The driver championship has started to get boring already now. Perez has been really disappointing for two races and this helped Verstappen to widen the point gap with him more - 53 points. Both of Monaco GP and Spain GP can be really boring to watch most of the time indeed. Because in both races it is really not easy to overtake anyone.

The Spain GP is a little more available to do so though but it's like there is only the start straight with the help of DRS. Next time we are in Canada and I hope to see a different result or at least a satisfying competition for the win. Verstappen has 0 win in Canada so far so let's see if he will do it for the first time in his career.

Redbull is clearly the most favored car in this track,it was only bad luck for Verstappen that kept him from winning the Canadian GP but if everything goes smoothly he is going to win it.You say that drivers Championship is boring already but not only that in my opinion, also the constructors is boring as this race in Spain was an exception that we did not see both Redbulls in the podium, most likely if everything goes without incidents in Canada then both Redbulls will be on the podium.

In Spain tires ruined the race of many drivers as they were being consumed much faster than anticipated,in here I don't believe tires will play as much of a crucial role as they did in Spain so hopefully this can be somewhat a better race to watch as Spain looked a lot like Monaco.

It was a great day for Mercedes drivers. It was said that Mercedes were going to have some new updates on their car and it looks like they had in this race. Maybe Hamilton was voted for the driver of the day but I think that Russell deserved it more. Because his climb was even a tougher job. He even stayed in front of Perez which is another great work by him.

It was another horrible race weekend for Ferrari drivers. There is just a huge gap between last season and this one I mean. Maybe Ferrari didn't do very well in general last season but their start was still incredible. But now we don't even see that from them. Leclerc dealt with huge struggles and couldn't finish in a nice position.

Besides Ferrari still continue to make mistakes related to strategy. This time their tyre strategy was hard to understand. Even though Leclerc wanted softs they insisted on doing hards.
I think there are serious problems with the Ferrari. That is, as a vehicle setup, it can probably exist aerodynamically in very narrow places according to changing conditions, temperature wind. I was thinking that ferrari has a fast tool if it can actually run it in this situation. But every week all teams understand alpine especially their car better and close the gap. He can't understand his ferrari car and just as he can't, now it's going in another direction. They don't have much time left at this rate, they will go down to the 5th place. If you were 11 seconds ahead on the same track last year (he would have won if his engine hadn't exploded) this year, if you're the last one, I can't look for the problem in the pilot. By far faster than Sainz, but Ferrari is destroying Leclerc.

It is a really bad break that there is no competition in Formula 1 in a period that the interest in it has increased this much worldwide. I hope Mercedes can reach the level to be able to compete with Red Bull again next season. I have no hope for Ferrari. If I was in Leclerc's place I would search a way to reach an agreement with Mercedes or Red Bull.

^  Careful tho...  Ferrari's engineering break through is just right around the corner.  It's just a matter of hiring the right CTO.  They shouldn't have made Binotto the team principal imho.  They should've stuck with him as CTO no matter who is leading the team.  Maybe he would've stayed with the team for much longer without getting disillusioned.

Anyway Hamilton is giving hints that it's the realm of possibility that he'll be driving with the prancing horse one day...  The guy has a knack for feeling which team's car is about to improve.  Just like he did when he dropped McLaren for Merc.

I agree.Leclerc is wasting himself at Ferrari,he can be more in talks with Mercedes when Hamilton retires as I doubt he will continue that much,no matter that he is a super talented 7 times World Champion age does its thing and his reflexes cannot be compared with those of a younger driver in age with the same driving skills. This is the best for Leclerc to do as if he tries to go to Redbull I doubt he can go but in the remote event that he goes,he will be looked as a second driver anyway because Max will have always the precedence for what he has brought to this team.In Mercedes they don't do 1st and 2nd driver and they treat them equal and go and support the one which has better results in the season.

We have the Canadian GP at the weekend. Mercedes looked really fast in Spain and we saw two drivers on podium. I wonder if they can maintain their speed in the next race as well. When it comes to Aston Martin they started the season really solid. Alonso has been on podium many times since the beginning of the season. But there was some drop in their performance in the Spanish GP. Alonso and Stroll both were quite away from podium. I wonder whether they can return stronger in Canada.

By the way there have been some serious wildfires around Quebec which has affected an area of 900 thousand hectares. There has been a possibility for the race to be cancelled. But according to some news the air is breathable for now and we are likely to watch this Grand Prix.

I think that Hamilton and Mercedes has good chances in Canada Grand Prix, he was third place last year and he won previous time in 2019.
Verstappen and Red Bull are still big favorites to win the race and I think they have the fastest  formula car this year, but others are making improvements.
My only concern for this grand prix is bad weather and rain that could delay or cancel race, and mess up with tires selection in best case.

Weather seems clear in Canada on Saturday and Sunday for now. The other days are all rainy though so I also wonder if there would be any change later on. Rain makes races more interesting for me to watch because the probability of seeing more actions increases those times. Of course on tracks like Monaco it doesn't make a big impact about overtakes because the track is really tight. I hope rain doesn't cause any cancellation of course. Because right after controlling the situation about smokes coming from wildfires it wouldn't be nice to see this.

