We must have had or experienced financial regret before but if we can't change, we will only regret it without being able to turn things around for the better. And if we talk about past youth, most young people always put their ego first without thinking about what will happen to them and in the end they only regret it in the future. Maybe if someone, in this case, his parents, could guide him to think far into the future, he would be able to think that the future would change drastically and he should prepare for his future from now on.

And now, the future hasn't happened so we can still try to achieve our goals and get something we want. By working hard, our current life will change in the future.

I don't have any real regrets.

Many of my choices were suboptimal. I had more than 37,000 doge coins from faucets. At peak that could be near to $18,000. But I managed to dump all my DOGE before they were worth anything. I did crypto exchange arbitrage during its golden age but didn't put enough effort into it to translate into any real gains. I had many alt coins that I dumped, which became worth something later. There are many investment opportunities I thought long and hard about but did not pull the trigger on, which would have been big winners.

It'll always be a case of "if I had been smarter and put more effort into it, it would have been profitable".

There might always be good opportunities and good buy ins. Just as there was 20 years ago, 10 years ago, 10 months ago, 10 weeks ago. There are good opportunities right now.

Its good motivation to try to be smarter and put more motivation and effort into whatever you're doing atm.

I might only regret if I was being as complacent today, as I was being complacent when I missed out on all of these good opportunities in the past.
This describes exactly how I feel. Generally, I don't have any actual regrets either, but it has always been a case of not taking advantage when I could. Now that you mentioned it, I also had a few thousand Dogecoins; most of them were acquired through faucets and a Ponzi cloud mining platform back when it was founded. I received my second and last payment in Doge, which was approximately worth $5–10 at most, but I stupidly decided to dump it a few months later. Thus, my regrets are also mostly that I could have always handled things in a better and smarter way, which could have resulted in decent earnings nowadays.

There will always be regret. However it is what you do with it or after it that matters. Regret if dwelled upon for so long could lead to depression anxiety suicidal ideation and a whole lot of other mental health challenges that may translate into physical health challenges. Financial regrets in my opinion is one of the worst forms of regret anyone could ever have because when you compare how rich you would have been if you had taken that decision to your present financial situation it it would hurt so much that you wish you could turn back the hands of time.

It is never too late to achieve your financial goals. My suggestions for the OP is to have a 5 -10 years plan especially if you are interested in real estates. This would be your guide and focus. If you join a community of like-minded people they will also have recent information on how your town has been planned. The advantage of this is that you will have first hand information on the areas that are soon to be developed in your place. You can then go ahead and jump on the opportunity.

The total cost of that departemtn was about $100,000. Well, I did not have that much money at that time but if I borrowed some from my parents and it was not a problem. Maybe because I was too young and did not get along with my parents at the time, I did not ask for that so I refused the offer and let go of that apartment.
From OP's story, it wasn't really because they made an investment error. Also, it wasn't because they didn't have the cash per se as they could easily have borrowed from parents. However, the issue was because they couldn't stoop to conquer by making it right and then having to ask them for the cash. One thing with wrong decisions is that we don't get to know they're wrong while taking them. We only find out on hindsight how wrong we were.

Of course, everyone who has come of age will have one or two investment regrets they must've passed through. I experienced one recently where I delayed in selling off and price  went back to default. It's a painful thing to witness when you know you could've profited much from such an investment.

Everyone must have experienced the same thing as your story, that's not a big mistake because you can start over investing in bitcoin from a previous failure when you intend to buy an apartment, regarding the pattern you apply it really depends on how comfortable you are doing. Investing in bitcoins will also bring you much greater returns than buying an apartment, but most importantly do not forget to study the level of risk and fluctuations in the price of bitcoins and understand how to invest properly.

This story is the same as people who don't buy bitcoin when the price is very low, but do we have to regret it and don't do something to start taking part in bitcoin, Hasn't experience taught us how valuable bitcoin is?

