why people are always interested in altcoins

as we know, many people suggest investing in bitcoin because the risk is not too high.
but if we look at the market there are lots of people buying altcoins, and to be honest I also like to buy altcoins but there aren't many of them, and it's still my biggest investment in bitcoin. and to be honest even though investing in altcoins is risky but I always want to buy and the reason is because of the high pumping..
and I want to ask everyone what is your  for buying altcoins, is the reason the same as mine?

The first reason everyone trade altcoins is the profit percentage which is higher compared to Bitcoin, unless you have a high capital. Your profit depends on your capital and the price of the coins/tokens you are trading. So with a smaller capital, it is more wise to trade altcoins to gain higher profits if you are a short term trader. Altcoins may get you chances to maximize your holding of bitcoin whereas bitcoin holding will help you to maximize your USD holding.

In short, with altcoin investment you may get chances to earn more BTC but with BTC investment, we cannot earn more BTC  which might be one of the reasons why people always prefer to have altcoins in their portfolio.

Well, there is only one reason why they still risking their money for buying altcoins and that is they believe that these coins can make them rich instantly. You can really imagine earning 1000x profit because of the developers who have said it? It is really tempting as I can see and this is what happens to most newbies. And if you also have this kind of experience before there is no reason why you stop it. Might we call it gambling but can't deny that many investors gain a huge profit from hyped projects.

I don't really agree with the statement, that Bitcoin is only for a longterm investment and i also strongly disagree that altcoins are only good for a short term investment strategy. Yes it is true, that you can generate higher profits while daytrading altcoins because the price fluctuations of altcoin projects are usually significantly higher than the fluctuation of altcoin.
It is also true though, that there are already dozens of very good and strong altcoin projects out there that should still do very well in the next 5 or 10 years and that are very much suitable for a longterm hold. I think that many of those altcoin projects have a higher grow potential than Bitcoin but of course the risk is also higher here to pick the wrong project.

It may be more to their interest because of the hype so they are compelled to buy altcoins in the hope of getting very high profits based on the sweet promises from the team and their promotions. Or on the other hand, because they carry out trading activities, where altcoins prices tend to be cheaper, they can buy more altcoins. So their chance to take profits in a short short time may be high. What's more, usually people who play in futures trading also choose to do it with altcoins. Though it does have a greater risk.

It depends on the situation. In my opinion, Bitcoin or altcoins can be short-term or long-term.
If you only target small profits, you can use Bitcoin for a short-term holding. Just imagine when you bought BTC at $17k, you can get profits now since it is already $23k+. But if you target bigger profits, you can hold for a longer time, probably until the bullrun season. Well, it is also applied on altcoins, but it is for the top altcoins only.

Of course, people are brave to invest in altcoins because they know well altcoins.

Not only that people are inspired by the returns of the altcoins but at the same time they are tempted to buy alts as they are so cheap and they think they can accumulate more alts and make more profit. While this might be true but we should know that the risk involved in altcoins is way higher than in bitcoin.
The altcoin may give you 5x 10x returns but it can even go to zero. With bitcoin may may get less ROI but we know that in the long run we will never be in a loss.

The greater the risk, the higher the return. People often lose their recent judgment under the temptation of huge interests. I always think about making a big difference with a small one. This is the thinking of normal people, because the price of altcoins will be crazily raised in the early stage, so as to attract more retail investors to come in, and then carry out large-scale harvesting. It is because altcoins are way more volatile and have less liquidity than bitcoin and because of that they provide bigger opportunities for those who want to get rich (or poor) quick. Tbh trading alts or playing dice make no difference to me. Both of these actions are different colors of gambling. Just because you are trading an alt with low liquidity doesn't mean that you are an investor. No, you are still gambling.

Aside from ETH, I don't see any altcoins that could be long-term investments. So far, most altcoins have very short lifespans, and top altcoins are always replaced after every bear season. Only ETH is still the altcoin holding the 2nd position after many years.
Altcoins are not suitable for long-term investment, and I also don't think there will be any altcoin project that can grow more than bitcoin in the near future 5 years or 10 years.

What could be the reason but what you've already mentioned, there are altcoins that pumped 50 to 100% percent especially if you're an early bird or investor in their crowdfunding, but right it's very rare to find a good altcoin to invest it's like looking for a needle in a haystack, you really have to dig deep, check the developers, check the platform and check how they interact to the community, and these are just some of the parameters.

Altcoins have shades of huge hype, flash spikes, etc. it also creates momentum across the entire market.  It simply creates a different range of emotions.  It's like some people don't like roller coasters, thrill rides and vice versa.  A new emotion, excitement and huge profit.
