?

It is certainly exciting time for Al Nassr. Because Al Nassr has much of money they are always a team to watch in transfer market and with window still open we do not know exactly what team will look like. They need to replace players who have left like Jhon Duran and it is especially important to make their defense stronger if they want to win championships and also want to compete with top teams.

New coach Jorge Jesus is big deal. He is good in his tactics and in improving teams so we can expect Al Nassr to play differently under him which will make their games more interesting. Main question is how well Al Nassr will do against these elite teams but they clearly have high ambitions and their preparation will be key. Like you I am really curious to see them play next season as their big spending and new coach and ongoing team changes make them one of most intriguing teams to follow.

I'm Italian and I'm not that surprised by Retegui's choice, and for sure I can't blame him, his decision totally makes sense: Roberto Mancini, former Italy's National team manager, found him in a mediocre Argentinian team and called him up, after that Genoa bought him and the following year he became the Serie A topscorer with Atalanta: in little over two years his life changed completely because before he was making little money, then with Atalanta he was making 1.5 mln per year and now they offered him 10-12 times more. I'm sure that he would have never thought that some day he would have earned all that money per year, it's a ridiculous amount of money for a player like him which is good but he's no star so, again, he made the right choice, it's was too much money to be turned down.
