I have seen many people making gambling their full-time job. They are always in the casino each time they have a free period and sometimes they use their work time for gambling. I also agree with your point that most gambling addict always hid their gambling life from their relatives which is why they always lie to cover their uncontrollable gambling lifestyle.

I want to add that one of the symptoms of gambling addiction is low productivity in the workplace. Most of them are preoccupied with gambling that they will begin to lose concentration in their workplace. Some might even dump their work tasks because they want to stake games. Another symptom is the urge to always chase losses. Any gambler that always chases losses is showing a symptom of gambling disorder. Gambling addicts hardly accept their losses and walk away. Yeah if your focus is just to have some fun, if you can maintain that intention the chance of not getting too much engage is very possible, but after you feel that entertainment your appetite might change up and you'll going to seek for more, both winning or losing you will find yourself aiming for more, a very common thing that may happen if you don't have a good control over yourself.

The problem with this gambler is that, they primarily gamble due to money. They have this mindset that they have to bet in order to make a buck and to satisfy their hunger of earning money. Whereas, professional gamblers already make a living in which 99% of normal gamblers would not even achieve.

You would really be calling yourself on being a professional gambler if you do have this following things;

1. Able to sustain profits and make a living with it
2. Good on emotion handling
3. Do knows on when to stop and when to proceed
4. Financial handling

I agree with the guy above that lying about your gambling activities doesn't necessarily indicate that you are a gambling addict because you can also lie sometimes because you don't want people to simply know that you gamble even if you are not an addict, I personally tend to do that even though I know I'm not an addict, it is just better to keep some things to yourself instead of telling everyone about it.

About borrowing money, that should basically not be done if you are doing it for gambling, and if you do that and lie about it, you are definitely addicted to gambling and the urge to gamble is what makes you borrow money so that you can continue to gamble.

Yes, it's the same as what I did, but being addicted doesn't mean you can become a heavy addict, sometimes some gamblers want to find pleasure in playing gambling and don't target big wins, let alone chase defeats. The above are indeed some of the signs of gambling addiction behavior, but many don't realize that they are started to become an addict.

For me addicts are people who always chase defeat so that a lot of money is spent in games, whereas I never chase my losses because playing to spend a little money on weekends doesn't keep me curious and makes me run out of a lot of money, but actually everything comes back to me own how to control not to become a heavy addict.

It happened to me as well but indeed I am still not fully convinced that I am an addict gambler because I can still function very well. I still can eat or sleep properly. Not all times we are like that where we redeposit and lose all our winnings but sometimes we know how to do the proper thing. That is we take a break from playing.

It's also more possible if we already cashed out the digital money into a physical one and we already spend it on some essential things. The 4th one I do not agree with. I know some people who lie about their gambling activities because they don't want to get in trouble either due to their nature of work or to their family. An addicted gambler can skip and reduce meals just to have money to gamble with.
An addicted gambler can skip personal grooming and care, stop buying clothes and personal care products just so they can gamble more.
An addicted gambler can decide to walk a distance that they are supposed to pay for transportation to get there easily just so they can use the money in gambling.

An addicted gambling considers gambling as the most important.

And one of the reasons an addict keeps gambling is the hope to recover their losses and since it was possible for them to make such losses, so will it be possible to recoup their losses and by so doing, unintentionally chase their losses which draining them off.
