In my society, most people used to say, who knows the future like who knows when will death come, and why struggle to store piles of cash when you will not be there to get the benefit of that? That's the main reason for not preparing for life when they get old. As you mentioned, my uncle is in his fifties and my father is too, from the last 2 to 3 years I also trying to find work and do whatever job i can do in my part-time as I am a student too. As offspring, we should worry about our parents like even if we are able to meet our education expenses on our own then this will also support our parents. Because I have faced that.

On BTT I make money and meet my educational expenses on my own sometime I gave money to my parent too for home buying. The point is as a child we should depend on our parents and have to make efforts to face our expenses on our own. As your mentioned scenario about a dad sending his daughter to foreign studies always get good results when that daughter will succeed in the fields of life and will support their parents. That's the only hope, which keeps them supported and alive.

I disagree with the "It doesn't matter how much you're making today or how comfortable you're." Of course it matters. Enjoying and being comfortable in the present and preparing for the future are not mutually exclusive. Enjoying today does not necessarily mean that you'll disregard your future. What I learned in order to balance life is to set realistic goals that align with my long-term goals. I learned what to prioritize so I wont spend my effort to unnecessary things and I make sure to allocate funds for things that bring me joy such as my hobbies or travel. It is important to enjoy the process of working towards your goals and celebrate small milestones and accomplishments along the way.

But not all youth can do  this, so they learned to compromise. That's when your thought of "what matters is will you be able to keep that lifestyle when you're old and can't do manual labours anymore" enters. They are forced to live a life not enjoying their present because they have to prepare for a good future and make sure that their next generation wont suffer the same, that they'll be able to enjoy.

I'm not really sure who's the wrong in this situation and who should I blame, but few things in order to make you survive and doesn't suffer financial problem are:

1. Make sure you don't save your money, but invest on few commodities e.g. Bitcoin, gold, stock, real estate etc.
2. Have a small business in your home, it's better if you have an autopilot business where you don't need to work anymore.
3. Teach your children how to use money in a correctly way, don't overspend and use it for luxury lifestyle.

When you're still 25-40 years old, it might be the peak of your career, don't think you can work until you're death because an old people can't compete with fresh graduate young people.

You have to try and invest instead of just saving. Money saved would be used for something else and it would be gone. While you're still working have an investment. It may not look like much because you earn small and therefore you'll invest small but it will give you confidence to be able to make bigger investment as you grow.
I know people who are retired today and are doing okay, despite how depressing the economy is, they're doing okay while their colleague are now poor.

Last week, I met one of my uncles-in-law who has been a sailor for many years. In the past decade, he has been out of town and travelling all over the world to make a living. I like this, Saving paper money will only waste time in collecting it because in the future it will be worthless because it is eaten by the cruelty of inflation, money must work to help us if it is only piled up then it will become a pile of newspapers that you sell at low prices oan someday.

However, sometimes young people have beautiful plans for themselves but government doesn't really provide environment for proper economic growth. To plan financial stability for the old age, it doesn't exclude having capital and government can go far in supporting the youth by providing access to interest free loan, at least that will help. As a fresh graduate from college, there should be some financial support to start with and it appears that those kind of support existed in the past because back in the past there were availability of social funds, scholarships, instant employment after school etc but those benefit don't exist these days giving rise to high level of unemployment. I think the young people then were better off than young people now because they can financially plan there old age because of access to support that was available then but not now.
