Sorry to put it out but this isn’t the right way to go about investment. You can ask people to just send DM and you trust the suggestion of a total stranger which may turn out to be a scammer. I am sure that anyone that would be sending you PM would mostly be someone that would want to promote there shitcoins.

If seriously you’re actually in for investing and then you would need to go through everything yourself and the only cryptocurrency that fits your criteria for retirement investment is bitcoin. But even that needs some knowledge on Its security and the rest. If you are truly interested in investing in them which I doubt from your post then read through the pin charts on the forum or other articles. If you need help ask it by creating a thread and stop asking for people to PM you to avoid something that I am sure would lead to you been scammed
Thats if he is not even the one looking for someone to scam, I like to be optimistic about such person asking for for pm to be given an advice which you can see clearly that the forum is an open source conversation ground and all advice's are given to a users the moment you post a thread asking for help or direction in some areas you actually understand.

I don't know but something tells me that the OP isn't actually looking for an investment means and its just trying to seek attention of volatile users here in the forum.

Hello I am looking to invest my 20,000 dollars for retirement but I don't know the best crypto for me to put into to save myself from inflation. I'm 64 years old and don't have the time to learn the ins and outs of this crypto stuff so if anyone can give me advice I would appreciate it.
You can contact me through the forum or via email I appreciate the help
If you don't have the time to learn and understand crypto and its ins and outs at this point, it's better for you to buy Bitcoin because Bitcoin is already very strong in the market and also well-known in the community so you don't need time to study it again to know the best because Bitcoin is already very well proven. But if you are still unsure about Bitcoin at the age of 64, it's better if you just keep the money for you to enjoy in your old age and don't buy any investment that still makes you doubt it.

Hello I am looking to invest my 20,000 dollars for retirement but I don't know the best crypto for me to put into to save myself from inflation.

This is an obvious character of a scammer. Scammers are easy to call an amount of money. A serious investor shouldn't be mentioning an amount of money to entice an adviser.

I'm 64 years old and don't have the time to learn the ins and outs of this crypto stuff so if anyone can give me advice I would appreciate it.

You are not 64. A 64 yrs old person should have the time to study. Atleast to know a bit of what they will invest into. That is how anyone above 50 behaves

You can contact me through the forum or via email I appreciate the help

Someone looking for advice contacts his adviser and not the other way round. Let me give you a benefit of doubt that you want to invest, choose bitcoin, buy and hold in a non custodial wallet. By the q1 of 2024 check your investment.

I think this is a bit harsh. He could just be someone who is genuinely looking for some help. I don't see how someone could scam when they are looking to put their money somewhere, rather I see are the opposite - that the risk of being scammed is high.

@stevenjohnston some tips.
1. Don't use your real name as your username, anywhere
2. If you have bought bitcoin, store on a secure system (talk to your kids or look up how to install linux) - Do not put you r coins on a insecure windows system.
3. Use Bitcoin core if you have a few days and 600~ GB of free hard drive space for the standard client, or check out Electrum which is a lightweight wallet, which might be easier to setup.

Please ask questions in the beginners and help section about how to be secure and people will help you. Security is important in making sure you don't lose your coins.

Also, in terms of what coin to invest in - Bitcoin. Anything else is probably inferior.

I will always suggest bitcoin as the only crypto that is more secured and reliable when it comes to profit consistency and the rest are just following the pattern of bitcoin. But let me remind you that success won’t come easily like you expect especially you are investing in such in a highly volatile and an unpredictable market. You need to educate yourself at all cost and be aware how your investment will work since the outcome of your investment will be a great basis how well you know on what you are doing.

Your message sounds so naive that I don't really know if it's a scam or not. Being rather naive myself, this is borderline stupidity.

1. You should know that you can't invest without doing a bit of research yourself (without listening to a bank advisor or, even worse, a stranger on the Internet).

2. Can you imagine arriving somewhere and saying "hello, I've got $20,000 and I don't know what to do with it"? You'll attract all the leeches and crooks.

3. If, in addition, it's not a username but your real name (which seems possible), it's a bit of a winning combo for crooks. An e-mail, then a call, then a scam deposit site and in 10 seconds you'll have nothing.

Read the FBI's advice here and, without being paranoid, beware. Someone has already advised you to hide your e-mail and you've done nothing.

I'm leaning towards a super-naïve user, but I could be wrong.

I know that your money will be used for the investment that you want to buy in this field industry. But I just have a question, why do I need to contact you for that matter when you can directly create an account on Binance and other crypto exchanges that are known and trusted platforms so that you can buy Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency that you think can give you savings in the future?

