I havn't done any research, but I will assume that less than 1% of people can make money in poker. You need to have perseverance, concentration, constant learning. It is also worth mentioning that you need to play several tables at once in order to increase your $/hour. Even professionals can lose control or fall into a downtrend. For better earnings, you need to try to enter into a partnership with a poker room, they usually give a higher percentage of rakeback, due to which many professionals earn quite well.
