You  only live once, so enjoy life. I'm 81 in June, and I've moved into a converted van. I have no money worries, and I can eat steak and salmon when I want to. I talk to people living in houses who sit under blankets because they can't afford heating, and complain because the cost of bread has gone up. Just make sure you are healthy, and can enjoy good food and sunshine in a stress free environment. Don't get into debt. If you can't afford it, don't buy it.

Your lifestyle may not seem appropriate to most of us at our current age, but I am sure that we all wish to reach that stage of serenity where you can dispense with most of the luxuries of life and suffice with a little good health and some friends in the neighborhood. I still believe that living with a family that provides part of its efforts to help the elderly members is the best that anyone can get, but unfortunately this depends on fate, since we do not all live in families. It does not matter whether you are sick or healthy, as much as it is important that there are people near you.

I remember the sentence "When you are rich then think if destiny changes you will be poor", I have changed the pattern of economic management in the last few years to save for old age because we will not get the same income every month and we can even lose our jobs at any time and there is no income, for example during the last pandemic many people lost their jobs due to economic difficulties companies, people without savings would find it difficult to buy food needs and some hoped for assistance from the government. I have no idea if there is any correlation between being rich and planning for the future but most rich people in my big family are very frugal and they always plan for the future. They don't complain about "live in the present", "enjoy the moment"  because they all have clear goal of what kind of life they are envisioning and how to get it. Exactly mate and in other words, we shouldn't put all our eggs in on basket and this has been one of my greatest agenda while preaching the gospel of saving.
Most times put all their hopes and efforts in just one channel and at the end of the day get so disappointed even to the point of commiting suicide and I've seen a case when a lady was seriously preaching against savings, not just because saving is bad but we should also know that everything in life has both good and it's bad  area and after some questioning, it was discovered that her husband died commiting suicide after he lost everything had after investing in cryptocurrency, Bitcoin precisely, hence people should know how to diversify their savings and also do a proper research before doing any research.

This thread reminds me a situation which has become very common here in my country, unfortunately.
Nowadays, most elderly here basically depend on their family to continue to live, since the situation with our economy and the national currency destroyed their income and their social security which they accumulated during their whole life.

Their adult children are those in charge or provide them food, medicine and pay for their medical expenses, otherwise, they would starve to death or die from some completely treatable illness, like high blood sugar or high blood pressure.

Unfortunately, there are elderly who were not so lucky to have a family that cared about them enough to pay for them to continue to live in a proper manner. Those choose to commit suicide or just wait for their deaths quietly. It is a cruel destiny for several people here.