I think that what you said here in the post you made is that you are putting your investment capital at risk in a situation where it can be at risk. Then I think you need to know what you're getting into, besides you need to take care of your 20k$ somehow, because of course you still worked hard for it.

sorry sir but 20000 dollars isn't 2 dollars that you should be risk off on people's opinion, if you're sure this is what you want to do, I think you need to create the time to study and acquire more knowledge pertaining to it, just so when your given an advice by anyone, with the knowledge you may have acquired you'd know which advice is worth taking and which should be ignored.

In my opinion you should invest in bitcoin, its rate of return is many times higher than that of stocks. You should create a poll topic, there are quite a few scammers around us, they may ask you to send some money to them to invest. be careful

A poll won't even be a better option because it will look like you're relying on other people's opinions in order to make your investment, and you might likely hold others responsible for your losses when things don't go as planned.

To me, the best is just to seek advice and suggestions publicly while you await other people's opinions so you can know what's best for you and draw your conclusion from them without putting your hope entirely on others.

this is a very meaningless scam trick, a person over 60 years old is not going to be taking the risk of entering the bitcoin market and holding it, it makes no sense, what is this 60 year old person hoping to achieve in put retirement money or who could enjoy the few years of life he has left in bitcoin to hold for 3 or more years? Does this person over 60 expect to have more money that way? And if you die, how will your relatives find out that you left money in bitcoin?

everything in life has to have limits, a person of a very advanced age should not be making high-risk investments, a person of advanced age should rest a lot, should stay away from stress, should have fun with his grandchildren and children and siblings , let your children take care of business and problems, there are times in this world when people need to know when to stop and rest. live life free from problems and stress. Of course people like scientists, long time investors are not going to rest at that age, but they should.

OP lying to people and trying to steal their money is disgusting

Cryptocurrency is not something one will just wake one faithful morning and all of a sudden, interested in crypto, it needs time for everything to be planned out, our strategies and also our time invested should count, according to the adage "No pain, no gain" we needs to experience some level of stress inother to gained enough complex knowledge from the market. That's basically what we need inother to extend our survival in the market, because investing in accordance to people's advise and recommendations, one would be leftover and probably record hugh losses, these people OP is seeking advise from are all together different. $20k is not a small money, more like a retiring benefits plan.

Hello I am looking to invest my 20,000 dollars for retirement but I don't know the best crypto for me to put into to save myself from inflation.
Steven, hello and welcome to the forum. That $20k is the lumpsum of your retirement fund, right? We don't advise you to put everything of it on crypto not because we don't want you to be here but because you need to start it out by knowing it actually through your own understanding. We all want to defeat inflation and that's why investing in bitcoin is one of the best hedge against it. Despite that, we don't want you to walk into shadows or being blindfold having that lot of money.

I'm 64 years old and don't have the time to learn the ins and outs of this crypto stuff so if anyone can give me advice I would appreciate it.
You can contact me through the forum or via email I appreciate the help
Work on it, if you don't have time of learning it. At least know the basics of it and you're all good. That's all what we want you to know first before investing that hard earned money of yours. But much better that don't all in of it since you're already 64 and we don't know your sources of income and this could possibly be your last money.

I appreciate the step you are about to take, to invest for old age. But is it not too risky for you? Considering your age is quite old

But if you want to invest in crypto, of course bitcoin is the best choice. Bitcoin always makes a profit every year, even though there is a decrease in price, the price of bitcoin is always able to rise more than the previous year. You can share your investment money to ethereum, etherum is pretty good too.

My advice is don't invest all your money in bitcoin, save it for your subsistence. Don't let you need money when the bitcoin price drops, it can actually make you lose

Since you are a newbie you need to analyze various aspects before investing. But the people OP has accused you of being a scammer and I find that to be true. If you have such a big fund you will never invest because you have no idea about investing. Maybe you have no idea how to invest, so how do you get involved in investing after listening to another person's advice? And you mentioned that only a scammer would do this if he personally sends you a message to advise you. So you put the thought of investing out of your head. And learn about long-term investing Think about investing later.

If you don't have the time to learn and understand crypto and its ins and outs at this point, it's better for you to buy Bitcoin because Bitcoin is already very strong in the market and also well-known in the community so you don't need time to study it again to know the best because Bitcoin is already very well proven.
Although Bitcoin is reliable and famous, but it is better before investing it is better to try to understand and learn it first, at least when the market experiences the bearish season he does not panic and do something beyond estimates that results in losses to it. But when he is able to maintain this condition to be more normal and able to control the risk of these conditions, Bitcoin is the right choice because even though he does not have more fundamental knowledge, holding is a way that can be applied.