Life is about choices and we all are on the path led by our choices. It's not easy to talk about life regrets in general because we are/were in quite different situations. To make this thread easier, we just focus on the regrets in finances. I believe many of them can be lessons to learn from. I'll start first. Over a decade ago, I was living in a mega city of my country. At the time, the city was already a metropolitan place where you can meet all people over the world. Of course, the land was scarce and the price of housing was pretty high, nomal people could not afford to buy an apartment, let alone a house. However, one friend of mine was taking to a suburban area for an apartment, super nice but the neighborhood was not fully developed yet. The total cost of that departemtn was about $100,000. Well, I did not have that much money at that time but if I borrowed some from my parents and it was not a problem. Maybe because I was too young and did not get along with my parents at the time, I did not ask for that so I refused the offer and let go of that apartment. A few years later, the suburban area became part of the CBD and the housing price was going up insanely. Today, that apartment I missed is worth at least $1.2 million. Oh my... I hate myself for not buying that apartment every time I think about it.
There is no point in regretting missing an opportunity like that as you are only doing so now that those apartments have increased in value so much, this is similar to all of those that regret not buying bitcoin when it was worth just a few dollars, the reality is they never had any chance to buy bitcoin at that price and they are just deceiving themselves, besides there are always opportunities to make money, you just need to look for them and then be willing to take advantage of them.

When we do have that kind of perspective about future developments and seeing that it does have potential but you dont have the capacity on producing such amounts due to being young or still on the time that you cant really be able have that money which means that even you do see opportunities but you dont have the finances then you would really be just simply missing out those chances on making yourself that getting
rich. This is why its really just that sad and really regretful if you do see a particular spot on things and ending up on being too valuable on the time comes.
Well, lets just accept that fact and reality.

There are things in life that we missed and keep on regretting or doing some foolish things and regret it.  What important is that we learned from our mistakes.  My regret was spending money too much on what I think is a close friend, I supported his business and even lend him huge amount of money to get back up.  It was good until the time when I wanted to get the money that I lend him.  He was actually doing good now but don't have any intention to pay me back and even put me on ignore on messenger when I happen to ask him about the money since I was needing them to pay for the title of the property I completely paid a year ago.

Lesson learned here, never trust anyone too much.  It is good to help others but make sure that they deserved to be helped.

In life, there are many things to regret thousands of times, not only financially. If we were going to only talk about finance, we just need to talk about investing in Bitcoin, I believe we have hundreds of regrets about our decision, so we do not need to go any further. We are just a mortal that is not a god, so we cannot be perfect and remember the past, and the wrong decisions will only make us more regretful. Instead of thinking about it, try not to make mistakes in the future.
Yes, each of us have this. You are not normal if you don't feel this or you are not a human being at all. Regrets can be limited if we already have an experience and are aware next time if what to do better. Regrets are painful if you over think them.

This is why its not recommended by the experts but we are only advised to let go of them and live on the present situation because this was the only thing that you can control so far. We that are involved in Bitcoin have a Bitcoin regrets and the one regret that all of us have in common is that we do not believe in BTC at first but it wasn't too late yet. Many of us have learned from it and are now holding a lot of BTC on their bags.

Today, that apartment I missed is worth at least $1.2 million. Oh my... I hate myself for not buying that apartment every time I think about it.

Don't regret it. You had no money at that time and you felt bed begging your parents for it.

I know a lot about it because my father is wealthy but he wants everyone to literally beg and thank him. He's a narcissist so one time when I wanted some money from him he asked me to ask him nicely like "my dear, most generous father, I would really appreciate if you gave me the money" and then I'd have to kiss his hand. I'm not joking here. I didn't do it and after some time he sent me the money anyway but it took like 2 years Cheesy

The only thing I regret in life is not buying more bitcoin when I had the chance.

It's not a strange thing that happens when we are teenagers where there are many silly things we do just for ego or to appear more luxurious than other friends, this is none other than because there has been no progress in the mindset to look at the future . Regret always comes when we are married or enter a mature age in our lives. The role of parents is very influential on independence or providing good principles on how to manage money for their children before they enter the ripe age to have a family.

Carelessness at an early age can be a bad reference point in the future. well, it must be realized early on in building a more meaningful life history without any selfish waste.

I do not have many regrets when comes to money, mostly because I am just getting to save a little bit of money.
The only thing I can think of right now is the fact I had the chance to learn about Bitcoin back in 2014 and eventually buy some coins, but I did not. I guess it was because I was too young to worry about learning of mining or cryptography, hopefully I won't accumulate more regrets as years continue to pass.

Today, that apartment I missed is worth at least $1.2 million. Oh my... I hate myself for not buying that apartment every time I think about it.
As humans, we are not immune to errors and mistakes, but what matters is how we learn and make corrections, though this awareness comes late most times that even after realizing our mistakes, it's hard to make corrections, which leaves us in regrets almost all the days of our lives, depending on how big the opportunity we missed is.

