There should be absolutely no reason why, with our knowledge and technology, there should be any food shortages at all. But even the food we grow can be genetically modified to grow under any conditions, even in drought. So why do these shortage exist? Greed in disguise. At least it will somehow help us buy the prime commodities we need. I've tried this even though my yard is small, and at least I can pick some of the vegetables and fruits I've planted somehow.

I am a bit confused with some phrases you've made OP but yeah let me just share my thoughts based on my understanding. No doubt about the effects of climate change, war, terrorism, politics, pandemic, crisis and less  production there will surely be food shortages that happen here in this situation.

New generation kids don't care about this shortages and they mostly don't prioritize or even practice handling or maintaining production sufficiency because they were swallowed by the social media system. Old farmers sooner or later will stop producing good harvest but the problem here is that young generations don't usually follow their legacy and prefer the other way.

It's true, right? I've seen that wealthy people avoid shortages. They handle challenges better. However, what about societal effects? Shouldn't we consider communal responsibility?