The point is the extent to which he can minimize the risk of panic and investment in Bitcoin is not too difficult because it only requires patience and can control the risk when market conditions are corrected so severe. Difficulties in people undergoing dibitcoin investment because they do not have patience and are unable to control themselves at certain times.

But if you are still unsure about Bitcoin at the age of 64, it's better if you just keep the money for you to enjoy in your old age and don't buy any investment that still makes you doubt it.
Back again to the readiness of each person and if you are not ready to undergo an investment, the choice you give is much better to enjoy the rest of your life calmly.

Be careful! By telling people that you have money and that you are willing to invest but need help, you are making yourself a clear target for scammers and other criminals!

I would recommend that you do not trust anyone sending you private messages on how to buy crypto and which crypto is best. We can help you out with your inquiries but it would be safer for you if the discussion was only here, on this thread, not in your private messages.

So if anyone gives you bad advice, us crypto veterans can warn you not to listen to them.

As to your question: The objectively best cryptocurrency is and remains Bitcoin. But you can take a look at all the crypto listings on coinmarketcap.com. There are a lot of useful infos there and is the go-to website for every coiner.

As to how to buy crypto, I recommend you only use trusted exchanges like Binance, Kucoin, Coinbase, Kraken...etc. You can see more on coinmarketcap.com.

Hopefully that $20k is not your entire retirement pool, if it is, crypto won't save you. But if it's just an amount you're hoping to put into something more risky (high risk - high reward), I'd probably still go with Bitcoin. Historically speaking it is outperforming the rest of the crypto long-term, of course you won't be able to make x1,000 as in the past, but picking up other crypto that could yield you that much is close to impossible.
I wouldn't view Bitcoin as a safe haven protecting you from inflation. It still should be considered as a high risk asset, as its price is largely driven by news and actions of regulatory bodies, which is not something that can be easily predicted.

It will not be a good idea to invest in crypto if you don't want to learn at least the basic things of Crypto like how they works and what are the advantages and disadvantages.

Every investment has it's potential and risk. So Bitcoin and other crypto have also some properties which you must know before making any investment. Because it's your money what you are going to invest so why you will hear other's suggestion when it can be a wrong decision. Now telling about my choice, If I have 20k$ then I will surely choose Bitcoin for investment because it will surely grow my investment for long term. Because mass adoption are running and it has only limited supply which is 21 Million and day by day it's usecases are increasing.

Now saying about the risks, Bitcoin is volatile so market can be cashed if anything wrong happen to the market and you may lose your value. Investing in Bitcoin and holding it in a Custodial wallet is the worst decision. So always have to keep your investments safe by using non custodial secured wallets. That's all about my advice.

First the money you are looking is not a small cash and for an investment like that you would have to be the one who is gonna make that choice for yourself because firstly the market is very volatile and you need to understand this and don't expect any positive return from the moment you make that investment, you will have to be certain that you are going for a long investment and during your investment you will encounter a lot of ups and downs but bitcoin should be the only reliable source of investment for you because it has proven its credibility over the years.

It’s always bitcoin that you are looking for. But investing takes a lot of risk especially that bitcoin alone is highly volatile. The reason why you have to gain prior learning on how to manage and grow your investment before you actually decide to invest. Otherwise, bitcoin price drops will always make you feel frustrated, not realizing that it’s a good opportunity to buy more and hold more for future profits.

You only need to invest in Bitcoin because Bitcoin provides the greatest possibility of making a profit. Meanwhile, if you want to invest in altcoins, you have to search one by one, which doesn't guarantee you can get the right one.

If you invest in Bitcoin, you don't need to look like altcoins. You just need to determine when to enter the market and start investing. And when you have succeeded in getting Bitcoin, you only need to hold it until the next ATH to enjoy the benefits.

But be careful with the frequently changing conditions of the Bitcoin price and don't panic if you see it happening. Try to manage your emotions when the market is correcting because buying more is the best moment.
These are the reasons why you should put a lot of time to learn in the forum OP. Investing has its own risk, but investing with knowledge and prior experiences will eventually lessen the risk of losing. So if you keep expecting help from others without educating yourself first, then I don’t think you’ll be successful with your bitcoin investment no matter how valuable and profitable it is.