I have friend who have a similar story as yours, I personally have a different story which is really more regretful than yours, I've discussed this several times on this forum, really can not go into details again as it really breaks my heart each time I discuss this matter, but all I can say for now is, let's learn and never repeat our mistakes.

-snip- It's not easy to talk about life regrets in general because we are/were in quite different situations. To make this thread easier, we just focus on the regrets in finances. I believe many of them can be lessons to learn from. -snip-
I think almost everyone has regrets at some point in their life, especially when it comes to finances. Not buying or selling here or there or investing here or not investing there. Something like that just happens in life and you have to learn to deal with it. As the saying goes, you're always smarter afterwards.

As in your case with the apartment. You may regret your decision today, but who knows what might have happened if you had bought it. Maybe then something bad would have happened and you would regret the purchase.

Therefore, you have to see everything a little more relaxed and should not regret such decisions.  Wink

Most of us probably have the same regrets: not knowing bitcoin that early and taking advantage of the cheap price. Though personally I don't think that that in itself pose so much of a regret. At the time, we didn't know much about bitcoin. We just had the time to learn it but we never really had a concrete idea of what it was. To each his own, I guess. If this puts you in a feeling of regret, it's because you choose to because you thought you could have done it even without knowing about it fully at the time.

Regrets are always there where money is involved. Personally, I regret buying the two apartments I bought in 2021 when Bitcoin reached its ATH. The reason why I regret it is that real estate prices have been decreasing since the beginning of 2022, while I could have bought Bitcoin at this price level or lower with the money I used to buy the apartments. However, I should have done more financial analysis before buying it.

I don't have any big regrets. There are small situational things, such as wasting a few hours on something you knew wouldn't work out or not walking away from a conversation you know isn't leading anywhere productive earlier. Those are the small things I regret, but not for long because I simply try to learn from them for the future and move on. As for big things, I thankfully have nothing to regret. I am sorry you didn't get that apartment, but not borrowing money when you're young and when it might not work out, as well as not borrowing from people with whom you have a complicated relationship which is boung to get harder because them giving you money will change the power dynamics is a reasonable decision. Also, you now know that an area can become well-developed and an apartment can rise in price pretty fast. Lessons learned, moving on is what I think is productive here. People similarly often regret they didn't invest in Bitcoin when they heard of it and it was way cheaper than it currently is. It's a typical regret, but since we can't change the past, dwelling on regrets is merely spoiling the present.

Thanks for your understanding. Some people see this thread as a complaint which is not at all, only a few people like you really get my point. I really like you saying " ...giving you money will change the power dynamics..." which is absolutely true. Too much money involved in close relationships will be more likely to damage the relationships. I have learned many lessons from my regrets and never complained about anything or anyone. It is those experiences that shape and educate me to be a better version.

Yes, I had experienced such financial regrets that made me to make up my mind to work hard, so that I will have enough money and investments all over my country so that I will not encounter such challenges in my life.  If you work hard and save more money like what some of the wealthy men and women are doing in my country to maintain their wealth , I believe you can also become one of them if you can plan well by investing in Bitcoin and other business. Many people experienced financial regrets that made them to be serious in all they are doing in life, to ensure they get the right results that will make them not to experience such financial regrets again.

Financial regrets is one thing a man should try and avoide in life. Years back, i worked in a company where i earned $75, then i never thought of investing or saving for a rainy day. I was busy spending money on unnecessary things like cloths, shoes, even when i have them more in the wordrobe. Going to clubs and  spending more money on beautiful women. At some point when the went bankrupt, some of their staff were sacked andbi was among those that were disengaged. That was when my eyes open and i realised my mistakes, it was so hard for me to survive. And that was my biggest financial regrets.

Oh, the woes of regret! We all carry them, do we not? Whether it's the missed opportunity of investing in Bitcoin or declining the job that could have turned our lives around, we all experience those "what-if" moments. But, truth be told, regrets are an inevitable part of life. We cannot always make the correct choices, and that is alright. After all, "to err is human, to forgive divine." So, instead of ruminating over what could have been, let us concentrate on the present and what it has to offer. In your instance, it is understandable why not purchasing the flat might make you regretful. But what good is it to brood over it? We cannot reverse time and alter the past, so let us look forward to what the future may hold. Maybe something even more excellent is just around the bend!
