With release dates for these cards being official and right around the corner, what do you think will be the best chance we have at getting one right away for retail? I’ve never had luck getting a gpu right when they were released, so any advice or pointing in the right direction would be very much appreciated.

As more launch dates are added to the schedule, the second half of January is shaping up to be busy for both reviewers and gamers deciding which models to purchase.

NVIDIA confirms limited stock at RTX 50 launch

One might lose count of how many sources, retailers, distributors, board partners, and people familiar with the supply chain have mentioned that NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 launch stock is limited. Meanwhile, NVIDIA has remained silent about the situation and hasn’t officially addressed it with reviewers either.

Finally, just a day before the RTX 5080 review embargo lifts, NVIDIA has admitted that there is an issue with RTX 50 stock. What they describe as “significant demand” is simply a result of limited supply at the launch date they chose. The sales embargo is entirely controlled by NVIDIA, so it’s not as though anyone forced the company to proceed with the launch in two days.

Inno3D RTX 5090 Frostbite heats its power cable to 150°C
The good news is that nothing has melted, and everyone is safe. Thermal imaging cameras aren’t cheap, so we rarely see such images from random gamers. This time, we have a photo from Andreas Schilling (HardwareLuxx), who is currently conducting tests of the Inno3D RTX 5090 Frostbite, a water-blocked high-end graphics card. This card comes without any active cooler; it only has a water block that has to be connected to an existing loop.

The temperature of the GPU and memory isn’t the issue here, though. It’s the power cable on the power supply side, which has heated up to 150°C, as reported. As shown in the image above, the temperature at the time the picture was taken was 117.1°C.

Surprisingly, despite such a high temperature, the power supply cable did not deform or cause any problems. The PSU is a BeQuiet Dark Power 13, a modern ATX 3.1 power supply offering full support for the newest 12V-2×6 cables.

As it turns out, last week’s leaked pricing was accurate. NVIDIA will launch its new GeForce RTX 5060 series at lower prices than its predecessor. The GB206-based models will start at $299.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, featuring 4608 CUDA cores and a TDP of 180W, will be available in two memory configurations. Both the 16GB and 8GB GDDR7 versions will use a 128-bit memory bus, offering the same memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s. The 16GB model will retail at $429, which is $70 less than the previous generation. The 8GB version will launch at $379, priced $30 lower than its predecessor.

The standard RTX 5060 is the only model in this lineup to maintain the same MSRP as its RTX 40-series counterpart. It will be priced at $299 and is confirmed to launch next month.

Nvidia RTX 50-series GPU prices drop below MSRP in Germany as demand wanes

's latest RTX 50-series graphics cards are facing a noticeable drop in demand across Germany, with most models now selling at or below their manufacturer's suggested retail prices. This shift marks a significant change from earlier in the year, when new releases typically commanded higher prices due to limited availability and high consumer interest.

The RTX 5090 remains the exception, as it is still in high demand and frequently out of stock, but the rest of the lineup is widely available and often discounted.

At the end of March, the least-expensive RTX 5080 models were listed at €1,169 ($1,324), but by last week, prices had fallen to €1,119 ($1,268), matching the official local MSRP. The RTX 5070 Ti saw an even steeper decline, dropping from €869 ($985) to €799 ($905) – €80 ($91) below its MSRP. The RTX 5070 also slipped from €599 ($679) to €589 ($667), undercutting its €619 ($701) MSRP. The newly released RTX 5060 Ti models are selling at their recommended prices, but there's not enough historical data for a meaningful comparison.

GeForce RTX 5090 “Double-D” incoming

The new U.S. export restrictions have blocked shipments of GB202-250 GPUs to China. As soon as the ban took effect, RTX 5090D listings were removed from many platforms, often leaving only a few options through system integrators. At the moment, the RTX 5090D is very difficult to find in China, especially at anything close to the MSRP.

It looks like rumors about yet another version of the RTX 5090 are taking shape. The RTX 5090D will soon be joined by a new model called the RTX 5090DD. It’s worth noting that the “D” in RTX 4090D originally referred to the Year of the Dragon, but that logic no longer applies here. The naming is confusing, especially considering NVIDIA has not run out of letters to use.

According to MEGAsizeGPU, a hardware leaker with a strong track record on board partner updates, the RTX 5090DD will feature the GB202-240 GPU. This adds to the lineup of GB202 variants, following the 250 used in the 5090D and the 300 in the original RTX 5090.

Nvidia is reportedly looking to cut gaming GPU production by up to 40% in 2026 due to VRAM supply issues, but it's not as bad news as you might think. Not yet, at least

It might feel like tech news is a stuck record at the moment, with every other headline reporting on the grim effects of the current DRAM supply crisis. And at first glance, a report that Nvidia is planning on cutting discrete GPU production by up to 40% just seems like a case in point. However, while it is all RAM-related, it's not necessarily bad tidings.

The claim in question was posted on the Chinese Board Channels forum (via Benchlife and Overclock3D) and basically claims that Nvidia is set to reduce the supply of its gaming GPUs by between 30% and 40% in the first half of 2026, compared to the volume of output during the same period in 2025.

That's not surprising given that the DRAM supply problems, affecting the entire computing industry, will result in fewer desktop and laptop PCs being shipped next year. Given just how many of them typically sport an Nvidia discrete GPU, either soldered onto the motherboard or in the form of a third-party graphics card, the demand for RTX Blackwell chips is obviously going to plummet.

But Asus makes good graphics cards.
I had a similar issue with World of Tanks, so I tried a different monitor. Then I replaced the graphics card—it's good to have spare parts after mining. But the problem was that these crashes were caused by old mods installed in the game that needed updating.
