Why do people go into gambling?
I asked this question here because I can't get the answer.
However, in my observation, I found out that most people go into gambling because they think that's the easiest way to make big money.
Please is it true?

I engaged in gambling to earn extra income though I am not expecting to become rich through it and my point of interest is soccer betting because I always analyze soccer matches for fun thus I put my analysis into use by placing some bet in soccer matches, however I will never play a bet with a very huge amount of money in a bid to win massively thus I only play a bet with the money I can afford to lose  bearing in mind that gambling is very risky and there isn't any sure bet anywhere, however with 2 or 3 games accumulator a gambler can earn decent profits.

In gambling it is not certain that you can make a lot of money unless you are the luckiest person in the world. But I think there are many reasons why people gamble, maybe making money is one of them but they come because they are interested in what they like. For example, I really like football matches and always stay up to date with news about the club to the players, so I would prefer to bet on football to make money. Have I lost? Once upon a time, everyone must experience it and it is a part of gambling that it is impossible for most people to avoid. But as long as it's fun it doesn't matter, as long as it doesn't harm others.

I don't think money from gambling is a passive income. But why we gamble is not to wonder anymore. You don't play just for some fun anymore when you grow older, you don't wanna waste time without gaining. You wanna make money at the same time.

It the more even a reason to gamble when you don't have money and the rich gamble also because they see they can make money. They even cheat. Money is the motivation for all these. For crypto users, its part of thier stacking satoshis I guess while they also invest in BTC.

Exactly! You can't just ask that kind of question because although it's a common question, that doesn't mean that you can have a common answer in response to that. There's a lot of factors why people are gambling, some are desperate enough because gambling is the easiest way and fastest way to have money as long as you're that lucky. There are some people who are seeking entertainment and money at the same time, and then there are some who gambles and bet for a living.

Yes, it’s true since we all see and heard from news articles some gamblers who made it big and earn fortune in gambling. But if you can’t be lucky enough, yet you still chase for bigger profits and continue to bet with huge amount, then you’re only gambling to lose your money and not to win from it. However, some also gamble for fun, but I think it’s more fun and satisfying if gamblers actually experience both entertainment and profits when they gamble.

I don't think money from gambling is a passive income. But why we gamble is not to wonder anymore. You don't play just for some fun anymore when you grow older, you don't wanna waste time without gaining. You wanna make money at the same time.

At a point in reading the first line of your reply I thought you have a divergence opinion to what I mentioned earlier and when you say we don't gamble for passive income, that may be right anyways because gambling doesn't guarantee a steady income, and at they not be taken as a stable way of income that is why gambling can't be taken as a career of the job unless to the addicts who can't stake away from gambling since they're chasing the winning to either recover previous lose or trying to make more money in the process.

On the other hand, gambling for profit is one of the stupidest things you could do to yourself, especially if you don't really have what it takes to go pro. When you gamble for profit, you tunnel vision on one thing: to win and get money, and with gambling's nature always leaning towards profiting the house, these people lose more than they earn, which in turn creates a cycle that ultimately drains them of all the energy, motivation, and money that they have.

Gambling activities are only for fun when we have free time from the main job, so I agree with that statement because they don't gamble every day and don't aim to get passive income in gambling.

Positioning gambling to generate passive income is very inappropriate because the ratio of loses in gambling is very high, whether slot gambling or sports betting, unless you only target low passive profits and stop gambling after the daily passive profit is achieved, but it is difficult to control yourself if you want to get passive income from gambling because you will be betting above the limit funds and the risk of your gambling addiction will increase so that it will be difficult to recover.

In our present world most people believe that to make more money by using money to investment and gambling is seen as a fast way of investment and getting quick returns depending on amount each gambler invested ,gambling to is a different world where someone can go in a casino house with a $100  coming out with mega money so that makes many people feels that gambling is the quick and fast way to make mega money which most times on the process of the game will lose all invested money but still believes that another game will his/her peak points.

There's no single answer to this that anyone can give you. Some people might get introduced to a casino when they are having fun on a night out with a group of friends. I think that for almost everyone it is the same when they play for the first time that they want to see whether they can conduct their analysis and are smarter than the bookmakers. That is how it started for me when I gambled for the very first time. I put some effort into coming up with my bets and then thought I got it. It was actually the first time that I learnt how much coincidence is involved in predicting outcomes.

Other will have a long one but after that will experience a long losing one. It could be your case and it would be a kind of survivorship bias. When results of one sport are less predictable, odds on favorites increase and odds on underdogs decrease, so you won't make less (or much) money because of that at the end.

It is the easiest to earn money if you are lucky and the easiest to lose money if your unlucky.  So whether you can make big money depends on your luck.

We have different reasons but one common reason why people gamble is because of the hope of winning and earning easier. People play gambling because of many reasons, but there are 2 common reasons (for entertainment and for earning money).
Some people gamble because they are fun with gambling games. They want to spend time and money because it gives people entertainment. The games make them forget about their workloads and the bad things happening in their life. While other people have the intention to collect money by gambling. There are some triggers that cause people to get into gambling.
but the most triggers may because:
- Advertisements in the online flyers with very interesting jackpots, bonus, or winning probability so people will expect highly about earning money so easily like in the advertisement. And then, they are getting into gambling platforms, get their first winning money, and then becoming curious and curious for the second and all time. if someone is not able to control themselves in gambling, they will be probably getting into addiction and this is bad enough \\. But for someone who is able to manage themselves, learn much about gambling, and also control emotions, they may be able to earn more money wisely.
- Affiliate programs are done by popular influencers. this is also very common happening and many people will also be interested in gambling because they know the influencer, trust them, and then follow their gambling activity.

It could be the easiest way to be an instant millionaire if you are lucky enough to gamble and ends in fortune. But let’s face the reality, this is very rare to happen as most of the gamblers gamble only to lose their money and leave gambling casinos with an empty pocket. Although others would say that they only gamble for entertainment, but actually I find it more odd as I’ve known a lot of gamblers spending money since they also want to chase some profits more than entertainment alone.

When I read this I laughed out loud because I remember when I begin to gamble some years ago, I can accumulate more than 10 to 30 matches at times because I want to win huge thousand of dollars with just a small amount of money, when I stake the games, I will be very happy as if I have won it, but when the matches begin, I will see the reality again that I am deceiving myself.

I also have similar feelings back then when I thought gambling to be a roller coaster of luck and winning based on odds, so I always accumulated multiple odds and so many games just to increase my amount on winning from my small amount, sometimes with a 100 bulk my potential winnings will accumulate into millions,  but due to the numbers of matches I need to sellect, my chances of winning are almost at 0 per cent since not all team will win the match and even sometime more than two clubs will cut the tickets before it get to the middle of the ticket.

People gamble to win and earn big, that’s the most possible reason why most gamblers spend their money and risks in gambling. They could be lucky enough and gain fortune, or they could end up losing all their funds and leave gambling house so badly. But I think there are also quite gamblers who really go there to entertain themselves, regardless if they win or lose in the process, which I also think much better as gambling is losing money actually.
