Is ETH the King of Altcoins ?

ETH (Ethereum) is one of the most popular and influential cryptocurrency projects in the world. It is a platform for creating decentralized applications and smart contracts, and therefore has a large community of developers and users.
However, it cannot be said that ETH is the "king of altcoins". Although ETH is one of the leading projects, there are many other cryptocurrencies that also have a lot of popularity and influence in the cryptocurrency market.

If we only focus on altcoins, ETH is the most successful smart contract platform that owns the largest base of fans compared to other altcoins. Not the "King of Altcoins", but rather the "King of Tokens". We can also call ETH the "King of NFTs", since it's the leading platform for digital collectibles and art. Market cap tells us nothing about the coin, other than its valuation in Fiat relative to its circulating supply. What really determines how successful a project is, it's mainstream demand and active development. ETH is one of the most active (if not the most active) smart contract platforms in the world in terms of development and innovation, so it has a huge advantage over its competitors. Not to mention, it was the first coin to bring Web 3.0 to the world. It may have turned into a centralized PoS coin, but it's still a better option than Solana or BNB (which are far more centralized).

I believe there's room for improvement, as developers work on ways to preserve the network's decentralization and censorship-resistance. Upcoming upgrades will make ETH a "force to reckon with". Who knows if it lives alongside BTC for generations? Just my opinion

First ETH was hacked, second it was the 2nd actualization going thru turning less decentralized as before.
If there is a second on to bitcoin it should be litecoin. Similar structure just faster, and not as expensive to pass it on.

I think it’s been pretty clear that ETH has reigned supreme over altcoins for some time now. However, the decision to move to PoS from PoW took away their miner support and left ETH as not being any more hardened than other altcoins. Some, like Polygon are even more advance while being cheaper and handling more volume. ETH may continue to be the most valuable altcoin, but only because it’s holders are rich enough to keep it that way.

It does not really matter what ETH is called, and what matters is what it is. You have brought up this excellent point that ETH is the first coin to bring Web3 to the world. I understand your concern about its changing (might become centralized as others such as BNB), but can we see this issue from a different perspective ? Even if ETH becomes a centralized coin/platform/blockchain, as long as the funds are safe, does the nature of ETH really matter ? Decentralization is an ultimate goal that everyone wants to achieve but it takes a long time and needs countless technological advancements. I support every steady move and progress but go against any progressive thing in any fancy name. Just my thought. No big deal.

of course I agree with your argument if until whenever ETH is the king of altcoin and nothing can replace it, because ETH is the pioneer of Blockchain ecosystem, so there is no need to doubt if ETH is the king of altcoin, therefore I always add ETH in my portfolio every time I have money, because I'm sure if the price of ETH will definitely increase very high and can give me a lot of profit.

Many of the most popular projects on the Ethereum blockchain can also be found on Binance Smart Chain, but even if you can replicate anything on ETH on other blockchains it has not been enough to dethrone it. The position of Ethereum coin is after Bitcoin. The position of Ethereum can never be taken over by any other coin. Also, it is expected that the popularity will last forever. But after Ethereum, I will support bnb coin. bnb is becoming more popular day by day.  Hopefully these coins that are there will be after Bitcoin, like all other coins, they will become more popular and we will have to wait for a few more years.

Of course the Ethereum coin is the king among alt coins.  The most traded volume is the Ethereum coin and massive investors have invested in the Ethereum platform. Next to bitcoin is ethereum coin as the trading volume today is 410 million dollar trading volume. That's why Ethereum is called the king of the alt section. I myself am an investor because the price is always up and down, trading is possible to make huge income in this Ethereum platform.

Well said. What's keeping ETH afloat are none other than whales. There's a lot of money invested into this cryptocurrency, anyways. It may have turned into a PoS "shitcoin", but it's still a better option than BNB or Solana. No other altcoin comes close to ETH in terms of user acceptance and market demand. Developers continue to build on ETH despite the high gas fees and slow transaction confirmation times. I think it will grow bigger as new projects join the network.

Don't expect ETH to lose market dominance anytime soon, especially when it has first mover advantage. It's like saying BTC will be replaced by a rival cryptocurrency with "better features". Who knows if ETH gets to outlive most altcoins in the future? Just my thoughts

true, in recent years no one has been able to unseat ETH as the king of altcoins. if you look at the market cap of all altcoins it seems very difficult to pass ETH, even BNB which is predicted to be able to beat ETH has a market cap far below ETH.

Then you have to realize that not the fees that make ETH down but the use-case of the said project that makes people believe and think about the better future of this coin despite the market competition. As we can see, a lot of projects are similar to ETH, and so many platforms but fortunately, ETH is able to sustain itself and win the competition. Huge fees really don't matter because what most important is that we are investing in the right project, a project that is really can be trusted, and the project created plays a big role in the market development.

I also think so, even I don't want to miss ETH to be in the list of assets that I have. ETH has a very large base, and even since its inception it has been predicted to be a successful altcoin, and we can see that now, with their staying at the top of the cryptocurrency list. Not even arbitrary, they were also questioned whether they could become bigger than bitcoin or not. if only their fee aren't that high, then it'd be perfect but I guess it gives chance for L2 to thrive after all had ethereum got their fee problem solved surely L2 will be of no use. Yeah, the fees that are happening on ETH's network is crazy high. I can say that it's still the king of altcoins but if this continues, we don't know until when majority of the users jump into another network have continue with those cheap fees and transactions like maybe in tron, matic or any other networks that has been so cheap with their fees. If Bitcoin is king, then Ethereum is queen. Maybe the language is exactly that.
Because Eth is present faster than other smart contracts, of course Eth adoption is more than others. Let's say BSC currently has more dominant users compared to Ethereum because transaction fees are much cheaper. Besides that, polygon will also get a warm welcome for many current crypto users.
