I came across an article How Old Do You Have to Be to Gamble in USA?. In this article, i saw that the minimum age to gamble is between 18 to 21 years. I wonder if the online casino do follow this minimum age for gambling.

For sure the minimum age that you can gamble is 18, but the legal age to gamble for most countries are in the age of 21, and this 21 age was the one that is typically in the state of law, but I think this only applies with face-to-face casino's and not applicable with online Casino's or Sports gambling online, that doesn't have KYC, or even with KYC but is not that kind of strict with requirements, mostly gamblers can put fake identity and age, just to bypass those KYC that are not strict, for sure that age requirements are not likely followed, likely there can easily gamble, without the consent of anybody

When one becomes an adult I think one is old enough to play gamble, being adult is the time for someone to make decisions on how to live life. Apart from playing gambling in adulthood , getting a source of income can also be the right time to start playing gamble, I mean playing with the amount that can be afforded to lose.

I am aware that this condition is adopted in many casinos, so youth and minor children can still gamble in those casinos. If a casino knowingly allowed any minor to gamble (either online, or in brick-and-mortar one) they could certainly face hefty fines, or even risk losing their licence. On top of that, they could be forced to return any money lost by underage player.

Things get complicated when minors use either fake IDs or their parents' bank details to sign up online and lie about their age. In such case, if the casino is proven to take all reasonable steps to prevent that from happening, they probably won't get fined, and it'd be on the parents to not properly monitor their child.
But it all depends on the jurisdiction, as laws can differ.

Personally, I think anyone could gamble on their funds if they really want to -- say from age 18. The one thing that makes the rampant of control even more worse is the media. Anyone could use edited fake documents If the sites are really keen on getting KYCs initialized.

In fact, the idea that someone young might use their parents' credentials without permission is, dare I say, at best unsettling and at worst harmful. Well, if I must be sincere, I would say that I am not certain that online casino take the issue of underaged gambling serious at all, and this days, it is even possible for some underaged gamblers to pass kyc verification either by submitting a faked/forged documents or using the documents belonging there older relatives for the verification..

In all, it's not entirely the fault of the online casino, as they probably depend very much on the gamblers to be sincere and truthful in their dealing most especially in terms of kyc verification, but this does not hide the fact that there are still very many underaged gamblers who are taking advantage of the system, and I don't see them(casino) making any effort to fish out those underaged gamblers.

I don't know legal it will be to take actions on online casinos who still after getting the age of a player through their kyc still allow minors to gamble and that's simply greed to me. The actual age for gambling  should be from 18 years because at such age, a child should be own to own up to his actions and if flaunts any legal regulations at such age should  be able to face the law but  any child found below this age should be classified  a minor irrespective  of how big or built they might be physically.
I don't think even some physically casinos in some Africa countries actually follows the age restriction principles in gambling  what they're  after is just making money through  betting which isn't right.

Unless for the few casinos who doesn't care about their reputation that doesn't take underage gambling serious because most of the reputable casinos like stake make sure that a new player pass the level 1 kyc before they able to make either deposit or place a bet of the site and apart from that if the player supplied fake information and documents for verifications,  it still doesn't mean there will not be caught if the casino is really serious in doing so.

For Physical casinos then for sure there would be no minors which would really be allowed to get inside casinos premises on which it would really be just that in default but if we do speak about online casinos then there's no way that we could be able to filter out those youngsters to play on a certain platform. On the other hand, why is this 8 years old kid buying a casino account, since he obviously doesn't have a source of income to maintain this activity? Even if he purchases the account, it seems useless since he won't have money to gamble like an adult has. Or the parents are crazy to give the child access to their credit and debit cards plus virtual banking accounts.

Then I think it's more an issue regards the familiar structure which is completely wrong than the relation between gambling and kids, which simply doesn't work for real, due to the reason mentioned above.

It is true that commonly the minimum age for gambling is 18+. Someone is considered mature enough when he is already 18+.
I'm sure that most online casinos are trying to follow this age minimum. But the gambler can falsify his data, he can use his parent ID to pass KYC on the casino sites.

Casino sites can strict the KYC procedure. But there is always a chance for fake data. It is something difficult to do by the casino sites. Even if they use a live KYC procedure to validate the data, a smart one can always know how to manipulate it. Well, a live KYC may be the best way to eliminate underage. I don't think any other ways to deal with this matter.

This is another issue with the KYC, that is FAKE documents submit to pass the KYC (And I will discuss this separately) but if the casino can't check if the data provided with us is real or fake, then what is the purpose of the KYC. Casinos should have a mechanism to verify the data and an intelligent system that can detect fake ID Cards, driving licenses, and/or passport submissions.

They could make use of live camera technology to scan these documents but the point is that once they make an effort to collect real data, they should also make use of that data correctly, which means that they should filter the minors and deny them the opportunity to gamble.
