It is true and i also agree with you on this, Saudi league seems to be better than the MLS league and even more popular. Inter Miami is not the best team in the MLS and coming to play against the top teams in Saudi Arabia and losing to them is expected and with some top European players being in the team means the MLS league is still below standards compared to the SPL.

Messi had the opportunity to join the SPL but chose to join MLS league, in my opinion it’s not the best move for him although he might have his reasons for choosing USA over Saudi but so far it has not been the best move for him.