When it comes to Hamilton he has really been doing good on Canada track recently. Maybe it is very difficult for him to compete with Verstappen for the win but he might still be on podium. But his job is always going to be tough while there are many variables like Ferraris, Perez - Alonso duo and so on.

^  I like rain on some tracks, no rain for most others.  Like Spa Belgium, Suzuka Japan and Silverstone, I don't like it to rain in specifically those tracks because those are the races I look most forward to every year.  As for others, I could care less.  If it's possible, I wish it would rain in the desert.  Lol.  Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the newer tracks are mostly boring.  Rain would be welcome there.

But I think Singapore's night race would be very interesting if it rained.  It would make the ambiance more exciting.

Here's the Canadian GP schedule for anybody interested.

2023 Canadian GP Schedule
Friday, 16 June:  Practice 1  13:30 - 14:30
Friday, 16 June:  Practice 2  17:00 - 18:00
Saturday, 17 June:  Practice 3  12:30 - 13:30
Saturday, 17 June:  Qualifying  16:00 - 17:00

I'm going to try put in reeeeaaally early picks ahead of practice, and try not to touch them until main race. Could be a good strategy seeing as Canada appears to be a predictable track, and practice could be a lot of red herrings anyway.

I'm also going to throw in a bit of money on one of the underdog podium finishers, though odds are ridiculously bad for a supposed "predictable race".

I have checked the weather report in Montreal in a more detailed way and seen that there is rain expected during the whole race weekend. This might cause some surprising incidents to happen in qualifying at least maybe but we will see. It is quite hard to predict how the race would end under rain. Can Verstappen still win by a huge gap just as he did in the Monaco GP or not?

The latest race in Canada was quite competitive between Verstappen and Sainz in the last laps. Verstappen was able to win the race anyway by a slight margin like 0.993s after a late safety car. Let's see if we will see such competition again in this race as well.

It's Race Week meaning the Exclusive F1 Prediction Contest is LIVE @ Sportsbet.io 🏎️🏁 Canadian Grand Prix 🏁🏎️ Prediction Contest

Thanks for the next chance to win, it will be a rather exciting race when I look back at last year's result, where RedBull, Mercedes and Ferrari were close. Very difficult to give a "good" tip already.

Some rain would shake up the whole weekend and be good for us spectators, as you and I mentioned above, last year's race weekend in Montreal was pretty even between the top 3 teams, don't think Verstappen will be as dominant this weekend, more even. Wait and see tomorrow's practice for the tips at Superbru, maybe Alonso can surprise again.

Rain being present in such a legendary track can only make the race much more interesting to watch and for me rain being present is the only chance for all of us to see some other team except Redbull winning a race during this season. In normal conditions I highly doubt there could be some driver or some team capable of beating the Redbull absolute supremacy during the whole season so far.

Verstappen may have won the race with that slight margin last year but the Redbull dominance was not the same as this year, this year is even more dominant so we desperately need the rain to be present and not to be just like in Spain, near the track but never falling much to change the race.

Rain during the race weekend ? Say no more! This track is already very punishing towards drivers but with rain probably showing up , I think everything will be turn into chaos so I do pray rain will hit the track during race and not during qualifiers.

At this point , most of the F1 fans don't even watch F1 for Max or RedBull because that is simply boring but the race from 2nd place until 6th place is pretty open to most of the drivers.  Cool

Indeed Red Bull dominance wasn't this much big at the beginning of the season last year. Because Ferrari were really doing great in those times despite the downfall some time later. But now Ferrari couldn't even make a decent start to the season. Leclerc was able to fight for the win with Verstappen in the first times of the previous season. However now we see no other driver at other teams who can do the same.

Perez was doing good at the beginning and I wondered if we would see an in-team competition during the season. But this didn't last long either. It is mostly because of Perez's own mistakes recently.

Rain during the race weekend?
Let's hope so.  Smiley
Currently, it's looking like rain around 90% on Saturday and 50% on Sunday, so qualifying will be wet for sure.
Even if we'll get a dry race, we might have a very mixed starting grid delievering us an interesting race.
Of course, rain also during race would be even better.  Smiley

In terms of predictions it might be a difficult one if it rains during qualifying / race.
Verstappen is a good rain driver but I wouldn't underestimate Hamilton and Alonso in rain as well. One mistake in rain is enough already to crash out or a bad timed safety car due to rain and we can get a really interesting race if it rains.

We are all expecting rain during this weekend, this maybe will change a lot our positions in the prediction pool as who knows what happens in a very wet race,we can even end the race with just 8-9 cars so all of us would be getting very little points and the ones who go for bold predictions may make a good comeback here in the standings  Grin.

The cars though are very stable as we have seen through most of these races in which we saw very low number of retirements so it will only be driver errors if we see a lot of cars not finishing the race during this one in Canada.

Thought this might be the time I actually watch a race, and then Euro qualifiers come around so I know where my priorities will continue to lie this weekend Wink

Giving up looking for good odds for a podium finish for an outsider. Someone give me a quick rundown on why Bottas is no longer considered a contender -- 250/1 for a podium place. I know he's switched down to an inferior car but are the differences in machines really so huge that good drivers stand no chance? Or is it a combination of Bottas also deteriorating?
