Basically I don't know about the dispute between Nuno Santo and Karim Benzema, but if I may have an opinion, the main problem could be triggered by the pattern and system implemented by Nuno. Honestly, I don't have much information. However, if you refer to the pattern implemented by the previous coach, Nuno Santo, he often implemented a pattern that did not suit his players.
