BT made it clear he was not keeping the pool up to date and maintenance had fallen of the deep end. Go re-read the ARS thread, the email you recieved was notice that he was closing the site and hosting down, the pool hasn't had an operator in quiet some time. SMPPS pays as long as there is a positive pool buffer, it never became positive he owes you nothing. You should feel cheated by yourself, if anything, because you were either too lazy/bullheaded to move on or you were too optimistic that BT's personal issues were going to be resolved and he would come back.

I will state again since you seemed to have missed it, closing the pool when miners are unpaid is morally ambiguous.

You are acting as if I am not going to pay the pool because of ARS's actions. I really think you need to reread what has been said in this thread.

He paid out everything he had, even if it meant not everyone got 100% of what they were owed.  Its EXACTLY the same as what you're doing.. you're paying out everything you have and if there's not enough to go around, tough luck.

I said nothing to the affect that you would not pay your miners because of BT closing ARSBitcoin. As an operator of a PPS platform mining pool, I believe it is required of you to pay out all shares as you have taken any buffer for yourself and have agreed by offering PPS to take on all risk of variance for yourself with the hopes of making profits off quick blocks. As to SMPPS and BurningToad, you should read pg 16-17 of Meni's Analysis of Bitcoin Pooled Mining Reward Systems, published Nov. 17, 2011.

Furthermore, it is very rude to say BurningToad morally ambiguous when he had stated;
I've been having a number of personal issues.  One of which has affected my ability to be very social or responsive.
especially given the fact that he stated this when the pool had a 800+ BTC positive buffer. You knew and understood, or had the information available but ignored it, the dangers associated with mining at a SMPPS pool.

You are correct, context is my friend. So are semantics as you so eloquently put it.

People without personal issues are not people. Because he is a person that does not give him the ability to escape morality, rather he is bound by it.
You don't know the circumstances of his leave of absence and reason for pool shutdown. He could very well have cancer, I'd say fuck it too.

Yes there were dangers, and this is why I replied to a post warning about the dangers of mining at pools. Read the post that I replied to, I understand you fell for what Giga said about me avoiding responsibility but you should reread the thread and try to figure this out for yourself. Context is your friend.

Good luck.
You stated BurningToad owed you something. This is not the case completely. Remember context is my friend.
Quote from: BurningToad email regarding the closing of ARSBitcoin.com
If you still have a "current balance" at ArsBitcoin, please go to http://arsbitcoin.com to claim your balance sometime in the next 30 days.  After that, I will bring the site down, but will hold any unclaimed bitcoins for another 30 days in case someone misses the window.  Once this final window has passed, I will consider any leftover coins a donation to help cover server costs, which because of my neglect have still been fairly high despite no mining.

As for the unpaid SMPPS buffer, there isn't much I can do about it.  This means that "Unpaid work" will not get paid at this point.  Even if I turned mining back on, there is no saying whether the buffer would go up or down.  I also do not have the 900ish bitcoins to pay out of my own pocket (as costs are already a problem.)  I hope you can understand the SMPPS payment model always had this possibility.
Context of message:
In the left panel on ARSBitcoin.com there is "Unpaid Work" & "Current Balance". If you have mined coins from positive buffer or PPPS from negative buffer (Current Balance), you are welcome to come and claim your coins. Unpaid negative SMPPS buffer (Unpaid Work) will not be paid. There will be no future blocks to pay for unpaid work, the risk of mining SMPPS.

If you knew of the dangers and explained it, why are you even bringing that up? Because this is what you do.
Why are you questioning BT's morals when you knew this was a risk but continued to mine there anyway?

Every time something goes wrong for you, you attempt to drag someone else's name though the mud. You need to stop doing this.

BTW I use person in the way the common people will use it daily. Person comes from Greek and means "a mask", and a "person" in the USA was a way to make a "sovereign" have to follow state and federal laws. To state it more clearly a "person" is your corporate identity. If the people knew the significances of this the USA would be a very different place.

As for this, are you serious? I do believe "common people" use words as currently defined by most recent issues of dictionaries.
Person: Human, Individual
Owe: To be under obligation to pay or repay in return for something received

It worked for shakaru and others for so long I thought it was the appropriate excuse here.  The equivalent of force manure, as it were.
So contracts are going to have to have a shit clause now too?

I wasn't trolling. You seemed to have trolled your own thread, there was no need for you to bring up BurningToad in the midst of your own issues.

EDITED

My apologies, that was rude.
Seriously though, stop bringing others up when you have problems.

Thanks.

Did you receive my email? Seems queer as there's no sign of your email in my spam folder.

I do not have access to the e-mails. I will get them all in 2 weeks. All I do is deal with the public and pay money.
I hope we'll have a little time then to resubmit if some e-mails happen to have been lost...

They are not lost and I checked with the guy managing them that we are getting the emails. I do not have access to them yet but I will when I need to sort everything out to pay everyone out. Do not worry Smiley

Approaching 2 weeks in 3 days. Everything on track for doing the payouts?
