I have all of the traits you mentioned, they are absolutely devastating and make a gambler a problem gambler. In addition to the characteristics you mentioned, I have another addition that I personally felt when I became a problem gambler a few years ago. The main thing I felt was about my mentality, I felt depressed at that time, this depression also had a negative impact on various aspects such as being lazy to work and also not socializing with others.

Now I am aware of my mistakes in the past, there is no more gambling for money in my mindset, I gamble just for fun like playing a game and hoping for a little money.

Although I am not currently addicted to gambling I had to struggle with gambling addiction for a while in the past. When I checked the list in the subject content I remember that most of them were myself at that time. In general I spent all my time gambling, when I lost I made bigger bets to regain that loss, I had a very difficult time controlling myself about gambling and I was not telling the truth to the people around me about the money I spent in gambling. I see that the only thing I don't do among those here is not to gamble by borrowing money from others. Although if we are addicted to gambling we should not borrow money from others or sell any of our assets for gambling.

In reality, I think gambling addiction just boils down to greed. People feel like they deserve to win a ton of money and think casinos are the way for them to get what they deserve. it has nothing to do with greed and everything to do with escapism. read the book addiction by design. i never really understood gamling addiction until i read that book. my friends would goto the casino with $10k and end up losing it all to the slots over 8+ hours.. i could never understand it, i'd say to them, bro you walked in with a jackpot what the hell are you doing? it's not about winning, it's about getting into the zone... and wins are only seen as more time on the machine, thus the zone.

There are elder gamblers here in my area, at least above the age of 40. I don't really know whether to say they are addicts, but all I know is that they are always gambling with every little space they have from morning until night. They gamble from their own pockets, but most youths and teenagers who are gambling addicts usually pick pockets to gamble, and they do a lot of ill behaviors like living on some hard drugs. So, I can say that some gamblers who are very addicted can steal just to gamble. Also, some who are really chronic do live on hard drugs. I am speaking based on what I have seen in my country. There are many other attitudes toward gambling addiction, like lying to people just to extort money from them in order to fulfill their gambling desires.

There seems to be a distinction between two categories of your list of five points. Some of them seem like you are in "stage one" where your habit is taking up a lot of your time, but could still be manageable and controlled back to a fair amount. However when you get to the point of lying about your activities or borrowing money to fund your habit, at that point you have lost that degree of control needed. i really feel for people that have a problem like that. that's got to be the worst kind of addiction, it's like alcoholics.. imagine how hard it is to stop, or stay sober, when it's EVERYWHERE. at least when someone stops doing coke, they don't see it on every corner or in every ad.

Would really be that a gradual process on which there would really be those people who are really that tolerating their behavior until it do becomes an addiction.Some might be wary of whats happening but some are really just that ignoring it just for the sake of entertainment and leisure then they wont really care at all until hard situations or scenarios would really come along the way.

On the time that we do already sees that it is gradually taking up some effects on whatever we do have in life, not only in finances or money but also in your relationship with your family and friends.

The first point to 3 I have felt and indeed when there is no awareness of yourself, things like this will become increasingly difficult to master and actually aggravate the conditions that we do in gambling.
There are several other conditions that I did feel when I felt I was a gambler because I felt the urge to gamble, maybe not in borrowing money but I sold or pawned the items I had at that time so that I could gamble.
But when something like this happens and we realize what we did was a mistake, what I feel is that it is easier for me to control it because I have felt regret before. Until now I still do gambling but I always do restrictions even though maybe at this time I am still said to be an addict but I still feel that I am currently no worse than before especially my pleasure may be in gambling a little different for now because I am more happy with sportsbooks which makes me more able to reduce my gambling desires for the other one.

the signs of a gambling addict are all very bad but it gets worse when the gambling addict becomes increasingly compulsive that cannot be controlled doing harmful things just to satisfy his addiction. if all the signs mentioned by the OP have started to be felt by a gambler, it would be better to stop immediately.
because if the signs are starting to be felt but they keep gambling I'm sure gamblers will do reckless things like stealing.

What you mentioned may be true, but for the most part those are of the radical part of the spectrum that these gambling addicts subject themselves into all to get their fix. It doesn’t necessarily represent the whole population of gambling addicts as they are a little small compared to the general, but they are just as detrimental to the people around them as the ones who have not committed heinous acts of crime. My thought for this is because one way or another, these people will want to get money in order to be able to gamble again and win their losses. Some of them subject themselves in shady deals, with loan sharks and the mafia. Some of them resort to the sale of illegal drugs to finance their addiction, and some just commit suicide.

I mean lets be honest, I think that when any of us have some sort of addiction, we know full well that we are addicted to whatever it might be.  Gambling I feel is ever easier to realize as you're losing money straight out of your wallet which affects much of your life.

I would simply say if you've got a bad enough gambling addiction, check yourself in (whether in real life or virtually) and get yourself the help you need.  Don't let it fester!

As much as all these counts, there is one funny one that just bumped up my mind and that is;
Always believing that you would always win. Despite each lose, you believe your certainly going to win the next round.

This is the push that drives most gamblers to keep up taking bets after bets without a limit to it. There should be a point where you call it a day and stop for the time being. Probably after you've exhausted your set aside gambling fund or spare cash for that purpose. There have to be some control over your gambling behaviour. It's the one way to making sure you can always return back to gamble again without much regrets.
